Ground Control Tsukuyomi Midrange Booster Demo and Review on Guitar and Bass
Hey, I’m Emily and this is get offset. And today I’m here with a pedal. I am afraid to pronounce it’s the Tsukuyomi. I’m sorry. This is not like, so when I was a kid, I was sent to, a school called the Academy of world languages and, Japanese, which I assume that this is the language of The program my parents chose to put me into, they put me in Russian. So I asked like five people. They all had different answers. It’s a middle range booster from ground control audio. And, I’m excited to try it up. And it’s super simple. It’s a lot more simple than the last boost, which had so many, what should do those going on?
[00:00:51] But yeah, here’s the gain. And to the right is standard. And to the left, it boosts your mids. I’m sorry to look at that, but I wanted to make sure I got the, ranges rate because it, it boosts when you have it to, the left there, it boosts meds from 880 Hertz to a kilo Hertz. and then the, the boost is 12 decibels, so knew quite a bit louder.
[00:01:22]I’m going to play this into my strymon, Iridium round B, and I have my mids all the way down on that. So something like where the mids are already scooped and that’s how we’re going to do it on the Iridium on the base. I just had the finger rumble. so do 40. And I will turn the mids down all the way on that as well.
[00:01:43] So, yeah, enjoy the rest, the demo, please. Like comment, subscribe the lo please tell me how to pronounce this. I’m just not good at pronouncing things. And before you shame somebody for pronouncing things, recognize that was the ones says a word wrong, like superba lists or epitome it’s cause they’ve never, they’ve only ever read that word.
[00:02:01] I’ve never heard it said out loud. So let’s not judge people. For misspeaking. Alright, see a second. Alright. I got my Squire paranormal series, offsite, Telecaster, middle position, Stockbridge, Lawler royalty in the neck. Sherman rename round B. I think I mentioned that a gain all the way down level at nine o’clock meds all the way down.
[00:02:27] Triple a one. They set like 10. No, no. What was that number four,
[00:02:43] the shrine and Iridium, because my two vamp is on the Fritz. my silver tone, but it’s, it’s, it’s really responsive. I think it’s about as close to, to vamp as it, as it needs to be. So that’s why I try to do that. If you don’t, if you don’t agree with me, don’t watch the rest of the video. I won’t judge you like you’ve judged me.
[00:03:09] Alright.
[00:03:14] Let’s check our levels. Shall we? That’s something just a little that is quite a bit better. Alright.
[00:03:31] So no meds boosted. Just gotta turn it on with this guy all the way to the left.
[00:04:02] I want to turn the gain on the Iridium now to about nine.
[00:04:16] Kind of bump that to 12.
[00:04:29] Now we hear it. Let’s do a two 30.
[00:04:52] let’s just turn it up all the way.
[00:05:00] I mean, it’s a pretty clean now.
[00:05:36] So obviously it drives that, you know,
[00:05:48] like, yes, that was ladder, but the bigger part was pushing to get more gain through the amp, but let’s check it out with the meds.
[00:06:01] Let’s leave it at about a three o’clock game. So.
[00:07:12]all right. So that, that obviously drives Iridium. So it’s going to drive any tubing up, you throw at it. Also the meds cut through the mix. Well, not that there’s really a mix the cut through in this demo, but imagine it was a full band, it’ll really cut through the mix for anything like solo lead stuff.
[00:07:33] So, and if you do have the, like that, that gain all the way down, it’s going to make a difference and your ability to, to not just be muddied with the rest of the instrumentation in your group. So that’s. Obviously fun. You like the standout. That’s why you play guitar because you want to be up front and center.
[00:07:52] If you wanted to be back in the back of the stage. None of us, the drummers you’d play the drums. yeah, that was a joke. I’m so sorry. I love drummers. I envy drummers. but next I’m going to try this. I think I already mentioned this earlier with the, the arborist. By spruce effects, and see how it drives this kind of medium, medium gain pedal and, how that compares. I’m going to keep the game down on the Iridium for this one to really let, let the pedal shine. and then I’m going to try this, this a little mid range rooster before and after the Iridium.
[00:08:33] And then I’m going to repeat the entire process on base. Don’t worry. Hopefully this won’t be like the world’s longest video. thank you so much. And please keep watching. All right. I’m back back with the arborist from spruce effects. I have tried very hard to get these pedals straight. It is just not completely happening because they’re not bill Curt on the bottom, but if you haven’t already washed my dental for.
[00:09:01] The arborists by spruce effects. I mean, you know, pause this video to watch it, but I’d recommend watching it after, I’ll have a link at the end of the video to watch it. so we’re going to see how this, our little mid range booster boosts the arborist. Not that the arborist doesn’t have enough meds to work with.
[00:09:22] But, just to be on the safe side, I’ve got the tone at noon. I got the gain at noon and the volume at about three fat toggle is up. I’m on this right now. As we start, I’m going to have the gain all the way down. and I’m going to have the meds off. So
[00:09:47] With the arborist
[00:09:55] let’s start boosting that.
[00:10:02] The volume up there.
[00:10:38] Alright, so yeah, it makes it more distortionary versus
[00:10:56] That’s crazy that game
[00:11:25] Get that back to noon, but the only thing better than like being louder or more like Ganey during a solo boost, your damn meds.
[00:11:46]Alright.
