Emily: try it again. I get that. All right. Welcome to the, get off set podcast. My name is Emily,

[00:00:22] Jason: Jason.

[00:00:27] Emily: I’m really sorry. Tia, can you pull your mic a little closer to you? Yeah, that’s beautiful. All right. Well come to the, get off that podcast,

[00:00:39] Andrew: your ears

[00:00:40] Emily: just right away. Just never works. It

[00:00:45] Andrew: never works. There’s like this wall of sound files in there. There’s whatever, what, whatever just happened. Kind of

[00:00:53] Emily: that was deeply upsetting.

[00:00:58] Yeah. I’m going to cut that out, but just so everybody knows, I went to play the intro and it was, it was a beautiful thing. I’m very proud. I’m not embarrassed at all to be with two YouTubers that I really, really liked.

[00:01:14] It

[00:01:15] was

[00:01:15] Andrew: kind of like when you turn like to the radio station, but you miss it by a dial you can sort of, yeah.

[00:01:21] Jason: But it’s just like, you’re doing the whole,

[00:01:24] Andrew: someone’s working in front of me. Like I have to listen to it for 10 seconds before you can move your hand back over

[00:01:29] Emily: safely.

[00:01:31] Tia: Super accurate. Yeah.

[00:01:33] Jason: So we’re looking at an age now where it’s like radio what’s that it’s like MP3s and streaming don’t even do that.

[00:01:40] I feel like we’re showing our age jazz

[00:01:44] Andrew: PR news.

[00:01:47] Emily: I remember I had a friend on the podcast and she was like, I’ve never been in the radio before.

[00:01:54] Jason: It was like, is the radio the matrix

[00:01:56] Emily: I’m in the radio

[00:01:59] Jason: episode. Yeah. Thank you guys for having us.

[00:02:05] Andrew: I’m so glad that you guys

[00:02:06] Emily: here. Yeah, I was, I found your YouTube channel, just browsing, like I think Ventura or something demos.

[00:02:14] And I like messaged somebody. I’m like, have you seen the channel? And they’re like, yeah. I’m like, why didn’t you tell him that might’ve been me.

[00:02:27] Andrew: liked watching videos of like, how did he not know about these? Come on. I don’t know. I usually the one that’s way behind the news and, uh, uh, way behind the trends. So it’s nice for a change,

[00:02:40] Emily: right? I think that’s true, dude. I think that like you’re on the internet a lot and you see a lot of your, a lot of groups that I’m not in.

[00:02:46] Like, I don’t do pedal boards of doom and that’s a very active group. And you have your

[00:02:50] Andrew: worship. Well, I I’m in there, but then I unfollowed them. So I only get notifications if I get tagged, I’ve been doing that with a lot of groups lately. Cause at a certain point I’m like, Why are we  for,

[00:03:07] Jason: yeah, no, that’s that’s fair enough.

[00:03:09] I think, uh, there was some, I forgot what group it was, but they made a trans comment and I was like, all right, I’m done. We’re not doing this.

[00:03:19] Emily: Yeah. I admin, um, I’m admin a few groups and I’ve, I’ve banned a few people pretty aggressively.

[00:03:29] Jason: Oh my God. I don’t know. Like the internet in itself is a weird thing.

[00:03:33] Cause it’s just like, it’s given voice to so many people, but at the same time, it’s just like, why would you know, why would some people on the online think this is cool? Yeah.

[00:03:44] Tia: I mean, I think it’s a, what’s the word? Almond, Timothy and anonymity. It’s like, people just feel emboldened to say whatever and not facing any consequences or at least not any real consequences.

[00:03:57] And they get

[00:03:57] Andrew: muted. They messaged an admin just with an absolute nonsense message of like, this is America. You

[00:04:04] Emily: can’t mute me. And my freedom. Can I read you all a so I’m, I am in another, I’m a moderator in another group. And sometimes when people get blocked or banned, they assume it’s me. And then like, they messaged me and it goes to my messages.

[00:04:20] And, uh, then I get this weird wall of text, uh, that says. I was removed again, and my posts were deleted this time. Awesome. Thanks. Why? Huh? What’s your problem? So-and-so kicked me out yesterday. Restored my posting and apologized today. I’m booted again in my comments got deleted. Hm. Used to be my favorite related to guitar group.

[00:04:40] You know what? Fuck you. You’re a shitty human all separate messages. Wow.

[00:04:48] Jason: That’s still, I don’t know. It’s just like, for me, it’s just like, I’ll see some stuff online. I was actually, I was telling you earlier about another Facebook group that I was on and um, long story short, like they just judged my like picture without even saying anything.

[00:05:04] I mean, they’re like, oh, you’re pretty feminine. And I’m like, is that an insult? Like, what I’m saying is like, what was like, I disagree. I was like, okay, like your point, your point. Like,

[00:05:18] Emily: yeah. I remember even being in middle school, I was like, I dressed a little different and some of the guys would like come up.

[00:05:26] Like rude words for lesbian. I was like, that doesn’t really feel like an insult.

[00:05:33] Jason: Like the thought that went through my mind was like, I was like, well, I didn’t grow up around my mom. And my sister’s like, yeah,

[00:05:40] Emily: I guess so. Yeah, no, I’m sorry. Are my communication skills too, too good for you too much of an impact.

[00:05:48] Jason: It was like, Hey, like I, so I disagree and I didn’t, it wasn’t, it wasn’t even like I jumped down to dude’s throat. I was like, no, it’s a past for me. And then he just like jumped on me and I was just like, really? I was like, really like that, that guests don’t know that meme of like

[00:06:07] Emily: really?

[00:06:08] Jason: Yeah. That was me the whole time.

[00:06:11] Tia: Yeah, I dunno. I’ve uh, I’ve uh, uh, sorry, go ahead.

[00:06:14] Emily: Good. No, no, you’re the

[00:06:15] Tia: guest. I was going to say I have a really hard time. Uh, I don’t want to say like engaging with those types of people. It’s just, I just. Like, I’m not on Facebook. I’m barely on Instagram. And even then my page is currently on private, just because I don’t want to deal with other people.

[00:06:32] You know? Like

[00:06:33] Emily: I like your mental health must be astounding. I like to think so. Yeah.

[00:06:40] Jason: Two of us, like, she’s, she’s that person, I’m the person that if you say something to me, like, ah, like engage, I will engage. But at the same time, I like to think of myself as pretty witty because, um, growing up in the hood so to speak, you had to be really good at roasting people.

[00:06:56] So it’s just like, so it’s just like, okay, so this dude is going to come from me. Like, um, there was someone who screenshot it. Like there was something that I like, I posted. And it got a bunch of shares. And like someone was like, uh, is this your leader? Like, it was a screenshot of me. And I was like, bro, I wouldn’t say anything.

[00:07:15] If you out here looking like a great value, redneck Robert humbling, like that’s not an insult. I was like, bro, I just sent you that like that’s an insult. And it was just like, I don’t know. Like, so that’s, I think that’s always been a pretty good dynamic between Tina and myself.

[00:07:34] Tia: Yeah, I think we balance each other out fairly well.

[00:07:38] I like, I like to think you’re definitely like a lot more connected. I pretty much just, like I said, I’m not on Facebook. My time on Instagram is limited. I watch a lot of YouTube videos. That’s actually how I found like your, your channel

[00:07:50] Jason: when I was looking at like, when I was looking at, but like, I think it was a year or two, but I remember when your star Castro video came up and I was just like, finally, somebody has this.

[00:08:01] Yes,

[00:08:02] Emily: no, that dude, like, I don’t know how, but I had like a re like a, like a gift card for reverb. And then someone was selling it when they weren’t like, before they were supposed to be selling it. And I was like, I’ve been putting off the demo channel for months and months and months. I’m like, it has to be perfect.

