Calico Antlers: A Green Muff with More Possibilities

popping today something about that shirt

is just really bringing them out making

them more lively kudos to you for color

I’m here today with the Calico antlers

it’s their take on a green big muff and

uh it’s it’s got some standard control

so if you’re familiar with the layout

you can get started right away it also

has some fun and interesting bonus items

so let’s check those out

looking at the top three uh knobs here

we have volume that’s your output tone

uh counterclockwise for darker clockwise

for brighter

um slash more treble and then we have

Distortion such as the amount of gain on

tap

simple right we also have these toggles

here

we have a three-way toggle for mids so

up is boosted meds

middle is flat

down is scooped mids we also have this

gain toggle so you can add more gain

that’s up or if you like the stock game

that’s uh down

we also have lift so lift removes diodes

in the first stage

down is uh stock those stock silicon

diodes

cool so that’s everything we need to go

over

let’s get playing I am uh using this

American Vintage 2 Jazz Master big

I’m going to start with a volume and

tone in the middle and the Distortion

all the way down I’m going to start with

the mids

flat

and then I’m what I’m going to do is I’m

going to increase the distortion

so I definitely prefer this pedal with

the Distortion at least at nine o’clock

if not more

um but you can also hear how as you add

that Distortion the the tone changes as

well so it’s really nice to have that

tone knob

bringing that tone back to the middle

and the Distortion back to nine o’clock

let’s hear how that mids toggle impacts

the sound

is definitely from scooped to boosted

the the mid uh the flat is a little bit

less apparent

I changed my mind they’re all pretty

different

all right I’m gonna go back to Flat

Distortion in the middle and uh actually

we’ll do Distortion all the way down and

then we’ll flip that toggle knob as we

adjust

um that Distortion knob

it’s definitely a lot more gain and

compression dig it gonna go back to

stock gain and we are going to try

removing those diodes

well there you have it that’s a quick

look at the antlers by Calico again it’s

enough you could probably hear that it

adds such a lovely texture and I really

am feeling those toggles you know I love

when people build these muffs and

instead of just having those three knobs

they give you the ability to shape it

more with toggles

I think toggles are really underrated

I’m a fan of them because it makes it a

little bit easier I think to remember uh

what settings you like this is just such

a lovely pedal really easy to dig into I
