Dueling DOD Rubberneck Analog Delays

[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily and I’m here today with not one but two rubber neck, D O D analog delay pedals. Uh, these are widely appreciated as just a fantastic analog delay. Um, that’s very affordable, often goes on sale. Um, so if you can find one of these, I do recommend it. I did a full day.

[00:00:25] Of just one with other effects running through its effects loop. But today I’m going to try and have a little bit of fun. With two of them, but to DOD rubber necks, uh, running into each other’s effects loop. Uh, and then I’m probably going to do a little stereo action. I’ll see how long I can keep something in my internal battery going as far as, uh, having fun with, with these two pedals.

[00:00:53] So I have my fender Telecaster deluxe of Antara road warrior. Series and I’m going to tune it on the camera. Uh, camera,

[00:01:12] you know, what’s better than one delay, two delays if you didn’t, if you didn’t listen to the episode with my band Sunday, crush of the, get off that podcast. My singer Jen Lee singer, Jenna has multiple delays on her board and I just think it’s the best. I think it’s so fun.

[00:01:34] All right, then the neck

[00:01:44] I’m playing this through the striving Iridium on the round B setting, I’m actually going to put in just a scourge of room reverb there. Uh, let’s let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and talk a little bit about the country. On this, we have time, which can also be controlled via tap tempo. Uh, the number of repeats, the level of the mix.

[00:02:06] Um, you have, uh, this toggle here, uh, that you can do a dry kill with a toggle all the way up. You can run it on trails or true bypass. Uh, the difference is to have the trails feature on, uh, it’s it, it means that when you stop playing the repeats, we’ll keep going. Pretty neat. Uh, we have gained in. Control, uh, to add that into your repeats and we have rate and depth of modulation, I’m going to keep that low to begin with.

[00:02:36] Uh, we also have the effect on switch here. Uh, if you hold that it triggers something called the rubber neck, which is why I said I only have to hear to kind of get a region adjustment for the whole. The kind of infinite repeats hold that. I always love on a delay pedal, so neat. Cool. Let’s start having some fun.

[00:03:30] So it was a really nice sounding delay pedal got that, that charming analog sound to it. Um, I had the gain up in the middle with the tone. I really kind of liked that one thing I don’t like is that these tend to turn together and that kind of sucks. Uh, so you just have to be a little careful with it.

[00:03:50] Let’s try it clean with, uh, let’s give her a pizza over there.

[00:04:31] so I liked that sound. I think I’m going to stick with that sound. Let’s all. Listen to the region.

[00:04:41] Yeah.

[00:04:48] This toggle controls the speed of that.

[00:05:15] this panel is full of lots of things that I love a lot. Um, so let’s, uh, I have already plugged the other DOD into the. Uh, return send. So it will start effecting the trails, which is going to be really fun. Um, I, you just didn’t want to APY splitters or something like the, where is it over here behind the cat treats?

[00:05:41] The, uh, old blood noise endeavors split mild will also work. If all you have are Ts and TRS cables and don’t have a little Eby. T R S two dual T S Y splitter cable. You can find them at many retailers for dozen bucks or so. All right. I’m going to turn on the other DOD. So let’s have a little gentle reminder about what it sounds like with one, uh, just for the sake of everything being bonkers.

[00:06:07] I am going to turn up some settings over here, turned down some settings over there. Really try to get. Maybe this time different let’s let’s let’s let’s let’s explore experiment.

[00:06:42] right. Immediately wild, just immediately. Wild. That was a lot more than I was even expecting. Let’s maybe turn the repeats down over here.

[00:08:25] Sure.

[00:08:49] You’re with your foot

[00:08:55] children.

[00:09:16] Um,

[00:09:53] gain an oscillation really worked together. So just make sure you keep an eye on that. As you crank the gain on this pedal, turn it down there. Up there.

[00:11:21] all right now, instead of running these two friends separately or wanting to the other, I’m going to run them separately. Uh, so what I’m going to do is I’m going to trade it. The standard. Sorry about that. Why cable? Well, I was using this, uh, it’s a TRRS cable. I’m going to switch the Iridium to stereo

[00:11:46] and I am going to, this is also how you do, do you ever Damon stereo TRS side and to the input Jack, which you cannot see as it, as off camera of Kimra. And I am going to do the one, the output of the other. So to split the signals, I’m using the alchemists, which was something that Matthews affects used to me.

[00:12:17] Back when they made utility pedals and stuff. So that’s neat. Um, I have separate S like clean signal each side. Let’s, uh, turn the pedal on one side and, uh, see what we get.

[00:12:33] Huh?

[00:12:55] all right. Let’s turn on the other side. Cause right now that was a duel. I was wet. Oh,

[00:13:21] tap both of them. And

[00:13:27] the one is. Well,

[00:13:34] I’m going to turn down the gain on this. Actually, I went through the gain on both of them and will really be with their ears to AB test, uh, the tone control. All right. So we got let’s keep the next at about the same. We got one seven all the way down or pizza about the same.

[00:14:41] now, if I should keep the tone down a bit, which is one of the reasons that I’m really bothered. So they seem to be kind of sticking together like that. That’s really a pain in the butt.

[00:15:29] and you have modulation on one side, just dressing on it.

[00:15:58] right here.

[00:16:20] These are fun. These are really cool. Um, I know this is just the video of me dicking around with two delay pedals. So thank you so much for watching. Uh, thanks for checking out the channel, please. Like comment, subscribe. Um, I’m I still do normal demos is every once in a while I got to do something kind of weird and wild.

[00:16:36] I bought these two pals with my own money. They were not sent to me by DOD. Best of my knowledge, DOD does not currently do demos, uh, paid the most in that kind of. So I’m also about the Alchemist, uh, also bought this guitar, so it was not sponsored video. Hey, fantastic. Well, uh, yeah, so thank you for watching.

[00:16:57] Thanks for understanding. Please consider using the affiliate. In the video description, if you want to buy anything you see in any of these videos, or just generally on reverb or Sweetwater, uh, it really helps out the channel tremendously. When people do that, I’ll have already set up, I’ll say it again, gets is important, like comment, subscribe.

[00:17:16] Um, but otherwise, thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding until next time. My name is Emily goodbye.
