welcome to get offset my name is Emily and you’re looking like a whole snack which is great because I’m really really
hungry I don’t know what I’m talking about I’m here with the Flora Vault from madaverse Electronics it’s a produce
powered pedal you heard that right produce powered and when I heard that it was a produce
powered pedal hope you’re not playing a drinking game uh I
did not realize it was actually 100 Produce powered this pedal just doesn’t
work if there’s not a piece of produce or something connecting these two uh
pegs there like middle school science experiments this uses the conductivity
of fruits vegetables tubers Etc to make Power there’s not an input jack on
this and in fact Matt implores you do not try to connect a battery or nine volt
adapter to these pegs you avoid your warranty and ruin your pedal it is made to work with the low currents that
fruits and vegetables provide so I have a bag of produce here I’m gonna pull things
out of it one at a time and uh then maybe you’ll have a snack so
let’s uh let me go ahead and get my guitar out all right I have moved the camera I
hoped I did not disorient you too much but I wanted my Elvis costell signature
Jazz Master to be in the shot a little bit so I’m using the Benson Chimera plug-in from mix wave I have literally
no idea how this is going to sound it’s not even guaranteed to work with all fruits and vegetables
um but some most of the normal kinds of things should work just fine so here is
my clean vegetable-free sound foreign

I have a mango okay I think a few people asked
me to do mango this is an organic mango from Peru and uh you just uh
stick it oh there we go let’s see here see how this sounds uh
we’ll do tasting those along the way together if you want to leave in the comment your own tasting notes I think that’d be really sick
oh and as for control there’s a volume control over here and a toggle over here that takes out some of the low end

you know but first I’m going to see if using less of the mango changes the sound

I usually I only use this knife for unboxings and I don’t really do very
many of those but I cleaned it I did clean it I went
upstairs and I washed it soap and water
and let it dry oh
fun fact about me I have something called oral allergy syndrome so there are certain fruits and
vegetables that will make my mouth itch if I eat them I don’t think a mango is one of them
um all right we’ll put that over there
put that right there okay let’s see what’s next
this is a pear uh apparently we’re doing pairs now
all right it also sounds like a gated fuzz

potato this is a red potato I’m pretty sure I got two kinds of potatoes to see if

I definitely think the red potato sounds best with the the tone it toggled to
remove some of that low end let’s try the mango again and yes I do know that the whole fruit
is not in the picture I’m sorry

maybe that was that had something to do with it I think better clean these there we go
what a weird amalgamation of flavors that was foreign [Music]

so this is actually uh the reason I know I have oral allergy syndrome because
once in college I was in Annapolis talking to a roommate at the same time and I said isn’t it weird how apples make your mouth itch and the way she
looked at me made me realize that no in fact that was not normal

those actually do sound a little bit different I feel like the yellow potato had more treble had more high-end

smoother and some are rougher but all in all it is like very much a voltage
starved pedal

yeah that has the least conductivity it’s pretty clear which uh
doesn’t surprise me so much um I did think that fresh fruits and vegetables would work better I’ve never
seen like this science experiment done with Pickles but I know that Sylvia
Massey apparently did some experience experiments with pickles and I’m not super familiar with what she did
um but uh I would say don’t use this pedal with a pickle unless you have unless
it’s the first in your chain and then you boost up the volume right after so let’s say you did your job so handsomely

well uh Matt Olson at mad overse I mean I bought this Pillow by own money but I do want to thank Matt for being uh an
evil genius this uh for the record I do think they all
sound generally the same um which I I you know I actually wasn’t
expecting that I thought there might be more differences but this isn’t like the ranger effects thing which is the most
people asked me when I told them about this pedal uh oh is it like the ranger effects mini bar which has a little
um dip and you put like liquid in it and I think that replaces the clipping diet somehow I’m not really sure about that how of how it works
um but I did an experiment recently with Mike Adams AKA Pusheen uh go follow his
channel and things did sound really different depending on what they were
most beers I felt generally sounded the same uh water sounded different though hand sanitizer sounded different
I will say consistency is not a bad thing if you just want something to be
powered by produce this is it this is just this is a gated fuzz and I honestly
like that it’s consistent you can actually you could bring this to a show no problem and have like a funny and
actually I think I thought pretty cool sounding uh voltage starved kind of fuzz
and then depending on the produce like that will affect the tone here and there but
that’s that’s yeah that’s basically my assessment of it this was really fun to play around with I’m gonna make banana
bread I’m going to make some potatoes and give my husband an apple because I
can’t eat it and make some cocktails uh with all of this fruit I have mostly fruit
some vegetables is a tuber of vegetable I don’t know
