“I love drum machines through phasers,” I thought to myself. “So what if I put the whole Elektron Model:Cycles through the Line 6 HX Stomp XL?”
The answer? It’s awesome.

[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily and I’m here once again with the electron model cycles and a video that’s sponsored by Sweetwater. Sweetwater has been fueling the creativity of, uh, musicians and more. For decades, check them out, um, check out through the affiliate links. And in this video description, you can buy tons of stuff, including the things you see in this video.
[00:00:28] Pretty much everything you see in this video, including the model cycles. Ooh, over here. Um, and what I am feeding it through here. That’s camera the. H X stomp X L by lion six. So those are the two things that I’m doing in this video, because as you probably saw from the video title, I’m putting the model cycles through some effects today.
[00:00:58] I love putting drum machines through effects. My favorite thing in the world is to put a drum machine through a phaser. So I’m definitely going to do that today. Um, but of course the model cycles, isn’t just a drum machine. It has other things too,
[00:01:16] including a sense in Jen and it’s the whole thing is an FM synth engine. Um, unlike the model, uh, Samples, which has actual real samples. This has a synthesized sounds. So it was pretty cool. Pretty neat. Uh, check out my other video where I use it to squash my writer’s block. I haven’t having a ton of fun with this thing.
[00:01:37] It’s small, it’s lightweight, it’s robust. If it’s in a bag, it has really fun stickers. So I’ve been loving it. Uh, I’ve also been loving the stomp XL. Whew fun. Um, so yeah, let’s go ahead and just go and get started. I’ve picked a pattern at random. And, uh, let’s go through the, the, let’s just go through this sounds kind of one by one.
[00:02:00] So we have our kick sounds. We have our snare metal random brick. Oh. And that already has a little bit of reverb on it. Our percussion, our tone. And our cord, which has a bit of, um, doesn’t really sound like a core, but you know, you can load kind of whatever you want into these. Uh, so what I’m going to do first is, uh, you can hold when you, when you hit function, you can mute any of these things globally.
[00:02:39] So let’s you start putting the, the key let’s hit play, and let’s put the kick through some effects here.
[00:02:49] So I’m going to scroll over here. That’s a ping-pong delay.
[00:02:58] Can you hear it? Is it loud enough? Let me turn my master volume. Ooh, there we go.
[00:03:17] And there it is without the delay.
[00:03:25] It’s all delay.
[00:03:35] Modulator, chorus, echo.
[00:03:40] Simple delay the ping pong. I love how this is stereo
[00:03:57] does. Delay’s not going to be right.
[00:04:04] I’m going to turn the snare on.
[00:04:22] Yeah. That’s what I think is really fun.
[00:04:31] Oh, I’ve turned it into a river by accident. Let’s go back to delay. I meant to do something else.
[00:04:56] Bucket brigade.
[00:05:28] But the tone on now,
[00:05:47] where’s everything else go actually turn everything.
[00:05:56] No, I didn’t. What did I do? All right. I’ll figure it out. Figure it out together. Oh, that I had pattern. That’s what I think I did. So turn the, I think I was on 16. Hit play. There we go.
[00:06:25] Ooh. All those are really for Casa. Maybe I’ll find a different pattern.
[00:07:17] So that’s just the snare. Let’s add the tone and
[00:07:42] I now want to add a little river. I just feel like adding the modulation things is going to make the most sense. And then I’m going to try for some like, like adding in like the delay and the reverb, I think, as in the sense that I’m going to add in some fun stuff,
[00:09:07] I’m going to turn off the delay while we’re playing with my bad.
[00:09:17] It’s pretty straightforward.
[00:09:32] There’s already some reverb on these, so I’d rather just kind of wild with it.
[00:09:49] I keep actually hitting the top button.
[00:10:24] a little goes a long way for that one.
[00:10:33] I had a phaser going, so they’d we go through the modulations now.
[00:10:42] All right. I’m going to turn off the tone and just go with the kick for a second. Cause I want you all to hear just how fun for custom stuff. These two things are going to be what the phaser.
[00:11:11] Yeah,
[00:11:19] I could just do that all day.
[00:11:55] Oops.
[00:12:00] Let’s also turn all the cuff.
[00:12:06] I just like phaser is with drum machines shows the vibe. Now,
[00:12:14] now the Lux phaser.
[00:12:27] Ooh, random wave. Oh, that’s what I like.
[00:12:51] Ooh, that’s pretty cool though. That’s fun.
[00:12:57] We switched you over at Mesa farm a little bit.
[00:13:13] That’s all right, that’s better.
[00:13:24] Sorry.
[00:13:29] Ooh. That’s fun.
[00:14:11] it sounds like Vaporwave now.
[00:14:17] It’s now just sounds like it’s playing in an abandoned mall.
[00:14:31] Oh my God.
[00:14:36] I don’t have anything. I’m not plugged into anything.
[00:15:15] That’s such a vibe. I really love that.
[00:15:24] I just want to,
[00:15:29] I want to go back and try the phaser on.
[00:16:10] And there were tremolos too. I didn’t even get to the tremolos.
[00:16:24] Okay.
[00:16:29] I hate
[00:16:43] a bit loud.
[00:16:57] So this one’s just literally called a retro real.
[00:17:20] See, what else do we have? I have a compressor. I’m a little afraid.
[00:17:29] I mean,
[00:17:34] I, anything exciting there, the storage is going to be wild.
[00:18:35] Yeah, so fuzz on just like the drums and stuff.
[00:18:52] Oh, that felt weird.
[00:19:01] Does that move those around? I switched. Yeah, the phaser into the sun. I like
[00:19:15] just the river. I think the delay is too much or they got take the wrong delay.
[00:20:20] Fuzz after the river,
[00:20:26] he needs to be a wash here, reverb though.
[00:20:34] and maybe a more sparse pattern. Like maybe this one
[00:20:51] I feel like I need a high pass filter on this. Um, so if I had at the beginning and they had the oops,
[00:21:30] I want that. I actually want that farther down.
[00:21:48] Like what frequency is.
[00:22:06] Yes, that’s pretty simple. Sounds kind of Boomi and haunting.
[00:22:17] I kind of want more face, honestly.
[00:23:03] Whew. Well, that was fun. Well, that was just a little bit of a fun with the model cycles through the HX stomp XL, which is extremely easy to use and very much fun. Um, and oh, if you were wondering the amp, I w the amp SIM I was in, cause I was obviously not using an amp Sam on the stomp XL.
[00:23:30] Where’s the volume down where, oh, right there to get the, everything quiet, everything nice and quiet. Um, I was using the stream Iridium as my amp, uh, just for ease. Cause it was already plugged in, uh, the model cycles, the HX stomp XL, the Sherman radium, all that going into, uh, the PreSonus, um, 18, 10. C. So check out all of that in the, uh, the affiliate links in the video description, um, or anything else you may desire check out our affiliate links there, uh, for Sweetwater again, thank you to Sweetwater for sponsoring this video, but when you use those links, it costs you zero extra dollars and you know what?
