Hey, it’s a song where she WANTS to stay and hang out but she’s afraid of all the gossip that’ll happen.
But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s extremely fun to play on the guitar. Once you learn it you just can’t stop.

[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily, and today I’m going to show you how to play baby. It’s cold outside on the guitar just by yourself. A chord, melody arrangement, jazzy. Very fun. We’ll certainly impress people at the holiday Christmas parties this year. Um, please go ahead and hit the subscribe button.
[00:01:05] Check us out. Um, maybe I’ll do a few more of these. I did one for. Uh, Christmas time is here already. I thought that was very fun. I hope you did too. Well. Um, anyway, uh, let’s go ahead and get into it. I’m playing my vendor player plus Telecaster through my, uh, tone master super reverb, but, uh, yeah, let’s go ahead and get into it.
[00:01:30] Alright. So if you saw my tutorial for, um, Christmas time is here, I do. In fact, think the song is, um, More difficult in some ways easier than others. Uh, I think the bridge for, if you can get the bridge for Christmas time is here. You can play this whole song. All right. So I’m going to start on the, that is the, Ooh.
[00:01:52] Get everything in frame over here. Oh God, I think I broke my toe. Um, so I’m going to, I got my middle finger on the D string and I’m going to start with a slide up for. Uh, so what I have there, I am sliding from the second fret of the D string sliding up to the sixth fret of the D string, where I am going to lay my ring finger down on the sixth fret of the, a G string.
[00:02:28] And I’m going to pluck while I do that. The. D Angie to get that cord that has an, a major seventh,
[00:02:49] uh, and I, the reason I’m using those fingers, you could use your, uh, And middle and said
[00:03:03] you could use that. I don’t. So, uh, after the, after the, the cord, I am going to plug the open B string.
[00:03:20] Um, and then I’m going to put my pinky down. So then it kind of depends on whether or not you use your pinky. So, um, I have,
[00:03:34] sorry, major seventh, open B string and putting the pinky down on the seventh fret of the D string. That’s an.
[00:03:57] And that’s a pretty hard thing to get, but you can get it. I have faith in you.
[00:04:04] And then we’re going to go down a two frets and do an open strum
[00:04:20] and hit every note except for the low E there.
[00:04:26] And then we have a little bit of a pull off on a triple it here. So we’re gonna start, uh, with our third finger on the. G string six fret. Uh, uh, so we’re pulling off on the sixth string to the fourth string, and then we’re putting our pinky down on the seventh fret of that D string. So,
[00:04:56] um, and then the next chord is a little Asex. That is. Uh, fourth fret on the D string and the second. On the M G string. What is that? No, it’s not right. Sorry. I was getting ahead of myself and is back to the sick, the old open, uh, a major seventh. So let’s play it again.
[00:05:32] And then we go down to. And AA note.
[00:05:39] Um, so then we have, uh, the open we’re going to go hit the AA note on the G string there. That is the. As you can see the open or the second fret on the G string, and then we’re going to hit a chord there. That’s an ACX.
[00:06:04] And then we’re going to hit a little bit of a walk there. So we’re going to open too. So that whole, that section.
[00:06:16] so the whole section, the whole first bar is,
[00:06:27] and that’s, uh,
[00:06:41] So, yeah, you got the whole first part
[00:06:52] and now we’re going to move to a B minor seventh. So that is this core right here. It’s a bar chord. It’s like a full B minor, but we’re going to pull off our pinky there and what we’re going to do.
[00:07:15] So let’s slow that down a little bit. So we have the B minor seventh, but then we’re going to be pulling off immediately be pulling off our, um, our middle finger and then laying our pinky down where our, it would normally be.
[00:07:35] It’s kind of probably pretty hard to see.
[00:07:40] And then we’re going to be making this little flood triangle shape. It’s an east seven. That’s down a seventh fret of the eighth string, six fret of the D string seventh fret of the G string. Then we have another bowl of triple that boy. So we’re, we are on the beach. Uh g-string there instead of doing a hammer, instead of doing a pull off, it’s a slide.
[00:08:08] Uh, so seven, six open.
[00:08:25] Uh, then we’re going to go back to the B minor. So instead of doing a pool offers, going to hold the B minor, and then we’re going to be minor seventh, and then we’re gonna lay that pinkie down, turning it into. Voicing of a normal B minor, and then we’re going to do another little walk-up and I love to do that with my index finger because it puts me in a good position for the next thing.
[00:08:49] But altogether, so far, we have
[00:09:04] Uh, then the next section is very similar to the first starts out very similarly to the first section with the, uh, a major seven.
