Demo: Fender Compugilist through Strymon Iridium

Fender’s been getting back into the pedal game in a big way. With the Compugilist, they’ve combined two of their most popular pedals: the Bends Compressor and the Pugilist Distortion.

Both have simplified controls compared to the originals, which is a big plus for me. The controls are simple, intuitive, and give you plenty of ton possibilities for that compressed rock tone.

Both channels are completely independent and you can stack them or use them separately. Personally, I like to use them together with both level knobs cranked (I think it sounds best that way.

In this demo, I use the Strymon Iridium as my amp, that way you can hear how it sounds with three popular amp types. Info and time stamps below.

1. Round, b: Based on Fender® Deluxe Reverb. Impulse of a 1×12″ Blues Junior cabinet with a Jensen® C12N speaker. (0:19)
2. Chime, b: Based on a Vox® AC30TB Brilliant channel. Impulse of a Celestion Blue AlNiCo speaker in a closed back 1×12″ cab. (3:49)
3. Punch, b: Based on a Marshall® Plexi. Impulse of a Celestion Vintage 30 in an open back 2×12″ cab (7:00) I spend the most time on this setting because I think it sounds *chef’s kiss*

Song is “Positive Jam” by the Hold Steady.
Guitar is TunaTone TeenyTuna.
