Fender MTG Tube Distortion Demo and Review

Hey, my name is Emily and I’m here with the MTG tube distortion from fender. This is kind of there as they described it to me, Jack of all trades distortion pedal. Uh, let’s just look at the controls level, normal trouble, middle, bass, cutting a tight tighten up that low end that can get kind of fluffy with some distortion pedals.

[00:00:27] And gain. We also have a little boost circuit here. Um, and if it’s anything like the MTG L a, it doesn’t do anything on its own. Um, but it does feed into the, a pedal, the distortion pedal. So it’ll be sure distortion pedal

[00:00:57] confirmed. And that was also mine. Yeah. My a Squire supersonic with Lollar Imperials and a coil splitting master volume master tone. Really fun stuff. Um, if you’re trying to follow along with the toggle switching, this is the neck and this is the bridge. I wired it backwards.

[00:02:05] Keep trying to go too high on that slide.

[00:04:02] all right, let’s play with this tight. I want to drop the gain down because that really seemed to make the tight. More presence

[00:04:33] Can you hear it? Because I definitely can. Let me know in the comments. All right. Now let’s play with these controls. Let’s start with mids. Scoop them.

[00:05:56] I think solos sound better when they have mids, but

[00:07:09] uh, will definitely stand on a mix that really goes into too much meds. But if you want to go there, you can go there. Apparently.

[00:08:01] that’s a lot.

[00:09:23] let’s play with the boost.

[00:09:38] So it can be opposite of a boost if you really want it to be

[00:11:08] Uh, uh, uh,

[00:11:32] All right. That was a little shorter than my a LA distortion demo. Um, really for no reason. But man, I like that. I can, I can hear the difference. This definitely feels a little bit more like if you’re not just going for a rat. This might be your pedal. Uh, it’s really cool. I dig it. Um, I can really hear the increased sustain with the boost.

[00:12:01] So that’s that’s key. I couldn’t get, like, I felt like I was driving it some, maybe not a ton, but the increased sustain was really, really welcomed. So I liked that I liked this tight knob, especially at lower gain settings. And, um, I like, I like being able to have that little three band EEQ there. You can, you can get your sound the way you want it.

[00:12:30] You can cut your beds, you can boost your meds. You can’t do that with the LA the storage. That’s more of a genuine, like a general tone control. Then you can boot and cuss, but you can boot cuss. You can boost and cut. Uh, you’re, you’re, you’re trebling your base, but not, not, not your mids. So, uh, yeah. It’s yeah.

[00:12:54] Great. It’s great. I love, I still love these fender and closures despite having side mounted jacks, which you know, is not, not ideal, but it’s, it is what it is anyway, you know? Uh, I think it’s cool. If you want to get this pedal, check out the video description for our affiliate links, reverb.com really helps us out.
