OTIS Love Beams Cosmic Echo Pedal

This isn’t your normal delay pedal. The OTIS (Outer Time Inner Space) Love Beams Cosmic Echo boasts a total of eight modes: four delay, two modulation, and two reverb modes. And none of them can be classified as “normal.” If you love chorus, fuzz, pitch shifting and more in your delay repeats, multiple modulation modes squished together, and reverb with phaser and more, this is the pedal for you.

welcome to get offset my name is Emily

and I’m here today with a puddle from

Australia all the way from Australia

it’s called The Love beams it’s a cosmic

Echo unit by

Otis

um so let’s go ahead and get into it

it’s a big box

hand hand for scale

and it has a bunch of different unique

delay and modulation modes they go from

extremely psychedelic to kind of funky

and

um they’re all really super duper unique

I don’t feel like there are a lot of

average kind of sounds in this pedal so

yeah I’m playing my

heat treated

Music Man Cutlass uh that’s

still on loan

[Music]

through the Benson mix wave chimera

plug-in all right so let’s go ahead and

get into it

um talk about the controls a little bit

we have time

that’s most of most of the time that is

the length of the delay

we have feed most of the time that’s the

amount of feedback love varies by mode

we have mix

we have that is a tone control and we

have the modes there and the volume

there Unity gain on this pedal is quite

low

um that’s why it’s turned to about 8 30

9 o’clock so I’ll keep that in mind but

let’s start with delay one it’s called

light waves it’s a uniquely modulated

band pass filter with an overdriven

chorus in the feedback path so um time

delay time feed feedback amount love is

the modulation depth and filter

resonance so let’s start with that

let’s start with that kind of low

[Music]

[Music]

wow

it does say it goes from subtle Radiance

to deep swelling pulsations

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

[Music]

I’m gonna largely keep mix in the middle

um yeah that’s

[Music]

laughs

[Music]

thank you

there are quite a lot of modes so let’s

go let’s go ahead and get into the next

one

delay 2 is called life speed and there’s

a lot going on here so I’m just going to

read it’s a low pass filter modulated by

a sample and hold Ctrl into a delay with

a VCA tremolo modulation in the feedback

path capable of bending and Shifting the

repeats into anything from Rich textures

to hypnotic rhythmic Echoes so time is

for both the delay and the tremolo the

tremolo rate is inverse to delay time

this creates an interesting polyrhythmic

effect at a different delay time and

makes it the control highly interact

with the love which is the depth of the

tremolo and the sample hold

uh feedback is the delay feedback amount

and Sample hold rate and

um the sample hold modulation of the

filter cut off is apparently pretty

subtle

start down here

look

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

I definitely see what they mean by like

these haunting Echoes I really like them

[Music]

I really like that

[Music]

oh it’s so weird

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

so three is called Subterranean and it’s

an envelope controlled filter with a

blendable fuzz octave in the feedback

path so this is going to be interesting

delay is standard delay feedback is

delay feedback amount and octave fuzz

blend fully clockwise would be maximum

fuzz so I have on a good amount of fuzz

right now love is the envelope

sensitivity which is interactive with

the input level of the signal so this

could be cool to put through like a drum

machine is what they’re kind of getting

at

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

so that’s a lot of fuzz without sending

it in to um

like self-oscillating

there’s quite a lot of room on this to

play without self-oscillating so we’ll

do

foreign

petal

next patch is called sound and vision it

has a cascading pitch shifted repeats it

has cascading pitch shifted repeats

so the love knob kind of controls the

the pitch situation and fully

counterclockwise is an octave below

fully clockwise is the fifth above uh 12

o’clock is about a 50 50 blend so that’s

interesting

[Music]

