[00:00:00] Emily: welcome to get all set up. My name is
Emily. My hair is a little bit cotton. My strap, uh, many men and women alike,
uh, can certainly relate. But, uh, yeah, I’m here today and I am going to show
you some, some fun that can be had with the. Chase bliss, preamp mark too, from
their automaton series. It’s a collaboration with Benson amplification, and I’m
also going to have some fun, uh, with the expression ramper from old blood
noise endeavors, which was sent to me to demo.
[00:01:03] I did already do a
dental of that. Um, I did also previously do a demo of the, the autonomous
house. Preamp mark to, um, I’m playing it through my super reverb here, uh,
which I have not yet done the demo of and a will. Don’t you worry? Uh, so yeah,
I’m going to have some fun here today. Uh, right now I’m doing an expression, a
ramper using the expression rapper to make a tremolo.
[00:01:36] Um, I liked the
expression ramper alone. Because you can really obviously automates a lot of
things that you would otherwise use an expression pedal to do, or you would
otherwise probably use many to do. So it frees up your foot and, and also, uh,
it doesn’t require thinking about many, this kind of bounce between two things
like you would do for an auto Y or that you would do for.
[00:02:03] Uh, tremolo or that
you would do for a standard like volume-driven tremolo or that you do for a
harmonic tremolo? I believe I stole this idea from a harmonic tremolo from the
Benson amps, Instagram page. Um, and I am sorry. I cannot quite recall what that
was a reshare of, but, uh, let’s go ahead and show you all how to.
[00:02:30] Set the, that up in
your, um, in your automaton. So our harmonic tremolo, uh, is different than a
normal tremolo. Normal Trimble is lot easier. Uh, more straightforward, I should
say to understand it’s a volume. Up and down, it depends. So there are
different ways to do a volume-driven tremolo. In fact, let’s start with a
volume driven tremolo to access, uh, the expression parameters of the preamp.
[00:03:02] Martu you’re going to
tap both of these switches here, the preset and the bypass once. So then you
get that expression and you can see. That these two, the treble and the bass
are at the top there. We’re going to bring them back down and we are going to
also make sure our trim make sure, uh, we don’t forget to set the old blood
expression, uh, that.
[00:03:29] So now that we’ve
turned on the expression, we see that he, and the first thing that we want to
do is tell it which parameters we want, the expression pedals to control. It
can control all or one. And we for a volume, tremolo just wanted to control one
parameter. So I wanted to control volume. I’m going to set up volume to tell
it.
[00:03:54] That’s what I want
to. And I’m going to hit, uh, the preset button and I’m going to bring it back.
All of these guys. I don’t, I actually don’t know why it does that. And I’m
going to see you see you there. It says tow, if you had normal expression
pedal, that was like on a Trudell, uh, you would set the toe, uh, on the
expression ramp or you’re setting the a or the B.
[00:04:16] So for the a, let’s
say I want full volume and I’m going to no. Press the bypass, put everything
else back down. I’m going to select what I want the secondary volume to be. I
don’t want a full depth of the trim alone. I’m going to set the B there. All
right. So now as an exit, this hopefully that worked.
[00:04:45] Cause if not, I’ll
be embarrassed.
[00:04:49] It did not work. Oh
yes, it did. You can see it moving just a little bit there. All right.
[00:05:04] it’s on the square
wave. Let’s move it to the sign wave.
[00:05:36] bounce feature by
accident on. Yeah. See, that’s what I’m saying. I might not have said it
dramatically enough, so I’m going to redo that and I am going to set it more
dramatically. So obviously it’s already up, I’ve got my toe position setting
that a there turn you off. You’ve got that tone. That B position that.
[00:06:08] And let’s go ahead
and get out except from there. And now
[00:06:22] you’ll see, it’s not
moving all the way. I think that’s fine. Um,
[00:06:45] you can definitely
hear that. Very dramatic tremolo sound. You can also do it on a square wave.
[00:07:00] Now the automaton
doesn’t actually need the flying faders to fly for it to work. It’s just kind
of. Uh, nice to have little feature. So that’s a, volume-based tremolo, it’s
pretty, uh, it’s the most run of the mill tremolo, the most normal one you’ll
come across. Uh, let’s, let’s move on to the harmonic, tremolo, which is when a
high and a low frequency are kind of crisscrossing like that.
[00:07:29] So, uh, for this
one, we want bass and treble to kind of counteract or Chris cross. So let’s set
the toe first. So for this, we want the toe to be treble all the way up and I’m
going to have, make sure that the AE is set for the trouble all the way up. Now
we’re going to set the heel position for the treble all the way down in the
base all the way up and make sure that B is there.
[00:07:59] Fantastic. And, uh,
now we’re going to exit. And see if it worked. Oh, it does. And turn on the
tunnel.
[00:08:33] You can see them
kind of wiggling
[00:09:05] um, so there you go.
Ah, that’s pretty, pretty ni turn that off. Stop moving. And uh, another fun
thing to do is to kind of get.
[00:09:20] A fun little,
[00:09:26] a fun little. Um, Ottawa,
[00:09:36] not like that going.
So let’s go back to the expression. Uh, normally that’s controlled by the meds
going up and down, so let’s see if I can, if I can finagle that. So let’s go
back to, Hey, tell position up. Oops. He’ll position down.
[00:10:06] And
[00:10:19] I can’t really hear
that one as well, to be honest,
[00:10:28] they’re a little
bit.
[00:10:54] Oh, there we go.
[00:11:30] Well, there you go.
That’s just a little bit of fun, uh, to be had with the automaton, uh, hope you
were expecting a little bit more movement in the faders. Um, you know, they
don’t really have to be moving that much again to be working, but it’s pretty fun
to pretty fun to watch them work. Um, yeah, I had it running on its own power
supply, uh, which helped.
[00:11:55] It needs, at least
needs around 500, 500 to work, uh, for it to be like actually moving. It’s
pretty fun. Pretty fun to watch it work.
[00:12:58] Well, thanks for
