[00:00:00] Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily, and I’m excited to show you the 2021 Squire supersonic in this beautiful glittery. This is a very deep metal flake blue. This is the color that I really wished that they had it in last year. Unfortunately they didn’t. It did not. Fortunately they do now. Guess what?

[00:00:25] It has this, this, uh, to, uh, perhaps replace the one I demoed last year and was tragically fell from the wall behind me. I have it right here. So here’s last year as mom. Here’s this year’s model. Very similar, indeed. A few very small differences. Uh, this one has a white switch tip and although I don’t have the Vibra rattle on it, the vibrato end was white.

[00:00:57] This one is black. Uh, and obviously this is a lighter blue with a finer glitter finish. And this one has, uh, some battle scars. Getting dropped this one. I also modified quite a bit, so I will not be doing an AB demo on this versus that, but you can see how this shines or oh, so nice, man. I wish I had a light right over there.

[00:01:27] That was really capturing the beauty. Of this, I feel like a light right over there would put that light up there to getting it. Oh. And that light over there is going to hit, man. It looks really, really nice. Uh, yeah. So this has, uh, some fender humbugging pickups in it. It has, it comes with nines. It’s a short scale.

[00:01:52] Uh, I should probably look that up. I believe it’s 24 inches. Um, but you know what? I want that up quite quickly. Uh, I, in the meantime, I can tell you that the nut width is one and a half inches. I did measure that seems to be one and a half inches. Uh, let’s get the specs up here. Poplar finish gloss, poly neck.

[00:02:19] Doesn’t feel sticky at all 24 inch. Yep. A fingerboard radius is a modern nine and a half inches. Very normal 22 frats bone. Not synthetic. It’s what that says really narrow tall frets. Oh, this actually says the nutlet is 1.575. I measured it in one and a half, so I’m not sure these are the atomic humbugging pickups.

[00:02:51] It’s a specifically and, um, six out of vintage. Synchronized tremolo. And it has a vintage split shaft tuning, obviously reverse headstock. Uh, some people won’t like that last year’s models did have some issues with the tuning stability, uh, at the beginning, nothing that switching the nines out for tens little graphite and the nut didn’t solve, at least for me.

[00:03:22] I know that also solved the issue for Ryan Burke. Um, So not biggie. Another issue. People said that they had lashes that I also couldn’t speak on because I didn’t have that. People complained about the switch last year. I didn’t have a issue last year and this switch seems robust. It seems to be staying in place.

[00:03:46] This one was sent to me, uh, to demo, but last year’s I bought. The only one that offender sent to me last year was the psych lawn. So I bought all the others. Uh, it has two separate volume knobs, no knobs. So at the end of this video, I’ll tell you what mods I did on last year’s model, just for a refresher.

[00:04:08] Alright, so let’s tune up because you all will tell me, uh, the wiring is backwards. I believe.

[00:04:22] I think,

[00:04:26] yeah, that seems to be the case. So this is the bridge position, or at least that is, or this either the bridge position or that is the bridge control either way. One of these is backwards and that is how it is supposed to be so that he is in tune. Now. Now that’d be isn’t 10. The G is in 10 days and 10, it was a little flat.

[00:05:07] I think there’s just going to be a little bit of an issue just in general. Uh, keeping, keeping this guy in tune. Um, I did not do any modifications yet. This is kind of an out of the box, uh, situation for ya. So I’m going to go ahead and play it clean. See if I like the pickups clean better this year, last year I switched them out.

[00:05:29] So

[00:06:04] let me confirm which pickup I’m on. Right.

[00:06:09] That is indeed the next pickup. So the neck volume control is the bottom one. Cause that doesn’t mean that fuck. I didn’t sound like a bridge. I am on the next pickup.

[00:06:29] if you didn’t guess from the light on this amp, I’m playing through the super reverb, the tone master super. Okay. Turn the reverb.

