The Ghost Fax Phase Computer by Dwarfcraft Devices might be the only phaser you ever need. This beast of a pedal has four settings, two of which have secret menus!
Let’s look at the controls:
- Volume – Duh
- Action – Use depends on the mode
- Mix – Full wet/dry
- Feedback – AKA resonance.
- Poles – you can have between 2 and 32 poles. More poles generally equals a “wider” sound
And those modes. They’re controlled by the toggles on the left and right (middle toggle is expression setting).
Standard: This is your normal phaser! Action controls speed. You can push both footswitches at the same time to activate the secret menu. With this, Feedback controls shape of the LFO and Poles controls how screechy the phaser can reach.
- Manual: No more whooshing! Set the sound you want with the Action knob and let it ride.
- Envelope Up: Control signal is based on the input amplitude. Action controls depth of motion. With the secret menu, Action controls length of the envelope attack phase. Poles is the same screech control as Standard setting.
- Envelope Down: Exactly like the above, but phase is pushed down rather than up by attack.
