My friends at Sweetwater set me up with a few HERCULES STANDS stage accessories and I got to try them out at a few shows! Here’s where I stood on their guitar stands and iPad stand.

0:17um and Hercules stands hangers stands
0:21it’s just called the brands called
0:22Hercules and you know
0:24here you go you might have seen a
0:25previous video I did with Hercules
0:28um after all my guitar well after one of
0:30my guitars fell off the wall I uh
0:32Hercules reached out
0:34and they graciously uh gave me
0:37everything I needed to put new stands on
0:40my walls so Hercules has always been
0:42really good to me and uh I wanted to try
0:45out a few of their other products
0:47because I have uh several things that
0:49are related to you know my office my
0:52studio but I didn’t have very many
0:54Hercules things that I could take on
0:57stage with me so Sweetwater asked hey
1:00you want some Hercules stuff and I said
1:01absolutely I’d love to show you all what
1:06I got the first one
1:08is this Little Hercules stand it is
1:11officially called the mini guitar stand
1:15the letters are GS and then the numbers
1:17are 401 and the other letters are BB but
1:20this is a little stand that it is not
1:22going to be hanging from the neck but
1:24that also makes it more portable and
1:26that’s typically what I use live so
1:28whatever is most portable that can fit
1:30in my mono vertigo bag or whatever so
1:34this is the first one I got uh in the
1:36second one
1:38and let’s just like show you a little
1:40bit uh this first one has
1:43um kind of these metal components the
1:45second one is all plastic and it folds
1:50out and I’m kind of familiar with this
1:52style of stand I have something really
1:53similar
1:54um and I do want to show it to you to
1:56show you how the Hercules one is
1:58different in in my opinion better
2:00because I just got some no name thing on
2:02Amazon when I first started playing and
2:04it works okay but you’re gonna see why
2:06the Hercules one I prefer last but not
2:09least
2:11I got an iPad chart holder if you are
2:14familiar with the podcast you’ve
2:15probably heard me say that when it comes
2:17to me playing shows memorization costs
2:19extra my brain is uh mush since the
2:23pandemic and I’m just not as good at
2:26remembering things as I used to be or
2:28memorizing things after all I play a lot
2:30of shows that are one-off gigs so
2:33learning uh 15 to 25 songs for a single
2:36gig and memorizing them with like maybe
2:38a month’s notice that’s pretty difficult
2:41especially considering I don’t just play
2:42guitar full time
2:45um and I don’t just learn other people’s
2:47songs full time I have lots of other
2:48things that I do so this iPad stand I
2:51was super super excited for I’ve always
2:53wanted one but I’ve never used one so
2:56yeah let me unbox these bad boys and
2:59tell you what I think about them stay
3:02tuned alright so I want to start with
3:04the folding stand I have another folding
3:06stain in my hand right now but this is
3:08the Hercules one
3:10and this is the one that I had been
3:12using I liked this because it did fit
3:14just in the pocket of my mono vertigo
3:16bag but
3:19the Hercules one fits better it’s
3:21significantly smaller and I really like
3:24that about this one just look
3:27it really is tinier
3:30and it’s a more normal shape as well
3:32this one’s kind of like triangular uh
3:34this one full uh this one folds up into
3:36basically a rectangle so that’s really
3:38neat I’m going to drop that one on the
3:40ground
3:41this one also honestly feels a lot more
3:44robust
3:45pull it out like that
3:48and you open it
3:50and you’re just hard just rests and here
3:53electric guitar can rest
3:55and have a little bit of back there but
3:58if it’s an acoustic guitar this just
3:59folds down really naturally another
4:02thing I like about this is and I’ve
4:04already dropped the other one on the
4:05ground so but this has a wider back so
4:10this has a bigger base
4:13b-a-s-e so I’ve be a lot less concerned
4:17about everything toppling over I’ve used
4:20these stands this this style of stand
4:22for years I’ve never had any issues with
4:25the guitar falling out of it it’s kind
4:28of rubberized right here it grabs it
4:30really nicely I think this is a great
4:32stand and this is the uh just it’s just
4:36called guitar stand and it is the G oh
4:39there we go
4:43gs200b but yeah so this folds out that’s
4:47a really neat kind of folding mechanism
4:50my partner actually is over here and he
4:53has so actually you know I don’t know if
4:56the base is actually oh yeah look how
4:58much wider the Hercules is
5:01hi I’m in here
5:03so yeah that’s just more secure I like
5:07that a lot better
5:09I it’s amazing that they both made it
5:11smaller and gave it a wider base
5:14but yeah really quick to fold up just be
5:16careful you don’t pinch yourself that
5:19could happen
5:22and let’s look at the other guitar stand
5:24the guitar stand Mini
5:26so it’s pretty small it’s heavier
5:28definitely heavier than the other one
5:30and it would fit in a mono tick if you
5:33know what that is
5:35um or a backpack really easily it won’t
5:37fit in the pocket of a gig bag probably
5:41without like pushing out a little bit I
5:44think this probably would fit in some
