Squier Paranormal Series Cyclone Demo and Review

The Squier Paranormal Series is a new take on the Cyclone that swaps Jaguar pickups for Stratocaster pickups. It’s comfy as hell, looks really cool, and has a construction quality that far outweighs its price tag.

Amp is Strymon Iridium, Round, B

Squier Paranormal Series Cyclone Demo and Review

Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily and you guessed it. I have a guitar!

[00:00:15] It’s a mystery Squire. I say it’s a mystery because I didn’t know that this was coming today, which means vendor sent me something because they love me. So, uh, what’s ever in this box, this is a product sent to me in exchange for this video. Well, let’s see if that’s what I expect it to be, or if it’s going to be an even nice fun surprise.

[00:00:52] Can I hear it for the uf dahs of the world? If the Sayers, those are those who say

[00:01:05] Uf dah.

[00:01:09] Oh yes. This must the a Toronado. No, I’m just kidding. Uh, Cyclone. Um, cause I have a little whammy bar, little vibrato system. That’s exciting

[00:01:29] store. I wasn’t very good at anything throwing at it. Anything in particular. Oh my goodness. Hold on

[00:01:41] Oh, it’s pink.

[00:01:46] Yeah, no, I, I, my favorite guitars are typically black and white or pink. I don’t play a lot of black guitars anymore because, um, well, I wear a lot of black clothing on stage. Oh my gosh. It’s worked out a lot easier for the last guitar I did.

[00:02:16] Time’s a little more snugly.

[00:02:22] Peel you like an egg! Oh yeah. That’s pretty. Wow. That’s a really nice color. Let’s see. It’s like the, uh, wow. This is my other weirdo pink fender guitar. So this is maybe more of a faded shell pink. This seems to have a little bit more life awesome. Like just, just a touch, more color. Perhaps my I’m going to have to hold this up and do some like.

[00:03:03] Adobe kind of color grabs to see if I’m right or wrong on that. But it’s definitely, it feels different than that. It’s definitely a different pink than the tuna tone back here, which I can’t really show you. Uh, or my one other guitar. Ooh, it’s small. Ooh, that’s comfy. Ooh, I like it. Ooh. That’s how that tune.

[00:03:29] Let me find a tuner somewhere. There he is one. I actually took the other tuner upstairs. Someone tune this up after I look at it really quickly, I guess I will put this wiggle stick in.

[00:03:53] It’s a screw in. Important to now. I just want to tell this guitar like guitar. I have big plans for you. You have no idea. I hope that you like what I have planned while that actually stays in place. That’s just not, that’s not loosey goosey even before I put all the way in that pick guard is very nice purloined pit guard.

[00:04:19] I assume there’s plastic on there. Yeah. But doesn’t have that big of noxious sticker. They have to pull off nice little nubs, everything seems secure, switches seem to work. Let’s put them all down to begin with the pickups. Look nice. Ryan Bird from 60 cycle. Hum. Already got one of these in this color to demo.

[00:04:41] And I was really jealous. I thought he was going to get blue. So I’ve picked pink. Ooh. These are really especially smooth red red ends on this one. That’s pretty nice. Paint looks good around the neck pocket. That was one thing on one. Other of these paranormal series guitars I looked at that was kind of odd

[00:05:05] action looks pretty good. Just eyeballing it. We’ll see how it goes. We’ll see how it stays in tune.

[00:05:15] This was tuned down a lot more than I’m. Some of the others I’ve done. I think the tornado came basically Intune.

[00:05:33] Here we go.

[00:05:38] So I recently changed my video processes, how I film my videos. So if you can see a difference, if you’ve been watching me for a while and you can hear a difference. Um, let me know if it’s a good difference. I think it’s a good difference. I think there’s a lot less, I like this old lecture stack noise. I just could not get rid of.

[00:06:00] So I switched from pinnacle to a premiere and I’m never going to look back. I think pinnacle. I don’t want to say anything about pinnacle, but um, my entire computer crash. And after that I could never get. Pinnacle to work again, weirdly a crash right after I installed the newest version of pedicle.

[00:06:26] Do you want to know how my mindset is about that?

[00:06:36] This is pretty attitude. So it’s going to take awhile pricing, some tries to get it to work. You know what I mean?

[00:06:47] Uh,

[00:07:24] it feels good to play. Yeah,

[00:07:33] woof. I get the neck feel a solid B. I think

[00:07:43] I know this has a shorter scale. I’m not sure how much shorter than standard. Everything seems pretty cool. I’m not gonna. Touch this until after I get through at least some of the amplified demo. So keep watching, I am going to plug this into my stream and Radian, and I’m going to go through the different amp settings and the radium.

