Help Me Build My Partscaster from Partscaster Concierge

My friend Gary at Partscaster Concierge sent me a guitar body, and I need YOUR help telling me what I should do with it. I have a few questions and would love your input!

Note: a machine made this, so it’s not perfect, but if you’re hearing impaired and have any questions about what we said, please feel free to ask us in the comments or send us an email with the form below.

Hey, I’m Emily from get offset. And today I have a fragile box from partscaster concierge support parts, castor concierge makes bodies primarily for partscasters, a typical fender next, um, can just be slapped on them and you can finish them, however you like. So he works with you to get a body design that you want.

[00:00:27] With all the set ups that you want for a lot less than a warmness. So I’m just going to unbox. Cause I have some questions for me, for you, dear viewers, about what you think I should do with this here. It’s hard body. So we’re gonna ask a couple questions. I’m going to expect answers serious replies only, and the comments.

[00:00:54] And, uh, hopefully you all can help me design a really sweet guitar, but I hope it’s in one piece because FedEx, I feel like it was a little, well, I don’t know. There was some weird stuff with feather. Well packed. Nice. So I have some parts.

[00:01:23] So it’s going to be a strength through that’s good for a sustained nice Scholler bridge, Nashville to MADEC Chrome,

[00:01:40] those decisions that are easy enough. Wow. I’ve actually been looking everywhere for one of these. I haven’t found them somewhere to reach back out and be like, where did you get this? Um, and

[00:01:58] here I have a card. You guys supposed to open the card for us now I just kind of forget to do that.

[00:02:11] Ooh, it’s a pick, well picks with a fun little hole in them. That’s a very thick, thick. All right. It says, Emily, I appreciate your patronage. And look forward to seeing where you go with us. Bill included is a two piece. Our style Ash body with an angle S style neck pocket. I’ve included a black pick guard in green match.

[00:02:36] Cavity covers. Cool. As well as a charlatan and medic bridge and Chrome front rear. Fair fair barrels. The body has been mostly rough sanded. The two 20 grit will require some more attention before the final finish application, neck and bridge may require a slight sanding remain for perfect fitment once this kind of switch a little bit.

[00:03:07] Um, but should be just about right. Cool. Cool. Um,

[00:03:17] Oh, it’s a valid pick. This is hand-carved from a Ram’s horn and appear in these mountains of France. That’s really cool. It’s not vegan, uh, kind regards Gary Cooper, AKA parts, Casta concierge. Thanks Gary. Um, let’s put that back. So this is the black pick guard and the cavity covers that agreed mash. That’s really cool.

[00:03:45] I’s the garbage guy goes by. So let’s take this out,

[00:03:54] like a mic.

[00:03:57] I feel like it might be a bad idea to take all this out right now and you can’t even see what I’m doing. So that’s going to be interesting. So that’s really nice gray mesh cavity cover. Whoops.

[00:04:17] Thank you. Thank you for telling me which one was up. I really would have not known, not a black Pickard.

[00:04:31] Nice. That’s cool.

[00:04:38] Beautiful. That’s my base and let’s get

[00:04:52] on my new guitar body. And I, I’m going to figure out how best to get this out of my way. Great. Ooh, it’s not handsome.

[00:05:12] So,

[00:05:17] yeah. Oh yeah. This is gonna need to get painted down much more before finishing. Wow, that’s beautiful.

[00:05:29] I say completely off the camera. Oh yeah. Nice. I have never even given any thought to this body shape our style. I guess it’s kind of a Gibson thing. I don’t know where my knife went. Isn’t that other, um, if you don’t have this kind of knife, these are great.

[00:06:03] It locks. Locking is important for knives. I worked in an office with some very young bro type dude. Now I was watching him like struggle, like open it up the freak out a box of one, the pair of scissors. And you’re going to cut yourself. You didn’t get a reel. So I’ve been plenty of people cut themselves on real life.