[00:08:19] Has to be perfect. And then I was talking to my friend, Ryan from 60 cycle. He’s like, yeah. Cause he’s like, cause you’re going to get the, get the jump on every other demo artists who’s going to get these because no one else has one. I’m like, okay, well I’m doing this, I’m doing this. And uh, like it’s not perfect, but it’s great.

[00:08:40] Jason: That’s how I found you. I thought it was awesome. And I was just like, oh man, this is cool. Cause I was just like, cause I’m like my deep seated fear was, I was like, oh man, someone’s going to get this. And it’s just going to be like a blues dad. It’s going to be like one of those. Like I recorded it in my car, like YouTube videos or like recorded it.

[00:08:59] Like I’m a

[00:09:02] Tia: downward angle, pentatonic scales.

[00:09:05] Jason: Like they’re not going to talk. I’m just going to play. And I’m like, okay, maybe I should. But I’m glad I found yours. Like, like I, I’m not trying to fan boy what I’m like been fanning, like, like I love when you did like the paranormal series, because that was really informative.

[00:09:26] Emily: I’m glad you know, those. I bought most of them. I was like, duh, I hope this works out these wise. It was

[00:09:35] Jason: funny because like, I think your video dev or your videos definitely inspired me to check them out and get them whether it was funny. Cause the one that I kept was the bass was the jazz band. That

[00:09:46] Emily: was the one that was the one where I was like, I don’t, I’m not that good of a basis.

[00:09:50] Like, I don’t think I can sell this like you did,

[00:09:56] Jason: but no, it was just like, for me, for me, it was just like, It was a supersonic. Cause I remember what that’s, when you had your secret Sonic. And then I was just like, oh, I want to, I really want to try the Toronado. And then I was just like, oh man, like, um, and then I got the first one that I got was the, uh, the, the Cabernet, the baritone.

[00:10:15] And I regret selling that like, cause I was like, as soon as I sold it out, I went down. I was like, well, I’ll just go buy another one. And I look at him like, oh, like they’re gone. And I was like, well, this is going to be the jazz master baritone all over again.

[00:10:32] Emily: Oh, don’t sell baritones. They are amazing. And they’re impossible to find a second time.

[00:10:39] Jason: No, unless the list price is just skyrocket, like, like, uh, um, one of our producers, Zander, he has the, uh, Jaguar baritone and we were, we were doing a episode and like, we just looked at the prices on reverb. And I remember when they were out and they were like, uh, And then they shot off the lights, 2,400.

[00:11:00] And I was like, yeah. So Xander, I don’t think you’re going to sell me that baritone now,

[00:11:07] Emily: man, screw cryptocurrency just by the randomest fender guitars.

[00:11:12] Jason: Yeah. The smell is like whenever fender releases something limited

[00:11:16] Tia: spot on it.

[00:11:21] Emily: There was a guy I, I just want to, I want to find this person and I want to smack them in the mouth a little bit. Like with my words, uh, not with my hands. Uh, I really well there’ll be battery or assault. Um, it would be battery. If I actually hit him, it would be assault if I put the fear of God in him. But, um, yeah, there’s uh, there’s a, someone on reverb selling those three, one of each color when they did those three fender, uh, tenor guitars, the tele tenor, killing them for like, they were new, maybe like 600 ish.

[00:11:58] Hmm, he’s selling them. He’s like, I will not separate them. You have to buy all three. And the whole package is $5,000. I’m like super duper believe in hell, but I kind of think that you’re going there.

[00:12:13] Tia: It’s pretty crooked. The whole silver sky thing. Like the PRS silver sky. Yeah. Like when people were like buying, like, uh, I don’t remember the finishes with light like that with lunar one or kind of iridescent color news.

[00:12:26] Like what? 24, 28. Maybe people were selling them for like 50 to like 5,000.

[00:12:34] Emily: I

[00:12:34] Jason: just wonder who’s buying

[00:12:35] Emily: it though. Lawyers, blues, financial planners,

[00:12:42] Andrew: minor pentatonic scale has the chat.

[00:12:46] Jason: No, it’s just, it just blows my mind. Cause there’s just like, I’m literally after now I remember, um, when the other one was announced, I forgot whatever color it was, but literally the phones just like blew up and I was just like, soon as soon as the other one was announced, I was just like, all right, like, I guess we’re gonna get these.

[00:13:04] And it’s just like, Nope, they’re sold out already.

[00:13:07] Emily: Yeah. Yeah. I’ve heard of some people getting their, uh, art, some people getting their Sweetwater orders canceled on some of those paranormal series guitars too, because they were basically basically selling them on futures. Like, well, I assume we’re going to get some scalpers at concert tickets, like, oh yeah, I’m going to get, I’m going to get some tickets for this show.

[00:13:26] I’ll just go ahead and list them before. I wonder

[00:13:29] Jason: if it’s the same way right now for the, uh, for the contemporary jab or, cause it was just like, cause I’ve been wanting to, like, I ordered one and I’m just going to waiting for it to get here. I’m not worried that months ago. And I was like, come on, I just want to review this, but I just wonder if it’s that way with that because it’s just, I don’t know, certain gear.

[00:13:47] I’m just like, you can just jump on and then I’m just like, like it just blows my mind cause I’m just like, oh man. Well I guess I shouldn’t pay for this.

[00:13:57] Emily: Yeah. It’s people. I think they like the things that are just a little bit like familiar, but also weird.

[00:14:05] Tia: Yeah. It’s like a, like you said, it’s familiar, but it’s a little different and it’s different enough to where it’s like, it’s almost cool.

[00:14:11] Like, I mean, yeah. I could have just bought a regular one, but it doesn’t have a recipe for prep board, you know? Like, does it have this limited color? Does it have this pickup? You know,

[00:14:20] Jason: that’s what actually what’s going on right now with the modified, uh, Cabernet data with the tele bridge pickup. It’s like, I’ve seen those.

[00:14:29] Like I remember when those were like 250 all day, and then I checked the use site and it was 500 like recently and I’m like, wow. It was like, oh man, inflation is

[00:14:40] Tia: real seriously. It’s not rare anything. It’s like the whole like Squire. Hello, kitty thing, you know,

[00:14:47] Emily: actually,

[00:14:48] Jason: um, I want one of my, one of my coworkers got one and I didn’t realize like how rarely were because, uh, she actually got one at a really good price.

[00:15:00] And then I was like, all right, let me check this out. Then I looked it up. I was like, oh, okay. What should she give? Or

[00:15:05] Tia: she got up to like a hundred thing. We had one come through my store and I I’m still kicking myself today about it. It was like one 50. And I looked at it, I played it. I loved it. And like something about it.

[00:15:20] I was just like, you know what? I’ll just, I’ll just wait, I’ll just wait. And then like a couple months later, check reverb to like $500.

[00:15:26] Emily: Yeah,

[00:15:29] Jason: it’s funny because like, um, I know the Squire protons, are we, um, not only are rare. Well, the basis in the basis coming through, I’m just like, I’m like, I’m not a basis by any means.

[00:15:45] Maybe I should buy this. And like, I remember one dude, he was like super offended. Cause he was just like, you guys are going to off, do you know how much things are worth? And it was like, yeah, that’s why you should sell it.

[00:15:59] That’s why you, shouldn’t

[00:16:01] Emily: not for, not for 60% or 70% the store credit. Just sell it, just sell it.

[00:16:07] Jason: Like just trust me on this. Just solve

[00:16:09] Emily: it. Trust me, Andrew. What’s a, what’s new with you. But other than that sick string, joy hat.

[00:16:15] Andrew: Well, the string joy hat is great and it’s starting to stretch out already,

[00:16:21] Jason: but sold me on

[00:16:23] Emily: the red, white and blue one.

[00:16:25] Jason: Oh, oh, what neck is that?

[00:16:31] Emily: Um,

[00:16:31] Andrew: I’m working in building a part’s Castro. My wife and I were going to build it together. And this is the first part that I’ve received for this build. And I think it’s starting to feel real. Now I’m doing a jazz master body with an HSS stress set. I got the strep neck because, you know, Frankenstein,

[00:16:55] Emily: I don’t really sell Jazzmaster next on the website.