[00:09:19] So the, uh, the open success going into the open B string, then laying the pinky down to hit that seventh fret on the. The string, the knee. A six over nine cord.
[00:09:42] Did that, triple it again,
[00:09:46] going back into the major seven. So that’s just like, that’s just like what we had before, but instead of going back down, we hit the high E string.
[00:10:03] I’ll just play it for you. How’s that sound? How does that sound?
[00:10:22] Yeah, so let’s, let’s break that down. So we have already
[00:10:33] so we had the open major seventh day. Now we’re going to play an a six, which is very similar, but instead of having the six Fred’s on the D string, we’ve moved down to the fourth fret where we still have that open a
[00:10:51] yeah. So we have a hyena
[00:11:00] seventh fret on. And then we have this interesting chord. It is an easy minor seventh, so that is open low E which we haven’t hit much of the song. And then we have on the D string, the fifth, and then on the G string, the fourth fret, and we hit them all, plug them all together.
[00:11:39] and then you do a fun reach with the pinky. I love that. I love doing that. I always feel so fancy when I do that.
[00:11:49] It’s the 13th chord. I call 13th chords a fancy seventh chord. So then we have the 13th. Which is, um, so it was like a seventh chord. Then we add the pinky up there on the seventh fret there. So it’s an eight, 13. So we have a fifth fret on the low E fifth fret on the D six fret on the G seventh fret on the B.
[00:12:16] And then we had, then we plucked the open. Um, these are all coordinate. But then we kind of swing on. So we plugged that cord with our fingers. We reach up and get that open each string height E go back to that. You minor, um, a normal and that was a whole section. So to this point, we have.
[00:13:09] Nice. Uh, so next, this is the part that always kind of trips me up a little bit, like in the memorization, it trips me up, but once you get it, you get it. And it’s great. Um, this is so I always, I never don’t make the mistake of barring, um, the D major 17.
[00:13:51] So like you can see, it’s not a lot of stuff happening. I’m sorry. If that was not completely into my, my sincere apologies, I’ll make sure that’s completely in view while I do that. I probably fell a little bit out there. Um, but it’s not that hard. It’s just remembering which bass note to hit is really, really key there.
[00:14:10] So, um, pay special attention to your picking hand there. So, um, I take my one, uh, my 43. That’s 4, 4, 3, 2 fingers. And I just lay them across the high III B and G string, um, there. So, and then I pluck the G string, either the D string and then you lift up. Yeah, maybe I just go up to the next pickup for a little bit.
[00:14:51] so it was just kind of a little bit of a, it feels almost like a dance
[00:15:07] So when I’m playing the. The D major going to the D six, you’re going between a D major seven and a D six chord there.
[00:15:27] But you’re really only hitting that high econ, that high E string, the first time you play. So the first time you’re going to play, um, the, the hygienic, the B and the G, and then after that year is going to hit the high, I’m sorry, the, the D the B and the E. And then you’re going to plug the G twice, and then you’re going to release the, um, These two fingers, and you’re just going to have your middle finger there, and you’re going to pluck the a D G and B
[00:16:12] and you can kind of play that to your field, but that’s, those are kind of the most important part elements on it.
[00:16:21] And then you kind of repeat that. But instead of having, you’re going to move every, you’re going to move the top strings down a fret. So then I bar with my index finger there.
[00:16:37] And then, so
[00:16:47] And then the third time you do it, it’s the same top strings, but you move your thumb down to the eighth street.
[00:16:58] Um, but you don’t do it quite as long. You actually only do that for one bar now that I I’ve done it.
[00:17:11] so, um, I actually forgot what the words are.
[00:17:31] and then we moved to a F sharp, minor sevens on skirt. So we, we. I’m just barring basically you can borrow the whole thing if you want to. But I like to borrow the, um, the low bass note separately from the rest of the notes. And I like to hit the, I like to hit that twice scurry. I like to accentuate scurry and then go through it again to kind of just give.
[00:18:04] Flourish. And then the next chord is I had that written down a, B seven. And so the, maybe just have a drink more.
[00:18:18] So that’s a, that cord is. You use all the fingers pretty much. Uh, it is. I do middle finger, second fret of a string ring index finger, first fret of a D string. And then I have a ring finger, second fret of G string open B string. That’s important. Cause that’s, cause that’s going to be our melody note for, uh, the rest of that segment there.
[00:18:56] Um, so we really want to make sure that rings out in that open, do not let that string get needed. And then the high E string, um, with the pinky there. And then I like to do a nice.
