Demo: Harley Benton TE-80 (Hohner / H.S. Anderson Mad Cat Copy)

A few years ago, I purchased the Harley Benton TE-80, a sub-$200 copy of the Hohner / HS Anderson Mad Cat made famous by Prince.

It was a fun guitar from the start, and had the gist of the look I wanted, but after swapping out the pickguard with one from Original Scratch-It and refinishing the head stock / adding a new waterslide decal, it looks enough like a Prince Mad Cat to make this absolute dork happy.

But how does it sound? Watch the video to judge for yourself, but I think it sounds pretty solid with stock hardware and electronics. It feels good to play, minus the weight, and is a guitar I don’t have to worry about too much.

Shout-out to Princess Carrie Fisher for a well-timed cameo.

Amp is Strymon Iridium (round, b)