[00:16:59] Andrew: All

[00:17:00] Emily: Rosewood, all Rosewood. Yeah.

[00:17:03] Jason: And so that is a nice,

[00:17:08] Emily: I’m so overly figured.

[00:17:11] Andrew: No, it’s just like just the right amount. And I love the skunk Stripe on the back. I’m so happy.

[00:17:16] Emily: It’s handsome. How

[00:17:18] Tia: long did it take to get to you? Oh,

[00:17:20] Emily: like a two a week. Less than a week. I think Andrew and I put the order in last Sunday and actually arrived.

[00:17:28] Um, the next Sunday.

[00:17:30] Jason: Oh, that’s cool. Yeah. I’ve been

[00:17:32] Tia: thinking, oh, just real quick. I’ve been thinking about ordering one. I’ve got like a, an American pro Strat and I walked into the store wanting one with the Rosewood neck, but the only one left, you know, due to COVID walls are empty. So I had to, I had to walk out with a maple neck one and I kind of want the all Rosewood neck just because I liked my Jazzmaster so much and just kind of want like a matching set.

[00:17:56] Emily: Oh, Andrew, I actually muted you. I can’t tell you.

[00:18:01] Andrew: Well, you’ve got that shell pink master of the tort guard and all Rose Wood.

[00:18:05] Emily: Yep. That’s my baby.

[00:18:09] Jason: Yeah, I want that.

[00:18:11] Tia: No, that was the same with me to the grave.

[00:18:18] Jason: Well,

[00:18:18] Andrew: I don’t know. I’m not completely set on colors for mine, but the top contender that I’ve had a screenshot of my desktop. No, no, no. I have got an orange offset.

[00:18:30] Emily: Well, but I, and I already have a pink guitar and another pink guitar and another pink guitar. What about it?

[00:18:37] Andrew: The color combination I’ve been looking at seriously is doing a shell pink with torque guard with all Rosewood neck.

[00:18:43] Oh,

[00:18:45] Tia: maybe a little bias looking set up.

[00:18:50] Emily: He is like, yeah, that’s pretty nice. That’s cool.

[00:18:55] Tia: Yeah. I think another, a good color option. Fall Rosewood that I haven’t seen would be like Sherwood green.

[00:19:02] Emily: That would

[00:19:02] Jason: look good. Oh, I was like, um, the, the seafoam green or suffering. Yeah, surf Rina like that one with the

[00:19:14] Andrew: guard.

[00:19:16] That’s my other combination that I’ve been looking at, because back in the day, when I worked at guitar center, they had that in their tele. We had like two or three of them in the shop and I’m just sitting here, like, I’m looking like how much commission do I have to make to afford one of me. But that’s the guitar I fell in love with the all Rosewood feel.

[00:19:36] Cause it just feels so different than a maple neck

[00:19:39] Emily: and even like a satiny maple.

[00:19:41] Andrew: Yeah, it just feels so different. I fell in love with the time. That’s why, when we decided to do a parts Castroville together, my hind it’s gotta be roasted.

[00:19:49] Jason: Yeah. I remember when those came out and I was just like, wait, what?

[00:19:55] And then I played it and I was like, I want one, I must have one. And then it was just like, I was like, like to you, I was like, oh, I’ll just get a later, later. Nope, Nope. Oh

[00:20:04] Emily: God, I’ll be fair. Stop doing that. I’ve stopped saying I’ll get it later. Cause it never, it’s like, it’s always gone the next day.

[00:20:13] Tia: Wait, it’s gone.

[00:20:14] Like that’s, that’s just it right now. Um, they still make the, uh, surf green. They also have that ruse. Uh, is that, is it rose pink? They do that with an hour. All right, too. It’s definitely not shell pink. It’s kind of a salad. That one looks really relatable too. Especially in person

[00:20:31] Jason: it’s like not

[00:20:31] Andrew: quite a burgundy mist, but sort of,

[00:20:34] Emily: yeah, I think that colors in there, um, like custom build or so I think they have it.

[00:20:41] Jason: Oh, man. I would love to get, uh, a new jazz and cause I was wondering, I was like, I wonder if Fender’s going to bring back, like they did for the fifth anniversary, 50th anniversary for the Jaguar, that burgundy mist. I’m like, I guess best of all worlds, Jaguar, like where it had the closer bridge placement bridge and Trump on it to it.

[00:21:02] I think it did. I had one back in the day and I was just like, oh man, this is awesome. And then I remember when I moved out to California, I sold that and I was like, oh, I’ll get one again. And then was like, Nope, Nope, Nope. You’ll never see that guitar. And yet it was like, it was awesome.

[00:21:19] Emily: Nice. Oh, sorry. My Enduro is bugging me.

[00:21:23] So is there anything new with you all we like to do, uh, around the table? What’s new. Yeah.

[00:21:29] Tia: Um, not really much. It’s been like filming with that, you know, more ideas.

[00:21:34] Emily: You hit the 1000 subscribers. Congratulations. I know, I know what a slog that first 1000 is this.

[00:21:42] Jason: Yeah, like it was, it was pretty cool because, um, one of my, like one of my friends, he was a thousand subscriber and like, he messaged me after, cause I posted this post on Facebook, like come on, just someone subscribe.

[00:21:54] And like he hit me, he hit me up and he was like, Hey dude, just to let you know, I’m the thousand subscriber. And I was like, thank you. It’s just like crying emoji, but it was pretty awesome. I would say, other than that, like what’s new with us. Um, really just focusing more on a channel and I’m just thinking of different things we can do and really, really just, uh, yeah, just that’s really it.

[00:22:24] Just focusing on a channel, like I’m

[00:22:26] Tia: growing it, new interviews, obviously new products, and also trying to find products that people are looking for, like in a timely manner. The hardest part is getting like these new items when they’re sold out everywhere. That’s kind of been the biggest difficulty, but I mean, even outside of new south, we’ve got a lot of like quote unquote, like older stuff.

[00:22:48] That’s still really popular, so yeah. Hopefully,

[00:22:51] Emily: hopefully we can keep it. So that is really like getting the jump on other things. And that’s why I ended up buying a lot of those paranormal series Squires from the fender side, because I knew they were shipping right away. Um, so like getting the jump was worth it, especially I was, I had like maybe just over a thousand subs at the time, uh, like that really made the channel and the other.

[00:23:16] The other part of it is really getting that long tail. Like people are going to be searching for this for ever. It doesn’t matter if you’re first, you just have to like start showing up. And like, I get one, I think the star caster video still gets like a hundred views a day or something wild like that.

[00:23:33] And then I have some other, other pedals, like I’m one of those boss, loopers is one of my most viewed videos. Cause it’s like a tutorial, like when people are just like getting this and saying, what the fuck? And

[00:23:50] Jason: yeah, because I don’t know. Like, I think the thing for us is just like, like when we review stuff, it’s like, Hey, this is cool. Let’s do this. And like, honestly, like with the, uh, Ventura episode that we did, I didn’t like, cause we literally filmed that and it was another episode the same day. And it was like, oh, what else?

[00:24:09] Huh? But like, both of those was like, I remember, I remember I was filming it and I was like, afterwards, I was like, well, I guess we’ll see. I was like, cause it was one of those like, Hey, I haven’t been Tara Jazzmaster here. Let’s do that. And we just did it. And I was just like, I was like, oh, well there’s not a lot.

[00:24:28] There’s not a lot of searches on YouTube for that. So, or at least that model. So it was like, so after that I was like, we have to, we have to find stuff that there’s not a lot of

[00:24:37] Emily: searches,

[00:24:42] Jason: but it’s like, um, I guess it’s just, it’s interesting being a new YouTube where cause like, uh, I think when we started this at the beginning of the year, where are our mindsets, it was just like, Hey, let’s do this and have fun and you know, have a bit more representation out there and just have fun. And now, now it’s like, oh wait, we’re at a thousand subs.