thank you

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

that’s so pretty

thank you

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

I like a lot of these they’re really fun

let’s move on to the next mode it’s our

first non-delay mode it’s filter one

it’s called honey it’s a low pass filter

with the option for lights to heavy

modulation

um so it’s like a chorus so time is the

rate slash blend it’s more subtle when

it’s all the way to the left less subtle

obviously when it’s all the way to the

right

um

feedback is the course depth and filter

resonance and then love is a low pass

filter cut off frequency the blend is

going to be more useful in this than

other ones I’d had it about 50 50

because otherwise I feel like the

repeats kind of would have drowned

everything out but yeah let’s um

let’s let’s check it out

[Music]

foreign

foreign

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

ique it’s called Patchwork it’s the low

pass filter with a blendable fuzz and a

modulating Square wave tremolo

so yeah it’s weird

it’s another one where the blend is

going to probably be used a little bit

more during this demo time is tremolo

rate uh feed is filter resonance and the

octave so I have it kind of down right

now I’ll turn it up and then love is the

low pass filter cut off frequency

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

thank you

foreign

[Music]

[Laughter]

[Music]

[Laughter]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Laughter]

[Music]

[Music]

thank you

that might be my favorite one yet I

really like that one uh but there’s a

lot of modes on this pedal and not a lot

of time left so I’m Gonna Keep moving so

this is question mark

it’s a resonant platelet Reverb into a

filtered delay line delay time is time

um note that at Short settings reshape

can sound like a nice modulated spring

Reaver which I’m already using a spring

reverb so I’m not going to hit that too

hard feed is the delay feedback amount

love is a tone in resonance control of

the Reverb fully counterclockwise is a

dark filtered and rotating it to the

right will brighten it

you can you can literally already hear

it

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

‘s a lot like increasing the dwell time

foreign

[Music]

we’re already working with sounds like

[Music]

so that’s a big addition I love that

um question mark two question marks

I’m gonna change these settings a little

bit

so last one was a plate Reverb two

question marks is called creation Rebel

and it’s a spring like Reverb with a

classic four stage phaser in the output

path and I know I’m going to love that

time is the rate for the phaser feedback

is the Decay control for the Reverb

um which is

like what the other one was

um Love is the depth control for the

phaser

[Music]

uh as depth is increase a high pass

filter is also introduced

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

there you have it that’s the love beams

by Otis aptly described as a cosmic Echo

unit while none of those had extremely

normal sounds I think the normalist

sound you could get out of that was a

spring-like Reverb if you turn the plate

Reverb setting uh time all the way down

I don’t really know what my favorites

are I really love the second filter and

the second Reverb mode that’s the ones

with the question mark As far as the

delays the first I think and the fourth

one really stuck with me

um but I didn’t dislike any of them and

that’s that’s pretty huge for a pedal

that has like eight modes on it Well

Done

um thanks to Otis for sending me this to

check out uh I’m sure they were

wondering if I was ever gonna film it

the only downside is that it is quite

large

but um

I I mean it can do so much so if you

sometimes need to lay sometimes need

like a chorus and sometimes need a weird

Reverb this can do all of those uh so

yeah I like it

I liked it I had fun with it uh I can

imagine using this with my band Sunday

Crush I can’t imagine using this with

like my more rock bands because I don’t

really do a lot of psychedelic stuff

Sunday Crush does so this is very much

in that wheelhouse and I haven’t had a

fun Reverb in a while so I’m really

interested in in this one so yeah once

again thank you to Otis check them out

Link in video description I also have

affiliate links if there’s anything else

in the world that you want so I have

those for Sweetwater Reverb perfect

circuit and Seymour Duncan so please

consider using those if you plan on

buying anything from any of those places

anytime soon it costs you zero extra

dollars but I do get a small portion of

those proceeds back it’s a great way to

support the channel doing things you’re

probably gonna do anyway I also have

patreon at patreon.com get offset that

includes access to our exclusive Discord

server the five dollar a month level or

above we have mercygalsetpodcast.com

shop but my favorite way to support the

channel is to like comment and subscribe

and of course tell your favorite Brands

about us so for all of you out there

thanks for watching thanks for

understanding

um once again my name is Emily until

next time goodbye
