Rainger FX Reverb-X

The Reverb-X from Rainger FX is a digital reverb pedal with DISTORTION after the reverb. As if that’s not enough, there are some other special tricks up its sleeve.

Let’s look at the controls…

LVL: Mix of the reverb from a little to a lot. No full dry, no full wet.
SIZE: Decay or reverb, up to six seconds.
DISTN: Amount of distortion.
INPT: Input control to help you tame your signal-to-noise ratio
OUT: Output volume
GATE: Puts gate before or after the effect
DARK: Toggles between a bright reverb and a dark reverb with some pre-delay

There’s also a lot of magic in the IGOR pressure pad! If it’s plugged in, you only hear the effect when you apply pressure to the Igor pad. It’s surprisingly expressive and responsive, and is a neat little trick to keep up your sleeve.

Guitar is Squier Paranormal Series Offset Telecaster
Amp is Strymon Iridium, Round, B

Rainger FX Reverb-X Demo and Review

Hey, my name is Emily and you’re watching get offset today. I’m here with the ranger effects, reverb X. It is a reverb pedal that adds this store shun to the trail of the reverb. And it has some really cool little tricks in between including this little thing that says Igor. Ooh, and I’ll talk about this in a minute, but let’s go with the basic controls.

[00:00:27] Level is the amount of, of effect, which is a reverb. So let’s just call it that, um, size is the decay. Distortion is the amount of distortion you add to your signal. So you can either add none or you can add a lot. So dropping that back down to none. Input is your input signal and it has this little, a overload and you kind of want to set it so that it’s either like all the way down or it’s only occasionally hitting the overlap.

[00:01:06] That’s what they recommend. So I’ll see what to think. When I think about that. And then we have the out and that’s just the front facing controls underneath. We have two other controls that are going to be kind of hard to see. So I’ll, uh, speak when I am using it. Those since you’re here, but they’re buttons, not knobs, so you’ll see me push them.

[00:01:34] So that’ll be, it’ll be hard to see. So I’ll verbalize when I’m doing that, but over here we have the gate and by default, Button out the gate is before the rebirth slash distortion that just clears any kind of unwanted noise from it. Um, so that’s the default. Um, but if you press it, it turns into a bit of a gated reverb, um, which could have some really cool effects.

[00:01:58] But I was playing around with it earlier as I was learning the pedal. I found kind of like a bit of a glitchiness sometimes, which I thought was pretty cool. Um, otherwise when the reverb gets quiet, it’ll just shut it off. And then there’s this dark button I default, it’s a brighter reverb. That’s immediate, you press dark and you get a darker river with a little bit of pre delay.

[00:02:20] So that’s enough yammering about the controls. We’ll talk about this. This is an optional thing that you put on your pedal board, uh, in the demo, I’ll be using my fingers with it that, um, but yeah, it’s basically like a little expression pad, so you can, um, When, when this is plugged in by default, there’s no reverb happening unless you press this pad and that have some really, really cool kind of a swell in effects.

[00:02:50] And it seems to be like vaguely responsive to the amount of pressure. So that’s pretty cool. I’ll do my best job kind of showing how this works, um, at different parts in the video, but you know, having to plug it in. Yeah. We’ll, we’ll figure it out. It’ll be, this will be shown. I was having a ton of fun with this.

[00:03:12] Um, but the bulk of the demo is just going to be as if the Igor is not plugged in. So, uh, thanks for watching, please. Like comment, subscribe below and enjoy the rest of the demo.

[00:03:50] so you’re going to need to turn the input up when you first turn it on to get to unity.

[00:04:03] Level down all the way, still producing a little bit of reverb. So that’s keep that in mind.

[00:04:12] Oh yeah. Squire paranormal series offset, Telecaster Stock bridge royal t in the neck. I’m just going to be using the middle position. Shrine striving, Iridium. Round B.

[00:05:04] So that’s the level all the way up. I know it’s a little bit hard to see the knobs. I’m going to turn the level back to noon and I’m going to start increasing the size.

[00:05:57] we’re really the size max. I’m going to play around with the input a little bit. Right now the inputs at noon, I’m going to turn all the way down. Surprising

[00:06:16] that overload switch. When also

[00:06:30] Alright last, sorry. I didn’t the distortion.

[00:07:31] I think I said that it’s a reverb with distortion of the trails. I don’t think that’s right. Um,

[00:07:43] yeah, no, that’s not right. That’s like pedals, like the Malta Kano and, um, by bookworm affects, uh, do distortion on the trails. So does the Pelican Noiseworks binford 5,100. As does the electronic audio experiments? The beholder. Yeah.

[00:08:12] yeah. I think those are just two effects. Coexisting. Very beautifully.

[00:08:22] All right. Let’s listen to the dark versus the light. So we were on the bright setting.

[00:08:43] Yeah, I really liked this.

[00:09:25] I figured out, so really to blog for tapping. That’s awesome. Alright, let’s try a little less distortion on the dark channel.

[00:09:51] let’s see what happens. So we turned an input all the way up.

[00:10:59] Yeah, so let’s go.

[00:11:26] that was dark. No, wait.

[00:11:46] Nice. Right.

[00:11:56] I like it. I let’s start with the Gates. So the Gates been in front of the pedal the whole time. Let’s see what kind of fun sounds we can get with it behind the pedal?

[00:12:08] Huh? Does that present? Hardness. There you go.

[00:12:22] it’s got almost like a little reverse sound.

[00:14:42] Let’s fax everything, but the output gate is on, uh, after the puddle and I’m using the third channel.

[00:15:27] Let’s do the gate before again.

[00:16:05] nice. Let’s find our old friend Igor and see how that changes things. So there’s a little,

[00:16:17] sorry. There’s a little plug right up here.

[00:16:23] Right?

[00:16:29] Yeah.

[00:16:55] It’s definitely a little hard to do when you’re doing everything with your hands. So

[00:17:29] there’s a trails when you release it. So it’s not just going to cut the river completely after you.

[00:17:41] Now let’s try it with the gate after that’ll be a harder stop. I think.

[00:17:57] Yeah, that’s really neat. This is such, this is such a cool pedal for being such, having such a small footprint. I can absolutely think of like a dozen ways. I want to use this pedal, like starting now. Like I want to go back and rerecord it. There’s some stuff with this on it. I just think, I think it’s, it’s that neat.

[00:18:20] Um, and for the size it’s so cool. And you can’t really see, but it’s like kind of slanted and closure, which is, I think that’s kind of nice versus just being completely flat. Um, Little little nuns are always kind of weird to me, but I mean, I get it to keep the puddle small. Probably keep it a little bit more a pedal board.

[00:18:42] Yeah, friendly. I think it’s kind of an ingenious take on a mini pedal. Most many pedals. Like I just don’t think are nearly the school and the I-Corps is a really, really fun way to do the whole, um, expression control, especially when you have limited real estate on your pedal board. Like this little guy hanging off and then scooching it onto your head.

[00:19:04] The word, when you’re ready to set everything up. That’s that’s not a big deal. That’s not going to take up space. It’s not going to look like and wieldy in your setup. And I just, I don’t think all expression controls are, are as expressive as the Igor is with this. Like, I I’m impressed. Well, well done well done to ranger fx.

[00:19:30] Um, I’m just going to demo this pedal on guitar reverb and bass is kind of like, it’s fun. It’s fine. Um, if you really want to see this pedal on base, let me know in the comments. I can do that depending on interest until next time. Thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding, please. Again like comments, describe etc.

[00:19:52] I’m Emily goodbye.
