Sometimes I buy fun noisemakers that don’t make sense to do a literal demo of. That’s because sometimes these were limited runs or one-offs. This little synth drone thing from Recovery Effects falls into the former category. It’s fun and has been a joy to fool around with.

[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily, and I’m doing something a little bit different today, as you can see, there’s not a guitar in my hands, uh, but I do have a weird little device with no footwear. On this, this other screen, um, and hopefully clean enough fingernails. I didn’t get a haircut. So I’m feeling good about that.
[00:00:18] But generally I’m going to be honest, I’ve been a little stressed, little over worked. Um, my fault, I take on a lot of things and I just really want to do a video that was a little bit more laid back. Uh, just kind of like a show and tell. So I wanted to show off this little device from. Uh, recovery affects it is called the instrument one.
[00:00:41] I think they made like five of them. Uh, and I bought one on Etsy the day I got my first Madonna shot. I timed that out perfectly. So I wanted to kind of show off this little device, um, and just kind of. Put it through some fun things. I have some friends, uh, here I’m going to get through as many of them as I can maybe move some things out of the way out of the view.
[00:01:11] Um, yeah, so it I’m going to be writing the volume knob quite a bit because it doesn’t really have an on-off. So, um, but it’s a little, it’s a little synthesizer friend, uh, and we’re going to hear how it sounds
[00:01:33] right away. Sounds, I’m going to turn that up all the way. I’m going to turn this down all the way, and I want to put this over here and I think I want to start that down there and that’s. I’ve played with this before I did a live video, uh, with this going through the microcosm and for the microcosm, I turned the mix up all the way and it made some really cool spooky droney noise and stuff.
[00:01:58] It made me really curious to try it with some other effects. So let’s get started.
[00:02:09] Sounds like a dial tone
[00:02:21] so that this style I’m not, this is the one dialing. Fully sure what it does. I don’t know. I started with this. I think this is depth. I think this is rate. I think this is some sort of quantification and, uh, this is just, uh, a pitch shifty boy. So let’s get it back. And I’m running into the stream and a radium on the round B
[00:02:49] You get to hear the rate, increasing
[00:02:57] the depth increasing of sort of the oscillation. So I’m going to start with this down here.
[00:03:22] so that seems to control something. That’s kind of like, that seems to kind of control the underneath the surface. kind of stuff. Which is interesting to me.
[00:04:17] It seems to affect like things interact really well with each other. Um, obviously now it’s just kind of a low pulsating sound, but we had some like squealing noises. You really have to work to find something that you like. So I’m just going to kind of play around with it a little bit more, and then I’m going to rent.
[00:04:53] this is definitely some sort of intensity. Intense.
[00:05:25] And then that sets it back to kind of like, um, an emergency weather services types. I don’t know how else to describe it.
[00:05:43] it’s like your modem from high school, but angrier. So, uh, first thing I want to do is I’m going to put it through, uh, the Alexander effects, sugar cube. It’s really nice. Uh, that I’m a fan of, I am going to, oh, wait, it’s the T R S so I actually don’t need the Y the Y splitter, which is pretty cool. Um, I’m going to put it in to this, get some stereo chorus sounds.
[00:06:07] Hopefully I have put this through a few fuzzes and distortions and I, I don’t feel like it adds a lot, so I’m just not going to all right now, you know, now, you know why I’m not doing that. All right.
[00:06:28] Cool. Hey, fantastic.
[00:06:49] Oh,
[00:06:54] it helps to set the Iridium to stereo when you’re using a stereo pedal
[00:07:07] that I like a lot.
[00:07:18] Okay.
[00:09:01] Huh?
[00:09:25] that sounds like it’s a talking at me. And that’s concerning
[00:09:35] and shit.
[00:09:57] Do you hear it?
[00:10:42] This is the best thing that’s happened to me today.
[00:10:56] all right. Well, I could do that all day, but I shouldn’t. So I am going to, I’m going to try the astral destiny next Earthquaker devices, astral desks. If you’re wondering why I’m only doing one at a time. It’s because I just feel like it’s really fun to like stack these.
[00:11:19] It’s always passing a little bit of signal, which is interesting to me. All right.
[00:11:32] Try it back tomorrow.
[00:12:22] Yeah. I feel like you can’t really hear reverbs very well, frankly. So that was a fun experiment. Because Riverbend needs really, really needs to have a stop. Um, I’m curious to see if an ex, uh, like, um, an envelope filter will, will change the character at all. So I’m plugging this in now. Uh,
[00:12:48] all right. Let’s plug this guy in first. This is the flower pedals hostile wall.
[00:13:34] I’m trying to find something that I think might have enough. So like really trigger the envelope, filter
[00:14:52] Yeah, I don’t think that was the most interesting thing either. Uh, so far my favorite that I’ve done today has been the Alexander sugar cube. My favorite overall is still the microcosm. So let’s play with, um, let’s see, what else do I have handy? That’s not going to be your fun one.
[00:15:15] okay.
[00:15:21] Let’s try the gallows in the morning.
[00:15:27] Another recovery effects pedal. This was designed by zebra.
[00:15:37] My beautiful neighbor. Oops. They’re both my beautiful neighbor. All right.
[00:15:47] Ah, yeah, that’s cool. Alrighty. Cool.
[00:16:17] yeah. Nice. Oops.
[00:16:53] Okay.
[00:18:06] wow.
[00:18:19] that’s an, that’s a pur. I like that.
[00:19:01] All right. Well, I think that’s probably a good place to stop it. I’ve had a litany of fun. Please check out my demos, especially for the Alexander sugar cube, uh, the galas in the morning and, uh, check back in my life videos, if you want to see what I was doing with the, uh, the hologram microcosm. Cause I thought that was, that was really fun.
[00:19:19] That was a really fun way to spend a Friday early evening with you all. Um, please like comment, subscribe below.