[00:06:56] That was on the bridge at that time. Middle physician.

[00:07:25] And the neck

[00:07:49] the worst things in the world.

[00:08:18] And then that was next and that was metal. And let’s try the

[00:08:28] All right, I’m going to add, uh, go ahead and move over to my pedals. Ooh, I’m going to do the compressor on a bit of a chicken ticket. Setting, uh, I don’t suspect that’s what a ton of supersonic players will do, but I’m going to do it.

[00:09:11] cause that hair out of the way,

[00:09:18] um, middle

[00:10:16] Oh, that’s a bridge.

[00:10:30] let’s check chicken on our today. Cause I think we need to charge it up. He went a little flats. These are pretty fresh strings that could have something to do with it. Be also in a little bit flat you and a little bit flat

[00:10:57] D

[00:11:03] he was mostly there a I over corrected this tune, this, this, um, 200 doesn’t really like. The strings

[00:11:17] Loewy was spot on. So yeah, not, not perfect there. Uh, let’s try the awful waffle, but alchemy audio recently relocated to Minneapolis.

[00:11:39] Um, this, uh, this guitar, uh, even last year’s model really liked, uh, gain a lot more than it liked clean sounds. I thought that, and that’s one of the reasons I swapped for the pickup.

[00:12:31] middle

[00:13:19] I should have left those settings to say, what was I doing? What am I doing now on the next page? So, sorry.

[00:14:11] That’s exactly how floppy the CyberArk, I guess, by the way, like complete slack and the strings out of the box. I have like, wow. I’m used to playing a big SPI, if anything. So let’s see what that did to the two.

[00:14:31] Let’s see how the Sila held up

[00:14:36] that he is still in tune

[00:14:42] B, went a Scud sharp. The G is fine. D is not fine. Now that he is fine.

[00:14:59] Tinder does not know what to do with it.

[00:15:08] Yeah. So that’s exactly what happened there. I never fed the awful off the compressor into the awful wall.

[00:15:27] It sounds better.

[00:15:48] sounding tune though. Like at all, let’s figure this one out.

[00:16:00] There the culprit.

[00:16:22] Just doing what we all wanted me to do. Cause I want to get to the other pedals.

[00:16:41] never seen whatever that was to do with Snarks job.

[00:16:51] I’m so sorry.

[00:16:55] And I’ve been like sitting here with this three month, 14 this whole time. And I haven’t played it at all.

[00:18:31] boy, boy, howdy. Things are happening. Things are happening

[00:18:44] because I used up my brother bar.

[00:18:56] Even up to.

[00:20:54] let’s go with the MTG LA starting in the bridge position. And after a quick to, and I thought I turned the volume down,

[00:21:11] not. Um,

[00:21:24] Okay.

[00:21:32] this is like a, their take on a rat fender, stick on a raft. I really think it’s cool.

[00:22:05] This is.

[00:22:13] Um, obviously the still needs sexual love. I think this guitar, I think it was guitar really needs,

[00:22:25] uh, some graphite on the nut. I think it probably needs ten’s.

[00:23:40] turning either pickup all the way down in the middle position is supposed to be a volume kill for both of them just in general.

[00:23:54] but that doesn’t seem to be working.

[00:24:00] It only seems to be working. If I turned the volume all the way down the bridge pickup down here.

[00:24:26] when I see the alchemy audio off of waffle and to.

[00:25:54] And there you have it. That is my look at the 2021 paranormal series, supersonic by Squire. Thank you to fender for sending me this to review all in all. It is very similar to last year’s guitar. I feel like I got a lot more wiggle room with the vibe Bronto there. But it’s very similar to last year’s model.

[00:26:23] Uh, I hope that people are having a better time with the switch. Uh, I don’t feel like the tuning was quite as off as last year’s, but I did have to tune it quite a lot. I feel like that’s kind of going to be an issue just with the reverse headstock. Uh, I, you know, I think it’s just part of how they are.