[00:12:28] You can hear a difference scale. Okay. Yeah. I mean, it’s, it’s not for like all the time. I think that if you just have meds on all the time, it’s going to sound like gross. That’s just how I would describe it as gross, but, in like key parts of a song, if you really want to stand out. That is best the business suit.
[00:13:31] Nice. Nice. Alright, cool. So that’s like it driving the arborist. just a little, little bit of it. Cause I don’t want this video to be 40 minutes long, but yeah. So next I’m going to put the arborist, in front of our little mid range booster. The so go yell at me. I’m so sorry. I should have, I should have looked up harder than I did though.
[00:13:58] I did look it up and I tried, I tried. I’m so sorry. yeah, so we’re gonna try that. The arborists before boosted meds, because I think that’s a really fun thing to do. I do it on the automaton and you can just toggle . Do you want your meds before or after the Vincent preamp? So, yeah, we’ll see how that sounds with the arborist.
[00:14:18]and then I guess we move to base probably. All right. I see. In a second. All right. Mids. After the arborist into the Iridium with the game all the way down on the Iridium mids, all the way down on the uranium. Round B as you, you know, same, same thing. You’ve just heard.
[00:14:48] Alright.
[00:15:16] Alright, let’s try that with the mids engaged.
[00:15:37] So again, not driving the pedal. Well, not again, this is the first time you hearing it, not driving the pedal because it’s behind the puddle, probably driving the Iridium, a smudge. but those mitts are really going to help you cut through a mix when it’s time for your solo.
[00:15:59]Compared to
[00:17:20] Hmm.
[00:18:12] alright, next, we’re going to play with it on the base. Some check that out. It is. I’m going to have fun doing it. I, I can make no promises as to how it will sound, but if it sounds anything like the guitar it’ll sound good. All right. See you in a second. Yeah,
[00:18:35] that’s my clean sound on my offender rebel to do 40.
[00:18:54] Right. Because that’s 5,000.
[00:19:34] Let’s take that back down. Get the meds going.
[00:20:17] Oh, my God.
[00:21:40] well, see how it sounds when turn the mids on the amp a little bit. Yeah. Just about like, 10 o’clock
[00:22:16] So whether or not you like the mids boost on this pedal is going to the term, depend a lot on how you like meds. And so that’s going into additional amp, probably not doing the most. So I’m going to bring out the arborist, vice versa, FedEx, plug that into the signal chain and see how it compares. So stick with me.
[00:22:45] All right. God, the arborist straight as straight as I can get it for now. Y’all care. Right? So this is my clique
[00:23:01] all the way down. no mid range boost on.
[00:23:43] Yeah, so I can hear a big difference there. I have the gain on the arborist that knew the tones at noon. Well, the volumes at nine
[00:23:55] let’s crank the game. See how they asked you.
[00:24:12] and that’s the magic of a driving your. Your medium overdrive pedals a little bit. All right, let’s do the mid boost.
[00:24:59] drop the tone on the arborists. Ooh, that’s a weird noise.
[00:26:04] all right. Cool. Now I’m going to put. Do the same thing I did before I’ve now tried the mids before the arborist plus triumph after, because why not? Life is short. Let’s have some fun. Hey, alright. This might officially be the most parts I’ve ever recorded, recorded for a video, the most parts. Alright. This might officially be the most clips I’ve ever recorded.
[00:26:34] For a variety of stuff. Let’s just get to it. Clean, clean, well, dry, dry.
[00:26:42] Alright, let’s turn the arborist on. Let’s get everything, but the volume at noon. Okay.
[00:26:56] so a little bit of getting going, and this is the boost after. All the way down nomad this
[00:27:19] so essentially just told decibels louder. Since it’s not driving the arborists, you’re not hearing a ton of differences. But let’s, let’s, let’s toggle the mids back and forth.
[00:28:07] well, that might be the shortest video clip I’ve done in a while, about 90 seconds on the meds after, but it’s not the most like thrilling thing in the world, but it is something to experiment with. that’s kind of the beauty of one of these mid range boosters. And if you’re not like about to gun, like put down the money on something like the, chase bliss, preempt Mark to automaton, where you can decide if you want to cut or boost the meds.
[00:28:37] If you want that before or after the preamp, this is a really good way to explain it. You’re meant with, with placing meds somewhere else in your chain or a boost somewhere else in your chain. And it is, something I really recommend. ms. Scooping, this has been really trendy for a long time. People tell like their scoop meds, but when you’re about to go in for a solo or you want to stand out in the mix mix pretty essential.
[00:29:06] So, I mean, try it out. It’s, you know, a pretty affordable price point to experiment with meds. if you don’t like that, it works fantastically as a 12 desks boost before after your pedals boost, puddles are kind of thing you just really need to experiment with and your signal chain, just ignore the rules, like try it out.
[00:29:31] Do you want it to be louder than everything else? And put it after your dry pedals? Do you want it to really like increase that distortion or, or compensate for low output pickups, then you might want it before. Those, those drive pedals, but yeah. See what works for you. Give it a shot, check out the ground control audio.
[00:29:53]if you want to try it, well, there’s a link in the description. You can buy it via my river of affiliate link. I do get a little bit of money back on that. So it’s a way to support the channel. If you were already looking to buy something, if not like comment, subscribe, that’s also super duper helpful.
[00:30:09] If you’d like. The way that I do demos until next time. Thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding. I’m Emily goodbye.