5:46physical like hard shell guitar cases
5:48with um the little foldy secret
5:52compartment in it but yeah this one
5:55folds out like that
5:58and around like that
6:01again really quick setup pretty wide
6:05secure base it’s not going to fit an
6:07acoustic guitar unless it’s a very thin
6:10one it would fit like an acoustic Sonic
6:11size
6:13and uh I think
6:16I’m pretty sure would fit my Gretch
6:18which is uh an arch top but
6:23um it would be kind of close
6:25so we’ve got the Gretch here yep it fits
6:28right in the Grinch
6:29oh
6:31so
6:32you might see
6:34so that’s a pretty thick
6:36this is very awkward that’s a pretty
6:38thick guitar
6:40and I feel really secure with it in
6:43there in fact I’m just going to put this
6:44over here
6:46may I have the grudge back please thank
6:49you
6:50I’m just gonna go ahead and set it up
6:54I put it a little bit close to the wall
6:56but there it is
6:57it’s sitting there all right and last
7:00but certainly not least
7:01the tablet holder
7:04so the tablet holder actually comes with
7:07a little carrying bag which I think is
7:08really nice I was
7:11um kind of feeding this through uh part
7:14of the mono Tech bag when I was using it
7:18um which kind of secured it in place but
7:20this is the only one that came with its
7:21own little carrying bag
7:23so open that
7:27and and there we go so this
7:31took a little bit more
7:33um trial and error I’m not used to using
7:35these but it connects really securely
7:39there’s some rubber there to really grip
7:41like a microphone stand
7:44um and then you close it this swivels
7:48kind of locks in which is nice and then
7:51it swivels on the ball as well but just
7:54like really really swivels freely so you
7:56can get a good angle kind of no matter
7:58what you’re going for
8:00and you’re going to want to put the iPad
8:02in so the bottom is here in the top is
8:05here
8:06when I first started using it I was
8:07using it sideways and I was like ah it’s
8:10kind of slipping down and it never fell
8:12off but I did play a whole gig where it
8:14was just kind of sideways like that and
8:16the iPad it still held but not
8:19completely
8:21um not it wasn’t it didn’t stick where I
8:24wanted to and then I was like oh wait I
8:25can just do it long ways what am I
8:28what am I doing
8:29so I have an iPad Mini a little bit
8:32harder to read it shows
8:35fits the iPad Mini pretty well
8:37and then you take it out
8:41beep
8:42you can see like obviously the iPad Mini
8:45is not going to go
8:47on that at all that direction at all but
8:50then I had my uh iPad full size this is
8:52not an iPad Pro which it is just the the
8:55larger size of an iPad in my Logitech
8:58case
8:59and then you pull up you have to pull up
9:01on both sides
9:03but it fits it
9:06so doing it like that quite secure no
9:10shifting but when I had it the other way
9:11it worked just fine for the record
9:16um but
9:17when I had it this way
9:19it kind of started to slide down like
9:21that as I was playing and it stopped
9:24sliding at about that point but enough
9:26to make you a little nervous but it held
9:28out that gig was a few hours long so
9:32it just kind of got to that point and
9:34then never stopped sliding but yeah
9:35definitely do the vertical
9:41the vertical way
9:43um but yeah that is a look at these
9:46stands as far as which stand I would
9:49recommend I if I can only pick one
9:52I would pick
9:54the flat flatter folding
9:57guitar stand
9:59um that’s just because it’s easier to
10:02transport
10:03and It just fits in the pocket of a gig
10:06bag or the outside pocket of a backpack
10:11or something like that really super
10:14transportable you won’t even notice it’s
10:16there
10:17the other one the mini
10:20probably a little sturdier
10:24but
10:26um like this could this could definitely
10:28hand stand up to the rigors of the road
10:29I don’t doubt the other Hercules stand
10:32could either because it’s so similar to
10:35the chibi guy I got on Amazon years ago
10:39and I took that on tour and it was fine
10:42great Dandy the other benefit of this
10:45fully up one is that it can fit
10:47definitely
10:48confidently fit an acoustic guitar
10:51uh meanwhile the mini guitar stand it’s
10:55not adjustable but there is one
10:57specifically for acoustic guitars it’s
11:00the 401 BB I have the
11:02402 B so
11:06um yeah they make one specifically for
11:09acoustic guitars but I find this to be
11:12the flat folding one the gs200b really
11:17versatile really compact I think they’re
11:20both great I would trust them both with
11:22my guitars and in fact I have I’ve
11:24played a few gigs with them
11:26um already in fact one of my gigs I
11:29brought both of these because I had to
11:32play two different guitars because I had
11:35different tunings
11:36but uh thank you again to Sweetwater and

11:43um they’ve really made a difference in
11:45my live shows it’s honestly a game
11:48changer I used to play with a binder on
11:51a uh on a music stand and uh that’s just
11:57one other one extra thing to bring that
11:59can be pretty bulky I know that people
12:01make fold at music stands but if I can
12:04just attach this to a microphone stand
12:07that’s going to be significantly easier
12:09so yeah thanks for watching again