[00:26:44] Um, maybe. Physics, maybe it’s something else, but, uh, putting T last year, putting tens on it really did help. Uh, and then putting some graphite that is to say pencil led just under, under the bridge there held under the nuts, I should say. Misspoke nut helped, uh, tremendously that basically solved all of those issues for me.

[00:27:07] And I never had those issues again. Um, and also cheese, little wheeze. This color is gorgeous. Oh, I actually wear my shiny shirt, but I’m not sure how well that’s translating right now. I hope it’s translating. Okay. Oh yeah. I love this. I love this color. Oh, I’m probably gonna do is I’m probably going to take my electronics upgrades from last year’s guitar.

[00:27:31] And swap them in this one, because I really liked the, I have the Lawler Imperial pickups in this. So that’s probably what I’m going to do. Uh, so just tell you about the upgrades I did and this one, I put the Lawler Imperial pickups. So I did a pickup upgrade, uh, just because. I could, um, I had a pretty good connection at all to do that.

[00:27:53] I put a gun street wiring harness and to get a master tone and master volume. And I did push pool pots. I think I upgraded the vault, the, um, measurements on those tone pots, um, volume pots as well. Uh, I guess there was probably a switch up different switch in there as well, but I’m not having a problem. I have not had, I didn’t have a problem with my switch last year.

[00:28:16] Um, I don’t find the atomic humbucker pickups. I’m saying I’m going to speak into the mic this time. I don’t, I don’t find the atomic humbucker pickups to be particularly like powerful, but I think they sound nice enough clean. I think they really, really love a little extra, extra compression. Um, I think that’s really, that helps them a lot, a little extra volume and compression, uh, is nice, but.

[00:28:44] Uncompressed pickups are really trendy right now. They’re really in. And so that’s like the thing that you, like, I don’t know how uncompressed they are. I should probably measure them before I say shit like that. Shouldn’t I, so that on me, that’s just what I was hearing problem. Uh, that’s not to say they sounded endemic, but I, I liked the clean sound.

[00:29:04] I didn’t feel like they sounded, I don’t want to say they sounded doll, but. They didn’t sound as punchy as, you know what I ultimately swapped my last year’s model in four, but that’s just me. I do just generally think that the guitar, the think it’s hard with the humbuckers and the paranormal series line that is to say the supersonic and the tornado worked a lot better with some gain.

[00:29:31] Um, and that’s just, I think, you know, works with a style of music that people tend to play them. And that’s fine. So that’s, those are my, that’s my thoughts. That’s my thoughts on this guitar. I think that if you didn’t snide last year’s version, cause you were hoping for, you know, this color dudes is here.

[00:29:54] This is beautiful. I, you know, I was really sad actually, when I saw that this color was available now and I had last year’s color. Cause I think that this is nicer. Yeah. So, uh, again, thank you to fenders slash wire for sending me this to demo. Uh, I like it so much. I think it’s just gorgeous and, uh, very playable, especially for small hands that, that smaller nut with, I really wish they would put more guitars out with that nut width.

[00:30:27] Um, I measured it at one and a half inches with my digital calipers. Uh, I, there are two different numbers on the spec sheet, which is confusing, but I can definitely notice a difference if you have smaller hands, that makes a bigger difference to me than scale length is not live. So if you’re, if you’re smaller hands and you’re having a little more trouble, like getting some of those bigger cores or this bar chords or this reaches in those solos, try one of these.

[00:31:00] If you’re really struggling. Cause I think you’re going to find that makes a bigger difference. Um, yeah, that’s, that’s, that’s what I got to say about this. Uh, definitely a great guitar for smaller bodied players, for sure. Especially smaller handed players high. I shouldn’t say that. I mean, I’ve, I’ve not got particularly large hands, but I’ve also, you know, have plenty of gentlemen, friends that have hands that aren’t much bigger than mine.
