Demo: Tremstortion by Mattoverse Electronics

The Tremstortion is an analog optical tremolo / distortion pedal from Mattoverse Electronics. It has 8 different wave forms, tap tempo, and the ability to put the distortion before or after the tremolo (and a mystery inversion option)!

So let’s get started… It has a few standard controls:

  1. Rate
  2. Depth
  3. Output (volume)
  4. Gain

I think you get those, so I won’t dwell.

The red knob is where you select the wave:

  1. Ramp up
  2. Ramp down
  3. Square
  4. Triangle
  5. Sine
  6. Sweep
  7. Random Pulse
  8. Random slopes

My favorite feature is the toggle. When the toggle is to the right, gain happens before the tremolo (pretty standard). To the left, gain happens after the tremolo, which I really love with the ramp up wave form. The middle position is pretty money, too. It’s called “mystery inversion,” and, according to the manual, it links different parts of the signal path together via the tremolo waveform. You have to turn the gain down to hear the tremolo, but it’s one of my favorite features.
