Eau Claire Thunder Demo: Boris EVOL Version

The Eau Claire Thunder is a mythic fuzz box by our Midwestern friends at Dwarfcraft Devices. And this is a very special version of that fuzz machine.

When they announced the release of the Boris editions of their Eau Claire Thunder (LOVE and EVOL versions), they also made a big personal announcement: they’re taking some time away from the company for other pursuits.

Though that makes me sad, I’m very happy for them, and I’m so happy to have this pedal.

According to their product page, the Eau Claire Thunder was born because our Old Pal Aen had a beef with the mid scoop of traditional muff style fuzzes.

They build the Eau Claire Thunder to give players that classic muff sound they’re used to, with an added buddy in the TONEBLAST switch, which makes everything louder and gives you more mids. Perfect for solos.

You also have a TIMEWARP toggle, which activates clipping that goes from high-fi fuzz to a more blunted “stoner-rocky type sound.”

The Trim knob allows you to roll back your input signal, which is helpful for any muddiness that hotter pickups might cause. I largely ignore it.

You also have a momentary feedback loop switch, because NOIZES.

Guitar is Fender Jazzmaster with pickups based on the ’65 guitars.
Amp is Strymon Iridium, Round, B