[00:25:05] People actually like us.

[00:25:12] Emily: I mean, you guys are great. I love obviously like the dynamic between you two is it’s fantastic. It’s it’s really nice. It’s

[00:25:20] Jason: nice to see you. It’s definitely

[00:25:22] Emily: authentic friends.

[00:25:24] Andrew: I don’t know who your editor is, but they’re doing a phenomenal job. Nelson

[00:25:29] Jason: Nelson. He sells it

[00:25:30] Emily: every single

[00:25:30] Jason: time. He’s not here. I think the new rule of thumb now was, uh, anyone that’s missing.

[00:25:35] Like they have mad diarrhea. That’s the, that’s the rule of thumb. Like Nelson’s out with mad

[00:25:47] man.

[00:25:47] Emily: Diarrhea

[00:25:52] should get that checked out.

[00:25:54] Andrew: Doctor, probably something to say

[00:25:55] Jason: about that. But, uh, but yeah, he’s, he’s awesome. Like, uh, we can’t praise him enough. I think. Really he’s like the secret sauce,

[00:26:06] Tia: but definitely we pretty much just leave it to be and just to do his own thing. Uh, you know, like we may have like little recommendations here and there, like, oh, Hey, like what about that meme?

[00:26:16] Or what about that clip or something like that. But like really 90% is pretty much him just sitting down and just putting literally just his, his own. Like, like I said, secret sauce just on it.

[00:26:27] Jason: I think he just has, like, he, I think one of the things that I’m very much appreciated about him is he has a great sense of humor.

[00:26:34] So some of the things like, especially when we’re watching, like the rough edits, I, I will just, I’ll be in my room just cackling. And they’re like, my roommates would be like, oh, are you, what are you watching? And like, this is like, let’s edit. I was like, I think that’s really cool of him. Like, I, I can’t sing them enough phrases.

[00:26:52] Cause I think he’s the secret sauce of the show. And I, I think our success or whatever success we may find in the future, he is going to be a huge helping hand in that.

[00:27:03] Emily: Oh, yeah. I mean, good editing makes a huge difference. I wish that I could get somebody else to, um, Oh, sorry. I just got a weird message. I, I, I I’ve had my basis.

[00:27:17] Isaac. I’ve had them, uh, edit some of the videos. Like, uh, I don’t know if you saw my Harley Benton mad cat copy video. They edited that one, which I was glad I sent it to them because my cat jumped into the shot a bunch of times. And they really like did a great job making that moment a lot funnier than I ever would’ve been able to.

[00:27:39] But, uh, I, I, I can’t pay them. Like I don’t, I don’t have enough revenue coming in to pay them. So sometimes I’ll just pay them in pedals. If I need a little extra help. I’m like, I mean, I do it. Yeah.

[00:27:52] Jason: And we’ll work from here. Actually, Nelson will work for dragon balls. I gave him a four-star drag. I had it from this trip from Minnesota and I was like, Hey Nelson, you want this?

[00:28:06] And he was like, yeah. I was like, yes. I was like, all right, I’ll just pay you in dragon ball. Maybe collect all seven and make a

[00:28:13] Tia: wish. And then after you’re out of those seven, then you can get like

[00:28:17] Emily: the

[00:28:17] Jason: bigger ones. Yeah. That means we got to find more and it’s like, I don’t want to spend that much money paid in gear.

[00:28:28] I wish I wish he played more. And I was like, Hey Nelson, you want this paddle? Yeah.

[00:28:33] Tia: That doesn’t work

[00:28:33] Emily: with this carbon copy. I think that’s also the tower supply. Some strings.

[00:28:42] Tia: I feel like that’s like part of like what makes Nelson, uh, such a great editor is like Pete, what he plays, but he’s not like a super like, uh, like he’s not a gear nerd.

[00:28:50] Yeah. So there’s that level of separation or he’s like really wanting it to be like visually interesting because you know, we’re going to talk, obviously we’re the audio portion of it, but like for people who are actually watching and not just having it on in the background, like there’s something engaging.

[00:29:05] Yeah.

[00:29:07] Jason: Like I think that was, uh, that was also intentional too. Cause like, when we were discussing like, just even doing this as a bunch of friends, we were just like, well, let’s do something different with different point of view. And like, and like all of us like are big nerds. Like we are huge nerds. And I was like, there’s gotta be a way we can reference all this stuff and like get away with it.

[00:29:28] So it was just for me, he gets it, like he gets it because he’s disconnected from the girl world. And, and he’s just, he’s just a secret sauce. I keep saying that, but it’s true. Like, like even, even just like, uh, Cause, uh, he, he does the, he does a crap, um, Zander, what’s the podcast name again? Yeah, he does the indistinct conversation.

[00:29:56] And just the editing on that. I’m like, because I remember there was one episode we were going back and forth on star wars and I was just like, I was like, this guy is awesome. I was like, we disagree on this one, but he’s awesome.

[00:30:10] Emily: Well,

[00:30:10] Andrew: what did you disagree about?

[00:30:13] Emily: Uh,

[00:30:16] Jason: I’m not a big, I’m not a big fan of it, but I’m not a big fan to be fair. I like the force awakens last shit. I, I’m not one of those, like. Bam boys are like, oh, well, no, that’s not my Luke. Like, that’s, you know, that is like, I actually, I was like, I don’t mind Ray as a character. I think she’s awesome. I think Finn is awesome.

[00:30:37] I think the whole new, like the new art, the only thing for me, it was just like certain things. I just was not a fan of that movie. And then there was the rise of Skywalker, which I’m still trying to burn from my memory. Um, but yeah,

[00:30:51] Emily: that was just pretend I did not enjoy watching those as I was watching them, but I never feel any need to rewatch them.

[00:30:58] Yeah. All

[00:30:59] Jason: the things the thing was with that movie in particular, I was like, it’s, you know, Ian, McDermott’s back as the emperor. That was like, that’s my saving grace. And then it was like, he’s not in this movie a lot. And then like, I don’t know, like. The all of us are big nerds. And I think the current conversation, which I’m waiting for Nelson to get back on his mortal combat.

[00:31:19] And,

[00:31:20] Emily: uh, oh yeah. I want to watch that. I remember, like, I remember the old nineties

[00:31:24] Jason: movie didn’t cause it had that like awkward stom seam and it was funny. Cause I didn’t realize that the actor who played shall con he was in the X-Files and he was, uh, he was playing, he was the, um, one of the silent aliens like that tall one.

[00:31:46] Actually a really good, well, we’re in smelly.

[00:31:51] Emily: Oh, I love the

[00:31:52] Tia: X-Files. I got to watch those files first and then we’ll dress up. Yeah,

[00:31:58] Jason: yeah, no, actually, no, once you watch it it’ll make sense. Cause I think a perfect, uh, rather than Batman or Robin, it would be, I think Zander, do you think I’m older and Sculley fits us better?

[00:32:11] Tia: I still like the Batman and Robin thing though.

[00:32:13] Jason: Yeah, I would do that.

[00:32:19] Emily: What about one of both. All right. So let’s take a second to thank the people who help support this podcast. Big thank you to all of our Patriots. [00:33:17] Hey, those things, I would love to get 5,000 subs by the time this episode. So I

[00:33:27] Andrew: need two seconds. We’ll be right

[00:33:28] Emily: back. Andrew needs two seconds. He will be right back, uh, uh, stretch,

[00:33:37] Jason: stretch,

[00:33:41] Tia: like hunched

[00:33:41] Emily: over. So if I’m guessing by Tia’s Jersey and your t-shirt it’s 50 degrees, that’s my guess.

[00:33:51] Tia: Let’s find out. Oh boy, I am just overdressed

[00:34:00] to be fair. When I was in my car, it was not this warm, there’s a lot cooler. It was like, I think like 65 or something. When I got my car, at least in the side of town I was at I’d drive about an hour to get here.

