Blister & Peel Dual Fuzz by Spun Loud Effects Demo and Review

The Blister & Peel V2 by Seattle’s Spun Loud Effects is a dual fuzz that can go from a clean boost to, as the name implies, blistering fuzz.

The Blister side, on the left, is the more unique side. With “Blister” all the way down, it can be as simple as a clean boost. You can start to turn it up for distortion, and full to the right is a gnarly fuzz that almost has octave tones to it.

The Peel side is more of a traditional fuzz sound, based on the Christian H. Bazz Fuss. Plus, it, has the “Fat” knob for tone control.

Aesthetically, it’s a stellar pedal in the beautiful Gorva Design S90 enclosure with Gorva foot switches that are a nice middle-ground between a soft and hard switch. You still get that satisfying click, but no pop when you turn it on.

Sonically, there’s a lot to work with, and most players will find something in this pedal that they absolutely love. The improved gain sweep from the V1 is especially notable. It’s not just some one-trick pony — this pedal covers a lot of ground and deserves a lot of love.

Guitar is Tunatone Teeny Tuna
Amp is Strymon Iridium, Round, B

Hey, I’m Emily from get offset. And today I’m here with the blister and peel version two by spun loud effects based out of Seattle, Washington, specifically West Seattle. Uh, the guy who runs it is a lovely gentleman by the name of Dan. And he, let me take this first then. The first thing is you can see about it is this orange, which means Andrew, my cohost of the podcast.

[00:00:29] There’s a podcast. He is going to steal it. That I am. I’ve never been more sure. Um, but it’s a duel fuzz. Pedal you have the blister side and the appeals side and the blister side can go from like an overdrive to like, I think it’s kind of described as. Uh, sort of an octave, the fuzz. Yeah. It’s overdrive.

[00:00:54] They can go from nearly clean boosts to octave buzz, which has been my experience with it. That the appeal side is it was a more traditional fuzz sound that offers a wide variety of tones. This side also includes a tone control fat that allows you to add or cut the more Jangli tones. The V2 has an improved gain sweep on both sides and lower noise.

[00:01:21] Overall, it’s also in this very, very handsome, uh, enclosure where these kind of like smooth, rounded sides. I don’t know if you can really see that, but it’s just such a handsome pedal that I feel like I would be remiss to not mention and the reviews that is such an attractive pedal. And it makes me very, very happy to look at it.

[00:01:46] So I’m playing my tuna 17 tuna by Leila Sidi up in Alberta, Canada, and I’m playing it through my, uh, transit lab cable into my Strymon Iridium. So I’m just going to make a quick adjustment to my inner ears because they are bothering me and, uh, we’ll get started.

[00:02:29] so that’s that kind of clean boost? Uh, I will say it’s a little counter-intuitive to have, uh, The first part on the side. Cause I know that’s the way we read, but as we played pedals, we kind of read it like the Torah as you know.

[00:02:52] Yeah.

[00:02:56] Let’s talk the dirt.

[00:03:43] that’s a huge gain sweep. I mean, That went from nothing to distortion, to actively fuzz so quickly.

[00:05:09] let’s try the, uh, peel side independently.

[00:06:13] Hi,

[00:07:18] let’s try them together.

[00:12:34] All right. So that’s just a pretty quick run through of some of the sounds that the blister and peel has to offer. There are a lot more than that. Uh, it’s a very gnarly pedal if you really want it to be. And it can, I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t call it a subtle pedal, but if you use just, just one side at a time is definitely, it can be more subtle if that’s what you’re going for.

[00:12:58] So that’s. This is the kind of thing I love to see in a pedal. I love range. So pedal it can go from super duper, weird to calm and just subtle and tasty and like tasteful. Uh, that’s key to me in any kind of pedal, because it means that it’s a little bit of something for everybody. You can always dial things back.

[00:13:22] But you can’t make it be more really? So yeah, this is the spun, a lot effects, blister and peel version to a highly recommend going to check it out. Let me know what you thought. And in the comments, please like subscribe, et cetera. Check out the podcast. Um, until next time I’m Emily. Goodbye.
