The One That Almost Got Away: Mazzette Robert Overdrive

I bought a random French overdrive pedal from my friend Sean and I think it sounds fantastic. It’s the Mazzette Lowerdrive / Robert Overdrive and I don’t even know if they still make them.

Welcome to get off set. My name is Emily and I’m here today with, uh, my, one of those ones that almost got away type of pedals. If you watched, um, my demo on the MAs MAs affects a tiny fuzz from the illustrator series. I mentioned that it reminded me of a pedal. I regretted not buying, not offering a friend.

So I, um, As luck would have it a few days later, actually that friend, uh, listed this for sale and I messaged him and I just said, Sean, sell this to me. And here it is, it is the Mazzette, uh, overdrive. I think it was formerly called the lower drive. It’s um, an overdrive pedal that has no loss in the bass tone.

So it’s supposedly sounds as good on bass as it does guitar. I’m playing my Hersey, that your Stratocaster through my streaming Iridium on the round B setting. And this is a what

all right. And here is the pedal, which I am at first going to turn to the settings that have been indicated. With, uh, some, some marker. It looks like

Oh, my God. That sounds as good as I remember it sounding. And this is, I played this for one, for one show with Michelle Sullivan and the all night boys and Holy Moses, that was on the bridge position. Let’s try it on the neck.

I like it better with the bridge.

someone, someone dialed in, uh, some good tones there. Now let’s do the dark blot. Let’s see, it looks like it’s over there. The round bluff. Ooh.

Last, but not least of those settings, the thin black line.

Good dial down the volume. Let’s see what the game actually, I’ll probably put the volume back up. I want to see what the gain range is.

lot of volume on top in my ears.

So it’s got a good amount of game gain on tab. Uh, it definitely doesn’t get into the fuzz territory. Like the NAS mass affects tiny fuzz does, but I do understand why I, I felt like I was getting the same vibe from them is that the mass tiny FAS is a modified based circuit and this has no loss in the bass frequencies.

So I think that’s probably where I’m getting those similar. Uh, feelings from, so I’m going to put the volume at nine, the gain at noon, and I’m going to sweep the presence knob. So you can hear how that sounds, um, starting on the bridge pickup, but I’ll, I’ll bounce between the bridge and the neck probably.

Cause I feel like that’s most applicable for most folks. I think, I don’t know. Applicable for me. And that’s really all that matters. You don’t like it. Start your own channel.

All right. Well, that was a quick look at the Mozet overdrive formerly called the lower drive no longer called the lower drive. I, uh, honestly, so no. Oh, did they call it the Robert drive? I think they call it the Robert drive. Listen, I apologize. Mozet. I’m sorry, I don’t know the name of this weird mystery pedal that came into my life.

I’m a hundred percent sure it doesn’t say Robert drive anywhere on this box. I think, uh, it was called the lower drive, so, Oh no, it was that the shop the whole time, wherever I am. I tried. I really do. I want you to know that I try, uh, I really like this pedal. I okay. Mini rant. Mini mini mini rants. I have to call this a paid demo, even though I bought this pedal with my money, because I didn’t buy this guitar.

And because I didn’t buy the stream and radium, but I liked this pedal, even though it wasn’t sent to me for free, I paid a friend for it. So there you go. That’s why, that’s why, that’s why these, these, these little notifications and stuff are, are kind of weird in my opinion, but. Okay, many rants over, uh, thanks for watching.

Thanks for understanding. Sometimes you can find these on reverb.com. So check out the link in the video description. Uh, we also have affiliate links for Sweetwater and for distro kid. Uh, we have merged a patriarch and that those are all ways to support the channel. You can also support channel by liking, commenting and subscribing.

Uh, thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding until next time. My name is Emily goodbye. I lied. I came back. I felt like I had to play this on base because S website says that all of their pedals are for guitar and bass. Um, I wonder if you can buy these on their website. I should look at that. I’m sorry in advance.

Oh, just list their products, but it’s not really an online store. Oh, you have to contact them to order. All right. Here’s my clean tone.

And let’s let’s do that.

so unless we have the presence,

all I can do is laugh. When I play this, I play bass generally.

Presets. I think this is my favorite of the presets. I call them presets just because I get the pedal and someone’s already written the stuff on them. That’s not a preset. That’s like old school.

get with the gain all the way up on the base, especially I’m not a big, like, Light overdrive guy.

Wow. That’s enough of that. That’s enough of me just, just playing around, having, having some fun. I have other things to do today, including some articles I need to write tonight. Um, but that is the Mazetta. It’s a French pedal of the website. That’s M a Z Z E T T e.com. Uh, the prices are in euros. This is, I did open up the back.

This is very much hand assembled. It looks pretty clean to me, but yeah, it definitely hand assembled. So when you see the prices understand, um, also I paid $60 for this, which is what I think the person who had bought it had paid for it. So, you know, not, not, uh, yeah, maybe just Susa. I don’t know why I said that.

I’m sorry. All right. Um, yeah, so sometimes you find them on Reaver. So check them out. Uh, I, I enjoy this. If you like the sounds, you can use your ears, you can, you can make decisions upon, uh, about what do you think? Sounds good. I, I trust you to, to use your ears. Yeah. All right. Well, thanks for watching.

Thanks for understanding until next time. Uh, by the way. Sorry, not done. You can get this for fuck’s sake shirt on, or you can get this for fuck’s sake shirt on our website. I get also at podcast.com/shop. For real this time until next time, my name is Emily.