[00:34:19] Jason: I drive about 45 minutes to an hour from the other direction. So gosh, but it’s just like we have like the central Batcave

[00:34:31] Emily: tower. Well, Atlanta’s not the best city to drive in. I lived in Nashville and I would drive to. Hilton head South Carolina to see my family. So that always took us through Atlanta. And every time I was like, why God, why?

[00:34:48] Jason: I I’m like that everyday. Talk about to hit traffic.

[00:34:52] Tia: If Nashville, traffic is like a breeze compared to Atlanta, like,

[00:34:56] Emily: and it’s bad too.

[00:34:57] It’s bad there now, too.

[00:35:00] Jason: Um, I want to say I went there maybe a year ago or two. It hadn’t been two years anywhere recently in the last year. Um, but, um, I just remember being like, and maybe I’m just an aggressive driver.

[00:35:15] Tia: Atlanta definitely does that too. Like, um, my family is in Louisville, Kentucky, so I love Louisville.

[00:35:22] Yeah. It’s, it’s a fun, it’s a fun city. Anytime I drive up, I always have to like. Be really aware of my driving. Cause Atlanta everyone’s just like speeding. It’s aggressive. There’s no parents signals. People just do whatever. And like, when I get back home, it’s just like, oh, I have to call them down. I’m I’m the aggressive one.

[00:35:39] I’m the asshole.

[00:35:41] Jason: I didn’t see my family. Um, uh, they’re mostly in west Palm, Florida, so it’s just like people already driving super slow there. So I’m just like when I get there and um, and it doesn’t help that, like my oldest sister, she, she drives like a, it’s a, it’s a charter, that’s a two door. So it’s just like, she was like, Hey Jay, can you drive it?

[00:36:04] Like a lot of power and it’s like, you’re really upset. And I’m like, no, they’re just

[00:36:08] Emily: driving slow, get over it. I think, I think that’s how my husband feels when I drive. Cause he does drive like a grandmother, like he’s like 55, 55, like the semis are like passing us to get around. So like, sweetheart, this is not seem safe.

[00:36:24] Let me try it. Yeah. That’s that’s,

[00:36:27] Jason: that’s how I am. And my mom, like when I was home, she was just like, why are you this aggressive? She’s like, she’s like, you know, you’re driving like a Buick. And he was like, you’re driving a Buick SUV harder than any thing. Sorry. They’re just too slow.

[00:36:43] Emily: Yeah. Tia, I’m sorry.

[00:36:46] One sec before. Can I just Louisville? Last time we had someone on the podcast from Louisville was just the other week. It was a woman named Julia and a band called rat boys. And we talked about something very important and near and dear to me, skyline.

[00:37:00] Tia: I am a vegetarian. Yeah, I actually that’s a note to me, but my sister loves it.

[00:37:08] When we went up, we went up to eat. There’s a ton. Louisville has excellent food.

[00:37:14] Emily: Like really does surprisingly,

[00:37:17] Tia: no, surprisingly delicious. Uh, we almost went there, but we went super hand in my life. Yeah. I w uh, we’re from some hotel

[00:37:25] Emily: that’s fair. Just some random place. Like, yeah. It’s

[00:37:28] Tia: not even. Yeah. Like, uh, last time I went up, we looked at skyline chili and of course I’m the odd one out.

[00:37:34] I was like, I’m sorry, guys. We went across the street to this place called Ramsey’s super delicious. If you ever make it, if you ever get a chance to make it up there, or if you talk to your friends from rap boys, they may have been there already. Super little.

[00:37:47] Emily: I wouldn’t be surprised. Uh, the other thing is greater as ice cream.

[00:37:52] Tia: Ah, I think, I think

[00:37:54] Emily: that’s a Cincinnati thing. I’m from

[00:37:55] Tia: Cincinnati. Okay. No, I’ve never been the center.

[00:38:01] Emily: Well, they have them and they have, um, they do have them in a level. Oh,

[00:38:05] Tia: okay. I don’t know. I may, I don’t know. I’m I’m S I’m like the worst when it comes to like movies, as far as restaurants, I’ll go to places until someone reminds

[00:38:15] Emily: me.

[00:38:19] Tia: Oh,

[00:38:21] Emily: I miss waffle house. They don’t have them up here. I never been, I’ve never been to a waffle

[00:38:26] Jason: house. Oh my God.

[00:38:31] Emily: That’ll be. Yeah.

[00:38:33] Andrew: I love breakfast food. So there’s no complaints from me on that. I’ve just, haven’t spent a whole lot of time on that side of the country.

[00:38:39] Emily: The waffle house waffle is really perfect.

[00:38:41] It really is waffles and their hash brown. I have Browns any way you want them hash Browns, man.

[00:38:53] Jason: I know. And I’m just like, it was like, okay. So what I use, I usually get the, uh, the, uh all-star and then it’s just like, I just get extra eggs.

[00:39:03] Tia: So

[00:39:07] Emily: no, the protein route. That’s

[00:39:08] Jason: understandable. Hey, now you’re an all star. Yeah. Oh, smash mouth. I like the hand. Good.

[00:39:18] Andrew: Moving on. Speaking of vans, you’re wearing a

[00:39:20] Jason: Caspian. Yes, I am. I love Caspian. They’re one of my favorite bands. Um,

[00:39:27] Emily: I thought that was just like a shirt from a vacation to the Caspian sea. I didn’t know there was a band.

[00:39:36] Jason: No, that’s definitely the band. Like, um, they’re one of the one they’re one of the, in the most pleasant way possible. They’re one of the loudest bands that I’ve ever heard and I love it. Um, they came here because I got into the record with hall the summer. Um, and that’s, that was my introduction to them.

[00:39:57] And they were still touring behind that record. And I remember seeing them and it’s just like, holy crap, this is awesome. Like, oh, I was there with my keyboard as saying we were both like, like, we’re just like looking at each other, like we’re about to cry. Like that’s like, especially when they played halls with summer, just like this is it.

[00:40:17] This is like, I think the only other band. There’s been a few other bands that have had that, uh, experience on me. Uh, the first time with this will destroy you. That was, that was a religious, um, the last time was super funny though, because, um, they brought out this fog machine and, and they also had like this tube, I don’t know if it was a basement or an amp peg head.

[00:40:38] And I was like, yeah, with those teams going in that fog right there, I was like, I was like, that’s not gonna work. And then, uh, like middle of the set, it just like the amp had blue. And I was like, yeah.

[00:40:51] Emily: So.

[00:40:53] Jason: Yeah, I, I do love Caspian. I’m a very big post rock person. And I would say that, um, I think that helps with the dynamic between T and myself, because like, I think we both come, we’re both kind of like the same person, but on opposite ends.

[00:41:09] Yeah. And so for me, it’s just like, oh, here it’s post rockets,

[00:41:14] Emily: but it’s

[00:41:14] Jason: not, it makes me feel stuck.

[00:41:19] So, yeah. But I’m actually someone who’s been very supportive in Caspian. I want to say it was Eric. Pretty cool. Pretty sure. Yeah. Cause, uh, he’s, he’s been pretty supportive of the channel and like, um, I don’t know. It’s always, it’s always weird when like, uh, like when bands are people you. Like

[00:41:48] Emily: and asked to be on, on our podcast. Yeah.

[00:41:55] Jason: Can, uh, can I get out of your pockets?

[00:41:58] Emily: Yeah. I was like, what you want to be on our podcast?

[00:42:03] Jason: I feel good. Yeah. It’s just, it’s super cool. Cause it’s just like, um, I think like when those little moments it’s just like, okay, this is, I never expected this. So like, I never expected our worlds to intersect like this, but this is pretty cool.

[00:42:18] Oh, it’s great.

[00:42:19] Emily: That’s pretty cool. Yeah. That’s really fun.

