The Joyo American Sound is an attempt to recreate the sound of a ’57 Deluxe amp in a box. Does it succeed?
I mean, it sounds fine, but I’m not sure it sounds like a ’57 Deluxe. At less than $40, it’s not going to compete with something like the Iridium, but if you plug this into your DAW for fun at home it’s not bad!
My biggest beef with this pedal is that when the drive is cranked, the volume becomes really touchy. It goes from too quiet to way too loud with a gentle nudge, so it took awhile to balance out the volume when I hit the gain.

Hey, I’m Emily from get offset. And today I have the joyo American pedal to demo. This is an amp in a box situation, on loan from Andrew Rinard from the podcast. There’s a podcast. Please check it out. Uh, so I got my students out into new tuna, my trades, that last cable going into the going into a doll.
[00:00:28] So, uh, Let’s just, uh, is not really going to be a clean sound. So, no, I think it’s supposed to sound kind of like a fender American sort of amp. So I don’t know anything about it really. I’ve seen them on Amazon. Um, I seen them on reverb, so let’s just play around with it.
[00:03:18] Okay.
[00:06:24] alright. Well, that’s a quick run through of the Joyo American sound. Um, I think it sounds all right. Like I have this plugged into, to headphones, so that’s how I’m monitoring it. Uh, I think it’s probably great for like playing around in your bedroom situations. I don’t think, I, I don’t think it sounds quite up to snuff for playing live or using to re seriously recorded projects.
[00:06:49] Um, so that’s, that’s something to look at. I think my biggest beef with this pedal is that, um, and like you can adjust the gain on your pedal to go down, but it’s like, if you turn up the gain, if you have the gain all the way down, like this is fine. Like, but if you really want to crank the gain here, there’s such a fine line on this volume knob between too loud and causing clipping and.
[00:07:20] I can’t hear anything. So it’s like, there’s just like a little usable spot right there. And it’s, I think a little too easy to go past it, uh, and just blow some speakers or whatever, but yeah, it’s a nice little, it’s a nice little pedal and it’s, uh, I know that they’re not super expensive. I mean, they’re Joyo Pedals.
[00:07:45] So, uh, Yeah. If that’s not a big concern for you, I say you should check it out. I especially liked the book, voice knob with the dirt all the way up and this all the way up. I thought that sounded pretty good when the volume was in that nice little chef’s kiss spot. So, uh, thanks to Andrew for loaning me that pedal.
[00:08:07] Thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding, please like subscribe comment et cetera. Uh, and until next time, goodbye.
