The Gale is a force of nature. It’s a germanium discrete op-amp distortion/fuzz that covers an enormous range — from edge of breakup to full out woolly beast.
With the gain knob turned to the left, you have your overdrive and distortion sounds. But once that knob hits 12 o’clock, the fuzz kicks in.
The tone knob is more of a “girth” knob, where it’s brighter to the left and heftier to the right. Think of it as a low-pass filter.
The shape control changes the way the clipping circuit interacts with the high- and low-pass filters. This is where you can make the dirt sharper or super wooly.