[00:19:12] So I’m half. So maybe you can do that court again. One more time. I like to sweep in the first time. Fuck it. The second time.
[00:19:29] And then for more names,
[00:19:35] you would release the index finger to turn it into a B minor seventh
[00:19:48] you’re playing stuff. So you go right back into
[00:20:19] and this is where it changes again. So after you, when you get into the, I don’t even know what you would call that section. Technically I let’s call it a B section
[00:20:38] and those are the cords. So basically you’re going into that court session. Faster the second time around, that’d be seven to be a minor seventh
[00:20:56] and then this is where you can either end it. Or you can go back through the song again, like if I were playing a gig and this is why I do what I, when I says, let me near, so I’m going back to this camera. When I play so gigs where I do solo guitar, stuff like this, and I do get gigs where I do that and I get paid for them quite well.
[00:21:22] Um, might surprise some people. Um, I will play these songs like this for a very long time, because no one’s paying attention to me. No one note, people will notice if the music stops, they will really notice if I’m playing like a six to eight minute version of a song. They also will notice if I play the same song multiple times typically.
[00:21:45] Um, it’s, it’s just the facts. I’m, I’m there to be like music at a restaurant or music at an open house, or like a dinner party, like people will notice. So if you’re going to play this again, Here’s what you do. And you’re going to go back to the intro here. So you’re going to play
[00:22:17] and then this is a fun chord. This is an M oh my God. So this is a. T low E four on the fourth fret, uh, G D string on the fourth front a g-string on the fifth fret B string on the fifth Bret.
[00:22:40] So then you do a little walk down. These Christmas songs, love walk downs. I did that. And um, Christmas time is here also.
[00:22:56] and then we have an F sharp seventh. So you’re going to borrow across the whole thing. Uh, let me do that angle that better so you can see, so it is a bar and then I am taking my ring finger and I’m putting it on the. B G G string third breath. And then I’m taking my pinkie.
[00:23:25] And I’m walking up the three, five. So, uh, I’m ex I’m accenting that B string. Cause that’s my melody line. The melody should pretty much always be on the highest string though. It isn’t always, as we talked before, for some of the chords, it was on the B string. When there wasn’t a note played on the high IE,
[00:23:49] that’s the. You’re going to go back to that B seven chord. There’s an E seven. That is basically, you’re just playing the low E the D open. And then you’re playing the G string with the, I’m sorry, the, uh, yeah, the G string on the first Friday. So.
[00:24:23] and that is the Asex core that we kind of dealt with earlier. So that would be, uh, open a fourth threat D uh, second Fred.
[00:24:42] and then you just play the whole thing again, but if you want to end it
[00:25:01] you got to that part again, because it was. Uh,
[00:25:09] um, cause it’s starting on the beast. Seven is where you do the turnaround. If you want to end it there, you still go to the B seven. You still go to an Ethan, but the different east seven, you go. So that is kind of like that, you know, if you’re playing an open court, uh, sorry, cowboy chord, you play the D seven there.
[00:25:32] You’re playing the up there. So you’re barring, uh, across the second front from the D string to the high IE, and then you’re playing the fourth fret on the G string, the third fret on the B string and the high Eastern you’re playing the fourth.
[00:25:55] And then you’re going to an 86 cord, just like this cord. But again,
[00:26:05] I have trouble with that one. We’ll be honest. Oh, it’s cause it’s up here.
[00:26:15] So I like to do a little bit of a flourish there if I can never get it.
[00:26:22] but it’s, um, you’re borrowing across the fourth, fourth fret again from the D string to the high IE, you have a Bard I’m you’re you’re pressing on the fifth. Of the high E and the B string. And then you have the sixth fret of the G string. And then that flourish I play is just, uh, the seventh frat 7 7 5 7 5 on the high heat.
[00:27:02] So seven, five. On the east and then it’s five on the B it’s a four on the G the six on the energy, again, six on the D and then corn or something like that. So, um, yeah, that’s baby, it’s cold outside on the guitar. Um, it’s not the easiest song in the world, but it will impress it parties. And if anyone ever gives you any, you know, gruff about it, you say in the context, uh, she actually wants to stay in party with him, but she’s worried about what other people will think.
[00:27:50] It’s a song against, uh, you know, being in other people’s business. Well, um, yeah, I hoped you enjoyed that tutorial of baby. It’s cold outside. Um, please like comment, subscribe. Maybe I’ll do some more of these. Uh, oh, uh, thank you to fender for sending me this very first of shirt. Well, uh, thanks for watching and thanks for understanding until next time.
[00:28:17] My name is Emily goodbye.