[00:42:24] Jason: Oh, so I was just saying, I was, I’m waiting for that to happen with Tom York. And then it’s just

[00:42:28] Emily: like, well, Tom, you, we will,

[00:42:35] and I’m sorry, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I love you all a lot, but I I’ve had experiences like, well, I think that’s

[00:42:45] Andrew: a Caspian. Uh, I didn’t, I saw them live and I didn’t know who they were. I was there to see the, the headliner there. They were opening for under oath. Oh yeah. So under oath was on their tour.

[00:42:56] They did. Um,

[00:42:58] Jason: um, was it the revivals? No,

[00:43:01] Andrew: it was the said that chasing safety and define the great line back to back tour. So he had both albums back to back in their entirety. It was nuts, but I showed up early because I wanted to be up on the rails and I had no idea who the opening act was. I don’t even, I might’ve looked him up briefly before.

[00:43:16] I’m like, okay, like post rock that I can roll with this. And. Super loud, super insane. And then the end of the set, they just kind of like put their guitars down. The graduate, started playing with their delays and just, just full wall of sound. Well, like the last person on stage was hammering on a, on a floor, Tom, and I’m just sitting

[00:43:34] Emily: here going

[00:43:40] that face to face

[00:43:43] Andrew: abandonment of any self-respect and just awe. And no,

[00:43:48] Emily: she let it just let it wash over you wash. Well, let it wash over you.

[00:43:54] Jason: I remember when that tour was announced and I was just like, I have to go to this. So it was like, I was like, again, the moment where those worlds intersect. So it was like, I was like outside of the festival.

[00:44:03] I was like, you never, I was like, I don’t think they would like, uh, I didn’t expect them to ever like tour together. Like not saying they wouldn’t know each other, but it’s just one of those things of like, this is interesting. I have to go to this.

[00:44:15] Emily: Oh man. Yeah. So, um, let’s, let’s, let’s bring it back to the channel.

[00:44:21] Cause we talked about that a little bit. Um, what, what, what drove you all to start the channel? When did you start it? How did it come together? I’d love to know more.

[00:44:30] Jason: Okay. Um, well I wanna say around sometime around, like over the last year, the idea was thrown around. I, um, I know one of our producers Zander, like he and I talked back and forth about it.

[00:44:44] And then, um, every time I would run into Tia, like I wouldn’t like bring it up and I think it was just one of those things of like, we would always talk and it would always be one of those like, Hey, this is, you know, I really like, like, it would start with like, Hey, we would talk about certain key pieces of gear.

[00:45:04] I’m like, man, I wish like someone else would like demo it. And it’s just like, you know, it’d be kind of cool to have a bit more representation and like see more ourselves. In that area. And I remember we filmed the, we filmed the Jaguar episode, which was technically the first episode and it was just like, we just vibed in and it’s just like, all right, let’s, let’s go from there.

[00:45:27] But like the main, the main driving force behind it was more so representation cause um, all of us are very left leaning and, and not only that, but, um, since and myself work at a music store, it was just one of those things of like, Hey, let’s, you know, not only. Do we want to review gear, but like, kind of like, Hey, let’s think about the working class.

[00:45:55] Cause Tia was the one who came up with that name, you know, like we were sitting there just like trying to figure it out. Right. Shall I

[00:46:00] Tia: brainstorm? I was just like, I mean, we are going to be reviewing like a Gibson custom shop. So it’s just like, you know, who’s the, who’s the audience who are like real people, you know, that you see and that you interact with on a daily basis.

[00:46:13] And it’s, you know, people below a certain tax bracket more or less, you know, we’re not dentists, I’m not a doctor, not a lawyer, you know,

[00:46:23] Emily: not, not a stock broker,

[00:46:26] Tia: unfortunately not

[00:46:30] Emily: thinner. Yeah. Shout out to spend a lot on effects at a Bellingham, Washington litigators, a Marshall style. Overdrive distortion.

[00:46:38] I’m loving these ponds.

[00:46:47] Jason: Just really just that cause of discussion would always be cause, um, I think, uh, you know, I guess I can somewhat speak for you. I don’t, I don’t ever like speaking for, to you, correct me if I’m wrong. Um, but like, you know, being people of color and being more so into like the indie alternative scene, and that was always one thing for both of us, but it was just like, Hey, we don’t see enough of ourselves in this world.

[00:47:14] And, um, which kind of brings kind of brings full circle somewhat, but because there’s this thing called punk black and, um, which you’re doing the interview with, um, and you know, it’s just like, we would always have like these mutual friends and it’s like, it would always be the same conversation of like, Hey, you know, like this person seems cool.

[00:47:34] This person seems cool, but. The rest of these reviews, there’s just like, don’t really think they’re trying to sell us anything. Like, and then it’s just like, you, you run into a lot of people, especially playing music and whatnot, um, that have their minds made up on certain gear and you can kind of talk to them about it, but then you run into the opposite, especially working music, retail, like where people are completely new and, but they have a certain budget and they want to spend within that budget.

[00:48:07] And it’s just like, I think the channel has, uh, given us a way to be more personable outside of our jobs unintentionally, um, with that, because it’s just like, you know, one of the rule of thumbs. You know, Tina and myself really love jazz masters, um, probably too much. Um, but you know, there’s just no such thing as too much,

[00:48:32] Emily: no such thing, appropriate level of love for those.

[00:48:36] Yes.

[00:48:38] Jason: You know, we would talk to the people and we would just notice that like, man, there’s not a lot of people like us, like, um, in that area. So that’s really what inspired it more so like, because we didn’t, you know, our goal was like a thousand, like was a thousand subs. Like that’s kind of what we set the goal as.

[00:48:58] And then it’s just like, oh wow. We’re we made it

[00:49:02] Emily: 5,000 subs and then 10 and 20 then world domination.

[00:49:11] Jason: I mean, I think that was the thing. And I was just like, um, And as a moment to flatter T or like, I like when, when Zander and I was initially discussing this, I was like, there’s no other person that I want to do this with outside of TIAA.

[00:49:25] I was like, I was like, I think she is like, she and I would be perfect for this. And like, there was yeah, yeah. Ingrained. Yes. Yes. She’s, you know, she’s just been awesome. And like, I think the cool thing about it too, is like, cause there’s, there’s been certain videos I’d watch online of like certain reviews and like you can, yeah.

[00:49:48] So like not quite this, it’s not like you can’t tell they’re having a good time, but you can tell like, yeah, it’s a little forced and it was like, that’s, I, I personally wanted someone that one very important to me is the opposite gender, because that representation matters as well. And it’s just like, man, like you.

[00:50:10] Okay, cool. Yeah, we can get another guy on here. Great. Yeah, but is it really, you know, but can they speak for another segment of people that, you know, haven’t been really spoken for?

[00:50:23] Tia: I am the spokesperson for all women forever, and

[00:50:29] Emily: I’ve gotta be honest with you. I feel that way sometimes. And it it’s, it’s weird.

[00:50:34] Like I get asked to do other interviews and then they just want to ask me about like being a woman in music. I’m like, can I talk about anything else?

[00:50:43] Jason: I like this. And that’s the thing, like, I like being in an alternative scene, especially like being, I was always the black dude in that band. So it was like, you know, I was always getting questions in that area.

[00:50:56] So I was just like, well, if we’re going to do this one, I don’t want it to be T as gender at the forefront. She’s a person. So let her, let, what I’ve always said is let the music do the talking. And it’s just like, you know, for me, that was, that’s why I wanted, cause I remember when she came into my job and she was playing guitar and I was like, she’s awesome.

[00:51:17] Emily: Was like, I think that was like the first comment I left was like, I think Tia knows this, but you played beautifully. Yeah,

[00:51:23] Jason: she did. She does. And it was just like, I was like, she’s awesome. I was like, I ha I was like, I don’t know if it’s going to be a band or something. I was like, I have to do something with her.

