Dr Scientist Dusk Demo and Review on Guitar and Bass

Hey welcome Emily. This is get offset. And today I’m here with the Dusk low pass filter by dr scientist. So a low pass filter removes the higher frequency in your sound, so it filters them out. Um, if you’re kind of unaware of what a filter does, a famously filters can be like wah wahs, or they can do that.

[00:00:26] bow chicka bow wow. Um, if you’re not like I’m, I’m sure somebody you watch, you know what that is, but some people don’t, so I’m going to explain it. Um, but that’s the, jist, this is basically three filters in one, there are three modes, but first let’s talk about the controls a little bit. This is the filter knob all the way down.

[00:00:50] Like this means the filter is completely closed. All you’re going to get is like a gentle thumping sound at most. All the way up. It means the filters all the way open, probably kind of pointless in one of the modes. I’ll explain that in a bit, uh, the resonance, you can think of this as a feedback. It controls how much of the signal is coming back in.

[00:01:14] Uh, this is, um, the lowest amount of feedback and this all the way up here can produce some really screechy. Powerful noises that may or may not be what you’re going for. Um, but it’s very, if you want to, and you know how much I respect that and then simply the volume. So this push button over here controls what mode you’re in.

[00:01:40] The first mode is cut and that’s kind of like a manual filter. It’s just going to stay in the position. Um, It’s not going to go up or down. It’s just good. It just can create kind of like, you’ll hear it, but like a telephone kind of noise or stuff like that. Um, but you just basically set how much of the sound you want filtered out the high sound.

[00:02:04] You have filtered out what you want to be. And, um, you can use this switch over here to hold to, um, just. That’ll actually sweep the filter a little bit, uh, or a lot-a-bit. You’ll see what I mean. It’s easier to watch than to explain it. the next mode. Okay. Is the envelope and if you’re wondering, how do I know what mode I’m on?

[00:02:27] Emily? When you turn it on red, yellow, and orange. Orange is the envelope filter. This is like the flunk better. This control sort of like your sensitivity. And it takes that into account. Like how hard are you applying? And that kind of controls the filtering. Um, again though, all the way down, this controls the sweep of the filter.

[00:02:51] So all the way up, it’s like a full sweep and you can kind of see there, how much of the signal would be. Swept. That’s kind of a cool little visual there and the residents work it’s the same and Oh, and the hold button will hold the signal at whatever it is. So it will stop, um, any movement from happening LFO.

[00:03:19] This is kind of like your auto wah sound, right? So it’ll be automatically go up and down. This controls, the frequency sweep. I believe at noon, it’s like the widest sweep and then you can make it go up or down from there. So there are six modes, all are color coded right now it’s on the, I ended up mode, which we’ll get into, but you have a second wave.

[00:03:48] It’s giving you a visualization of what that looks like. Does that change the color? I forgot, uh, the square. Oh no, it goes down like that. So then that’s a ramp. That’s a solid wave. That’s a square wave. So purple that stands for sample and hold. And then the last one is random, which is the weirdest auto wall you will ever use.

[00:04:14] So let me go back to that, back to the top. Enjoy the rest of the demo Squire paranormal series, supersonic Lawler, Imperial pickups, um, have them on the humbucker is, and the I’m going to go with single coils middle position.

[00:04:53] Uh,

[00:05:14] Okay.

[00:05:30] So that’s a very funky kind of sound.

[00:05:44] so you can hear what difference that resonance makes. I like having a little bit more.

[00:06:42] So there you heard of the residents going a little wackadoodle, maybe part of your Sonic mission. It may not be,

[00:06:53] so that’s the cut and a, uh, Briefly put let’s go to the envelope filter.

[00:07:05] Yeah. So that’s that, that like the funk better.

[00:08:18] I love an envelope though.

[00:08:29] Wow,

[00:08:35] hold on.

[00:08:45] So you could have that all the way up.

[00:09:00] So that’s pretty fun. So yeah, that’s actually one reason to have the filter novel.

[00:09:10] We are on the, uh, The LFO mode. So let’s,

[00:09:19] you can really, you can really hear when it’s at noon. It is at the most of the Wacker walk to water. Wow.

[00:09:41] and it could just happen.

[00:09:54] wow.

[00:10:23] you get some really crazy sounds from doing nothing here.

[00:10:37] These different waves.

[00:10:54] And that’s the ramp down. So I’m doing the ramp down the ramp up a.

[00:11:08] Yeah, this is one of those things. It’s a little hard to show when you’re not able to use that with your foot.

[00:12:08] I think it’s a little aggressive, uh, all the way at noon. I don’t know if somebody will find a use for that. I probably won’t.

[00:12:40] Just really quickly. Let’s see with that. Um, see if I can get that envelope. Hold

[00:13:01] yeah, there you go. A little awkward, but it works. Um, cool. So that’s a look at the dusk on guitar. It’ll be kind of fun. I thought to put a low, a base or a low pass filter. Um, and, uh, yeah, let me know what you think of that on guitar and enjoy. The rest of the video with the base. Welcome back. I got my fender player series, Mustang bass, and we’re going to roll through, uh, the dusk on base.

[00:13:44] We’re going to spend the least amount of time on the cut function. It’s a little less interesting. But if I turn it all the way down

[00:14:04] Oh, no, there’s something wrong with the pedal. I don’t know how filter pedals work.

[00:14:57] I like that the manual actually, that does specify that. Turning this up on the way may or may not suit your musical journey.

[00:15:33] Yeah, least interesting, but that’s fine. They don’t allow it to be

[00:15:41] super interesting sounds.

[00:15:47] Now we’re on the envelope setting.

[00:16:09] okay.

[00:16:15] Mmm.

[00:16:24] Mmm.

[00:16:38] Mmm.

[00:17:06] and let’s get to the fun stuff.

[00:17:12] Yeah, we’re on the sideway

[00:17:32] when you.

[00:19:18] Weirdest Ottawa you ever will play.

[00:19:36] Sorry. I just realized I’d forgotten to show that it’s the same as it is on the guitar. That is the dusk by dr. Scientist. Hope you liked it. I shared it. I have a lot of fun. Those are pedals in my life right now. And, uh, I’m looking forward to showing them all to you’ve already seen the, um, I’ve already done a couple of videos.

[00:20:01] It was with, uh, the flunk that, uh, by Mr. Black. Um, and the dusk is just the newest of my super fund filter puddles. And there will be more to come including with, including with the dust. So thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding. Um, please like comment, subscribe below once again. My name is Emily goodbye.
