Death By Audio Exploding Head 3 Head Echo Destroyer

I’m here today to talk about the new

limited and exclusive release by Death

By Audio called exploding head it’s

released as part of a bundle with the a

place to bury strangers album which has

been re-released of the same name and

that bundle is it’s actually pretty this

is pretty affordable for a Death By

Audio pedal the bundle total is 225

dollars and again exclusively on reverb

only 500 units available so check out

uh but let’s talk about the pedal it’s

three delays black feeds in to Gray in

series which feeds into red so three

delays in series they all have

individual controls for time feedback

and blend right now you’ll notice the

blend knob is down on every single one

of these so

you just hear clean signal

I’m using the Benson mix wave plug-in

with the talbird Reverb unit on it

um so that’s going to be my bass sound

and then I’m going to use this delay

this pedal does have some tricks that

aren’t immediately obvious the first

being that the out is a TRS out if you

want stereo just use normal TS if you

want mono so I have that running so how

that works is gray and black are on the

ring connection and then the red is on

the tip connection and that it doesn’t

cause a ping pong delay but it does add

some depth to the field which is really

neat the other unique thing is this

Infinity switch how that works is it

feeds the red back in to the black

so

we’ll experiment with that I promise

it’s pretty cool but let’s start with

the black and then I’ll add the gray and

then I’ll add the red so let’s uh let’s

do it

I forgot to mention that this is very

similar to the ghost delay by Death By

Audio which is pretty difficult to find

so that’s one thing to keep in mind as

we play

so it does not go full wet but it does

get quite wet

and itself oscillates

know you are going to ask that

so let’s add in this gray delay I’m

going to turn it down the feedback on

the black

to just below noon feedback on the

graded just above noon time on the gray

is at noon and on the black it’s at

three o’clock

I’m gonna turn the Blends up even more

actually

in the mix you’ll be able to hear the

stereo spread now

the time is a little bit faster

let’s crank the feedback on that one a

little bit and then get the blend up

if you’re listening in headphones which

I do recommend in your right ear you

probably heard that taking off quite a

bit that was really cool

all right let’s uh mess around with that

Infinity a little bit

oh I just love that

let’s turn the feedback a little bit

down on all of them and see how that

changes how that Infinity uh reacts

comes down so quickly that’s pretty cool

keep them all kind of low-ish I mean

quickish in speed

it reacts a lot more quickly

well kind of longish in the speed

you over there you up there

and if we turn the Blends down let’s see

if the how it sounds when the blend on

the black is kind of lowish and much

higher on the red

much subtler

so you can see how that can be tuned or

controlled to react the way that you

want it to the blend on the black is

seems to have much more effect than the

blend on the red so if you want it more

subtle turn down the black blend

let’s see how it sounds with the

black blend down and the other one’s

kind of up

see how it sounds when we set the time

kind of similar on them but the feedback

very different

you’re probably not ever going to get

them at the exact same speed unless it’s

all the way down or all the way up so

that makes it really interesting

I uh I highly recommend uh if you’re

rather than later if you’re watching

um it’s a great bundle with a classic

record uh that is a record by the

loudest band in New York and that that’s

some stiff competition there

um of course that band is fronted by the

founder of Death By Audio Oliver

and um so yeah I just want to say thank

you to the Death By Audio team for

sending me this in exchange for a demo

it has a lot of the things I look for in

a delay uh that Infinity switch so

having the ability to self-oscillate

very quickly but this has the ability to

tune that self oscillation in a way I’m

not used to be able to control I’m not

used to having the ability to do

anything other than control like maybe

how quickly that swells um and that’s

usually just depending on your rate or

the volume it has a really nice stereo

spread without being overwhelming I feel

like

um a little stereo goes a long way

that’s my hot take I think this would

pair really well with their rooms petal

as well

and um yeah so this is a cool take on a

pedal that you can’t really find anymore

that was pretty from my understanding

instrumental to the exploding head