[00:51:31] I was like, I don’t know what it is yet, but you know, and then

[00:51:34] Emily: let’s

[00:51:34] Tia: collaborate. That makes me feel really good. I’m always like super self-conscious about my playing, but I’m trying. I dunno, they’re just kind of like a fuck it mentality. Just try to have fun first and foremost. Yeah. Also like I would say like between our playing or even just our personalities, I feel like we do balance each other out fairly well.

[00:51:53] Um, just because like he said, you know, with a shatter of music you’re most comfortable with, I feel like I’m also on the other side of that. I like a lot of pop music. I’m not ashamed of it. I don’t believe in guilty. Pleasure. There’s only pleasure.

[00:52:06] Emily: I say that all the time. There’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure.

[00:52:09] Just own it. As long as nobody’s getting hurt, as long as, as long as it’s all of the up and up, like I don’t care. Enjoy, enjoy the thing that you enjoy guilt.

[00:52:20] Tia: Exactly. So like even, uh, just to kind of go back off of, you know, what you were saying earlier, like I think that, you know, between the two of us, uh, you know, Jason, as someone who has played with, you know, bands who have gone on tour bands who have been signed and things like that, Even on the other side of that, I am fairly inexperienced, you know, like I’ve tried my hand at like joining bands and things just haven’t panned out.

[00:52:45] So I don’t know. It’s kind of interesting. Cause like you have like the perspective of someone who may be ready to go on the road or the perspective of someone who may just be recording in their own house, you know, you’ve kind of have the best of both worlds. Again, we’re very similar, but also like complete

[00:53:02] Emily: opposite.

[00:53:02] Yeah. And both of those worlds are very valid experiences to have as a musician. If you don’t go on tour and record records that get released commercially, that’s fine. That’s fine. As long as you’re okay with it.

[00:53:15] Jason: Yeah. Yeah. And like, that’s, that’s another group of people that I feel like when we started the channel, like we were very focused on because it’s just like not, everybody’s going to go on tour, not everybody’s, you know, not everybody’s going to do what the other does.

[00:53:32] And it’s just like, for some people it is. A job like that. I was like, okay, I’m coming in. Let me get my camper, learn these songs and go out. And then like, and then for some people it’s like, I’m going to sit in my bedroom and just play with all this stuff. And I think both of those worlds are very valid and you know, there’s just not a lot of dialogue between the two.

[00:53:54] And for me, it’s just like, I remember when I stumbled on, on your star cast to review and I was just like, yes, finally someone gets it. Cause like I was saying earlier, I was just like one for me. I think the takeaway from that for me, I was like, man, she really likes that guitar.

[00:54:11] Emily: Yeah. I played that guitar live all the time

[00:54:16] Jason: and that was the thing.

[00:54:17] It was just like, man, I think like for me, I was like, man, Emily looks like someone I can just chill with and like talk gear with. And, and like, those are the types of roof. Like those are the types of channels that I gravitate towards. And. When we started this channel, that was something that we definitely wanted to have, like, Hey, like, cause it’s not a competition and that’s how I viewed music in general.

[00:54:40] Like nothing’s in the competition. It’s like, if I can’t, you know, if I can’t hang out with this group of people and just have fun because we’re both quote unquote competing. And I was like, there’s no com competition. So it’s like, so that’s, that’s what I like gravitated towards. And that’s kind of what I was hoping the channel would come across as like, you know, if, if people can’t hear, hang out with TNR, slight TME and like they have an issue then.

[00:55:11] Emily: It’s like, I always, whenever someone leaves a nasty comment on the page, like 99% of the time, I just respond. Thanks for watching. And I don’t care. Sometimes people will say things like, oh, you should play upfront and, and talk about it later. I’m like, Hey, there’s lots of channels that do that. And the other thing about like being self-conscious with playing, um, I know that people, I know when people are watching my demos and it’s exactly what you said.

[00:55:36] They want to see somebody get excited about a piece of gear and kind of walk through it and feel like they’re hanging out with just like an, another nerdy gear friend. Nobody’s watching my videos because I’m a virtuoso on guitar. Nobody’s watching my videos to hear, um, like me play replacements, esque, rips, or anything like that.

[00:55:56] Like I get it. And it’s, it’s it’s cause it’s about, it’s about the product that I’m demoing, especially if I’m getting paid for that review. Um, it’s not about me trying to show off and I think that there are plenty of channels where the guitarist demoing is absolutely phenomenal and like demos in the dark.

[00:56:14] I don’t need to try to compete with. Yeah, I just gotta be me and I’ll be happier, not stressing out about trying to like, get that perfect take. I leave my flubs in every video.

[00:56:25] Jason: Oh yeah. There was a bunch of B roll, like, oh my God. Yeah. Um, but no, that’s the thing, like when, as a viewer, I tried to approach things as, okay, is this person demoing the gear or the demo in their skills?

[00:56:42] And it’s just like, you know, I’m fine with either. Or, but that, you know, is this what I’m looking for? And I don’t know. It was just, just for me being, being me is just, I kind of wanted to have that with us and was like, okay. You know, obviously, you know, we’re, you know, we’re not like, you know, Joe Satriani or whatnot, but, but I w I personally want it to be relatable.

[00:57:06] And it’s, like I said, like I personally grabbed it. Towards those channels. Like, like that’s why I love Ryan’s channel. Like, like I remember watching one of his videos and I was like, this is a guy I would hang out with. And it’s just, yeah, I just, I was like, this is a guy I would hang out with. And it was his, uh, it was his vintage modified jazz master review that got me.

[00:57:28] Cause it was like, okay, here’s a guy that really loves what he’s doing. And he really likes this guitar and it cause there’s other reviews on, on that same guitar. This person is just trying to find nice things to say. Cause they don’t like it.

[00:57:46] Tia: One of the things that like helps set our channel apart from some, some others.

[00:57:50] Um, because like you said, you know, like w like, like you will keep in mistakes. And I think that like adds a level of like, oh, these are real people. Like, we’re not like Instagram guitars where we’re going to do it, you know, take a hundred takes to get it right. We pretty much run it up a little bit. Like it’s like our playing isn’t perfect.

[00:58:12] Because again, we’re real people. We’re not going to sit here for hours and hours and hours until we get it just right. And then, you know, like a 32nd clip, like it’s just pretty much just a quick run through. Yeah.

[00:58:23] Emily: Yeah. We got, we got, we got shit to do. Yeah. I gotta go to work.

[00:58:29] Jason: I want to say like the last, like, even the last video we did, it was kind of funny in retrospect to think about it.

[00:58:35] Cause it was like. And like, we both was just kind of just ran through it. And I think that was the only time where we were like, should we go back? Yeah. Because we were because like, you, I’m very self-conscious as well. And I remember like Xander and Nelson, just standing there and being like, you guys that sounded great.

[00:58:56] Like,

[00:58:57] Emily: yeah. My worst critic.

[00:59:01] Jason: Exactly. Well, they like same, same way here. It’s just, yeah. So it’s for me, it’s I like, um, I just wanted to be that person for myself and, you know, and I was feeling that way. Cause it’s, you know, it was 20, 21 and. Not everyone that like gets a slow, is going to be playing blues, licks on it.

[00:59:25] And it’s just like,

[00:59:26] Emily: I don’t think most people who get it slow should be playing the blues Lakeside.

[00:59:35] Jason: There’s a couple of videos. I

[00:59:36] Emily: was like, really, really? It was like, you guys have a slow

[00:59:43] Jason: and like, there was one review. Um, and it was a written review. Um, the guitar center website, I’m not going to, so people can go and check it out. And it was like, clearly this guy who was like Joe Bonamassa, like type, like not really into the ambient music.

[00:59:58] And he gave it like the scathing review. And I was like,

[01:00:04] Emily: yeah, it’s fine. It’s it’s. And that I keep, I keep saying this all the time. I feel like I have to keep saying it. It’s okay. If something isn’t for you, it’s totally fine. If it’s for other people just acknowledge like this isn’t my thing. But if you like, this is probably your thing.