[00:06:31] Haven’t we all. Sometimes it happens during the live stream and then that’s very unsettling. Oh, that is hot.

[00:06:46] Is that nice?

[00:06:50] Oh, look at that work.

[00:06:55] So then we have the cavity cover. Probably just pops in there really easily. Isn’t that nice.

[00:07:14] That’s really cool.

[00:07:19] Oh, that was a perfect match.

[00:07:23] And we have the back plate cover as well. And, uh, I forget exactly what it’s called, but the screw holes are already, um, God, I forget what that’s called, but yeah, that pops in there. Whoops. That’s my bad. Yep.

[00:07:49] Very nice. So let’s talk about it. What we’re going to do with this. There are a couple of options. It’s such a pretty grain. That I could, uh, stain it or even diet a certain color. Um, I have before done, um, that was, this was on a mahogany, bought it. I did this sort of a surreal, I guess you would call it a dog hair finish where I took, um, purple, um, leather dye.

[00:08:25] Uh, dive the wood purple and then use the white grain filler to get that dog hair fact. Um, I don’t know what, what, how should I paint it? Maybe it’s just so, so pretty to paint, especially that right there is really nice. I like that a lot. Um, so first thing I want you to leave a comment, shy, paint this, or should I stay in it?

[00:08:54] Uh, slash diet it. And if you think I should paint it, what color? Obviously, I like pink guitars back there on my tuna tone as well. Obviously also like white guitars with black GARS and I know I have a black pick guard for this, so sure. I do like a white pink. And if I do a white paint or something like that, Should I like make it like really thin paints of some of the grains still shows through.

[00:09:23] I think that’d be kind of cool. Then I had the black guard, but such a funky body shape. Should I do something a little more exciting than black and white? Should I, you know, make it pink? Should I make it purple? Should I try it? I don’t. There’s this DC, this was Ash. I own, it’s got a deep grain. So I think I could do like a surreal.

[00:09:47] Lime does slash dog hair kind of finish on this? I think that would be doable. Um, yeah. So that’s the first question. The second question is what kind of pickups should I put in this? Obviously ratted for humbuckers, but whose humbuckers should I return to Lawler? Should I get as Curtis Lamberton? If I can get some labor tones for that?

[00:10:12] Should I try a new. A new make of pickups. Should I get something that looks like a humbucker, but it’s actually a single coil. Huh? So that’s my second question. The third question is what should I think? I read a lecture socket. So I’m going to probably put that in there. Um, should I do anything fun with the wiring?

[00:10:37] I have four holes for knobs, so it, um, Default to each pickup, having its own tone and volume controls. But should I talk to Shawna gunshot wiring about maybe doing like a dog eared wiring, like a black dog, kind of a situation like I did for the star casters. Should I see if he can do something different?

[00:11:02] Um, questions, questions that deserve answers. And, uh, as far as the neck goes, I think that. Whether it’s maple or some approximation of Rose Wood would depend upon, um, the color I ended up going, but maple neck versus Rosewood, neck, it’s a setup for a Strat kind of stuff. Um, no, I have a couple of those laying around.

[00:11:33] I also have a couple Telecaster next laying around and I think those would fit. So should it be like. Oh Kelly or strata headstock, or should I try and probably fail and cuss a lot while I’m trying to make my own, so, yeah. Yeah. Those are the big questions that I have. If you have opinions, I am actually asking for your unsolicited advice right now, young.

[00:12:00] You’re probably never going to get that again from me, so yeah. What color should I do? Should I stay in it. Should I paint it? Should I dye it? Uh, should I try to do something interesting with the paint? Should I put normal humbuckers in here or should I do something a little bit more wild and creative and see, see what I can get?

[00:12:24] Um, should I do any wiring fun or should I keep it simple? And what kind of mic should I put on it? So, thank you so much for watching things, for understanding. Let me know what you think I should do with this build in the comments below until next time. I’m Emily. Goodbye.