[00:08:02] So the fender sounds, the Vox sounds and the marshal sounds so yeah, stick around for that. I’ll be back. Aye. A Jiff. Alright, thanks for sticking around. I know that was only a two second transition for you, but, uh, Uh, if you’re not familiar with cyclones are basically Jags or Mustangs. Uh, you have these little switches here, upturns the pickup on and down turns it off.

[00:08:31] So right now they’re all off. So that’s the neck.

[00:08:46] They’re reversed wild in the middle pickup is reverse fund, I should say. So you get a hum bucking sound. When you have it on with any with either the neck or the bridge.

[00:09:24] Does that sound out of phase to you?

[00:09:29] or is it just weird sounding

[00:09:36] bridge, bridge?

[00:09:42] Bridge and a neck

[00:10:04] I might be losing my mind. Uh, let’s see.

[00:10:27] right.

[00:11:13] Alright, let’s take a second to retune

[00:11:24] the G uh, uh, everything’s a little out of tune, but that is to be expected. Again, new guitar, new strings.

[00:12:01] Those sound fine. Um, not my favorite of the clean sounds from the series, but not my least favorite. So let’s, um, just crank the game. First a little bit on my amp sound.

[00:12:28] a little bit more meds, but let’s just add some gain gain, gain.

[00:14:34] Uh,

[00:15:09] alright, do it again. Do it again. Do it again.

[00:15:15] There’s just, it sounds weird to me when you’re, when I use the middle and the bridge pickup together,

[00:15:26] I still like these pickups better than I think I like the stock ones in the supersonic, but. That’s just me.

[00:15:35] All right. Let’s move to some box sounds.

[00:17:35] Marshall.

[00:17:44] I think off the eight off

[00:20:07] I like it.

[00:20:29] Get some funky stuff going with us, honestly.

[00:21:16] All right. Well, that’s a first look at my Squire, paranormal paranormal series, psych clone. It does have these strap pickups in it, which I am, uh, honestly not a huge fan of I expected to like them more. Cause I know Ryan Burke liked his so much, but, um, I, I anticipated not loving these pickups out of the box and I have some replacements already.

[00:21:44] On the way I have a lot planned for this guitar. So this will definitely not be my only video with this guitar. I’ll probably have a couple of new videos coming soon because I already have things like a wiring harness that I am so frigging scared of this wiring harness friends, like it is, um, and intimidating, but it’s from Sean over at Gunn street wiring.

[00:22:10] And it’s something that crazy that he just wanted to do. And, um, I shouldn’t say crazy. It’s something wild that he just wanted to do. And, uh, I thought it sounded like fun. And then I bought it some extremely, in my opinion, ridiculous pickups to put in this specific guitar. I don’t want to spoil too much yet.

[00:22:28] You’re just going to have to subscribe for the next video to see exactly what I’m talking about. Um, but if you’re interested in taking one of these up, I think it’s a great little guitar. I think it’s extremely comfortable. I’d give the neck solid B for like the feel of it. I’m not my, not my favorite of the paranormal series, but, uh, I don’t and love with that offset tele it’s.

[00:22:54] I think it would, it would have been very hard to dethrone that, um, but this, this feels really good and fun and I really dig it a lot. Um, well I have to say about it. I think. It might just be my year. So let me know in the comments, if you thought there was some, something odd happening here in terms of phasing with the middle and the bridge, something just didn’t sound right to me.

[00:23:17] Then again, I haven’t played a Stratocaster style guitar and so long. I don’t know. Maybe that is how it’s supposed to sound. So let me know how ignorant I am so I can learn something. I do like learning things. Um, And if you do want to buy one of these guitars, uh, I think they’re shipping now from the fender website, but if you do feel like buying it from reverb.com, please use the link in the video description, we get a 1% back of whatever you buy and it costs you $0.

[00:23:46] So it’s, if you are already going to get something, uh, you can get us back just like the 1%. Um, and then if you want to put the music you make with your new guitar and your new gear from reverb on. Out into the world. I recommend this stroke head. You can save 7% on your already really affordable annual membership for your first year.

[00:24:08] If you use the link in this video description, and yes, we do get a kickback. It helps us do these videos. Um, vendors sent me this in exchange for this view review. Uh, but most of the other guitars that I’ve done, uh, actually I think literally every other guitar I’ve done. I have either bought with my own money or I’ve borrowed.