[01:00:20] I play so many pedals that are legit, not my thing. I’m not a big fuzz person, but I can get it when somebody wants to do fuss. I’m not a big shimmer river person, but I totally get it when people want to do shimmer reverb. Like it’s about like making it. Okay. And that’s another reason I don’t like to go negative in my, in my reviews ever, because like, just because I’m not bonding with something doesn’t mean it’s a bad pedal or product.

[01:00:48] Sometimes it’s a bad product. Yeah. It’s a bad product. If it doesn’t work, probably if it’s a $5,000 guitar and they’re sharp fret edges or electronics mistakes, and like some weird things like this Yvette young guitar, I really like it. But in my review, I was, I was honest. Like the input Jack feels too small.

[01:01:07] It feels too small. I was worried that I would not be able to get my cable into the input, Jack. And then I was trying to say that without it seeming dirty, that was so fun.

[01:01:21] I don’t want to die like that in the background.

[01:01:27] Jason: I’m not going to spoil a review because we, we did it on a week. Collectively had that experience.

[01:01:32] Tia: Yeah. With one pedal, one pedal, some reverbs. And the last one, I just,

[01:01:38] Jason: well, both of us were just sitting there. Like I had in my head. I was like, I really don’t want to shit on this thing.

[01:01:43] It was just like, I really don’t. But yeah, I spent

[01:01:47] Tia: like 10 minutes just turning knobs, trying to find a sound that I liked. And it was just like nothing. They just don’t do audio is the descent.

[01:01:58] Jason: We’re not like, there’s the occupant

[01:02:03] Andrew: it’s on one. Yeah. Yeah. It’s like, it’s a larger box format. Yeah.

[01:02:08] Jason: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:02:09] And it was just like, cause like, um, and I feel bad saying it cause like one of, one of my customers gave it. Yeah. And it was like, he supported the channel and I, like, I had it and I just, like, I maybe used it once and then just to play around with it. But I was saving it just to like review with Tia and like both.

[01:02:27] It was just funny. Cause when we were filming it, like we got like all the other pedals that were just like, oh, this is awesome. Then we gotten to that point and we were just like, wow.

[01:02:37] Emily: Yeah. People always say in the comments, like of every video, like you can tell when a demo where doesn’t really like something.

[01:02:42] Cause they just don’t, they don’t talk about it very much. And been, there’ve been a few pedals and I’ll talk about, I can talk about this off camera with you. There’ve been a few I plugged in and was like, I’m not reviewing this. Like I can’t, I can’t, I can’t. So it happens. It happens sometimes. And thankfully that brand never reached out and was like, what up?

[01:03:03] Because it’s not like I was thinking I wasn’t getting paid for that one. They just sent me the pedal to see if I liked it. I’m like, well, okay. Yeah,

[01:03:10] Jason: I think, um, that’s a cool thing about Zander too. Cause uh, one of our Zander, our producer he’s very much into like fuzz and drive. So he kind of stares us in that direction, which we haven’t done a fuzzer drive yet, but we’re going to, um, analytics.

[01:03:27] So it’s kind of cool that we have like different strokes. So like, you know, I don’t, I don’t think like, um, I think I could review the  and what I like about it and, you know, Zander can come into that world being a big fuzz person and vice versa. So it’s just like, I like the

[01:03:47] Emily: dynamic. Yeah. Our one  I get, I get why people that people don’t, I guess that there are a lot of people’s have very harsh feelings about it, but I, I liked it more than the D one.

[01:04:00] Jason: Yeah, no, like I

[01:04:01] Emily: remember. Leans into being a stereo pedal a lot better than the

[01:04:08] Jason: see, I love reverb pedals and like the  for me. Um, cause I said this, I said this in our review and I was like, I’m so tired of shimmer. And then I got to the glitch setting and I was like, yeah, I liked

[01:04:20] Emily: the glitch setting. That was my favorite by a lot.

[01:04:23] Andrew: I think a lot of the people that were, were taking a dump on the  are the, the worship guitar player, diva types.

[01:04:31] Emily: It’s not even just an Andrew. I’ve heard lots of people, lots of things. People say they didn’t really like it, or the most

[01:04:38] Andrew: criticism that I’ve seen has been in the worship groups.

[01:04:40] Emily: Yeah. Well, they are always the most critical cause because heaven forbid something not before them.

[01:04:46] Andrew: They, they, they had an aneurysm when the night sky came out like this isn’t good for worship.

[01:04:52] Jason: It’s not the big sky. I don’t want it. Right.

[01:04:56] Emily: Big sky,

[01:04:58] Jason: big sky park, 2 0 1. This guy

[01:05:05] Emily: use the same setting on everything.

[01:05:08] Andrew: It’s the cloud algorithm with a slightly different tweak on it. Yeah.

[01:05:12] Jason: Yeah. And this, the thing, the thing is I like, because, and I’m not saying this because our relationship with them, but it’s like, I love striving and stuff, but I in like with the , I was like, I’m not afraid to say that so far from what we played, the R one was my favorite pebble of this year.

[01:05:29] Mostly because of the glitch setting. And it’s just like, that’s kind of cool. Cause it’s like, I’m so tired of shimmer. Like every pedal has shimmer and it’s just like, I get it. It’s cool. Then we go on to something.

[01:05:42] Emily: Yeah, I get it. I

[01:05:45] Andrew: personally like shimmery type effects, but what I always find like same thing with the descent is it feels like it’s trying to do two things.

[01:05:52] Just not very well at the same time, I’d rather have a really solid reverb pedal and be able to swap on an octave effect separately and achieve that shimmer effect. And it always sounds better than any shimmer algorithm I’ve ever played with just running them separately that way. I mean, running the Octa up in a two octave up blended in a little bit of modulation golden.

[01:06:13] Yeah.

[01:06:15] Jason: I think the thing that we discovered ourselves was like, Hey, if we want to Paul, we’re just going to get it. Like you said, just get a Palm and separate it from the river. Like, you know, I think that was an interesting combination on paper. It’s

[01:06:28] Tia: just like, yeah, just not for us. Obviously there are players and people who that is for, and that they can find a use for sure.

[01:06:38] Emily: I’ve never gotten worst comments on a video. Then when I talk down about a clon clone from wash.com, maybe I didn’t understand the pedal. That’s fine. But in the video I said, this pedal is only worth $40. If I make $40 from this video, thanks to all the hateful comments I’ve made $45 on that video. So profit, keep, keep, keep calling, keep calling me a dumb ass.

[01:07:04] I’m fine with it. I’ll cry all the way the bank I got, I have 10 minutes left hops. FYI. Yeah, I

[01:07:11] Andrew: gotta bounce it a couple of minutes. I got to grab a couple of things before my work from home shift starts because we’re doing this right before my. So,

[01:07:22] Emily: no, I didn’t, I’m not saying that I’m cutting that out.

[01:07:29] So you’re saying Andrew,

[01:07:30] Andrew: oh, I got to bounce a couple minutes. I got to take care of a couple of things before my job starts in about 10 minutes. So I know I’m the worst.

[01:07:38] Emily: I thought you were gonna say something else. Okay. Fine. All right. Well, um, thank you so much. We want to be respectful of your time. And, um, this has been a lot of fun.

[01:07:49] I really think that we should do this again sometime. Um, where can people check you out

[01:07:56] Jason: right now on Instagram? I should know. I should know her Instagram handle milk. Pilsen handles that

[01:08:03] Emily: Instagram drop some links in the show notes, our YouTube

[01:08:06] Jason: channel, working class music.

[01:08:10] Emily: If you’re watching on YouTube, I will tag them in the description.

[01:08:14] If you’re listening with your ears, check the show notes, subscribe to them. Yeah. So

[01:08:20] Tia: our, our Instagram is I it’s just an abbreviation for working class music. So it’s just w C M show. So that’s our handle and Instagram, you can find us on YouTube. That’s honestly where most things will be posted

[01:08:36] Jason: individually.

[01:08:36] We have our own individual instance, but yeah,
