[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily, and if you’ve noticed I’m missing a shelf because moments ago it tumbled to the floor and damage to guitars with it. So don’t overload your pedal shelves, but that’s not why I’m here today. I don’t even know what to say. I’m just a little like shocked by it. But, uh, I’m really talking about the Squire paranormal series.
[00:00:25] Yes. That paranormal series. That you can see there. Woop, there, there are new ones that just got announced today. So I’m going to scroll through the CME site for a little bit, just to show you and kind of talk about, uh, show you what what’s new. What’s different. Maybe visually, uh, maybe as far as I can tell from the specs, maybe give you some, some suggestions on what to look for, what to think about when your considering this, uh, series.
[00:00:57] Scoot over here a little bit. All right. Is this going to make it easier for me to see? So let’s look, Ooh. So there are 17 new products and that includes different guitar colors, including let’s look at these first two. These were some of my favorites, the offset Telecaster this time in a Olympic white and butterscotch.
[00:01:24] Just understanding what these colors are supposed to look like this, these, these seem like they photograph well. The biggest disappointment, I don’t want to say it’s a disappointment. The weirdest thing about the 2020 paranormal series was that some of the colors were, they didn’t photograph well. Um, my offset Telecaster is a Walnut color and it photographs, light brown was turned off.
[00:01:46] A lot of people. And that including myself, but I liked it better than the surf green or the other color I’m actually, I don’t fully remember. So I got it. And I’m just, I was in love with the color. So these were, these were my favorites once some of my favorites. So take a quick peak. So it has, you know, the Telecaster pickup situation selector and a jazz master body.
[00:02:13] Uh, do they both have, yeah. They both have the maple fretboard. That’s pretty cool. Yeah. Um, so last year these were routed. Was basically like you can do a Nashville style routing and these really neat. Um, if you don’t remember from mine, I put a Lola royalty in the neck. I liked that next sound. I added a four way switch.
[00:02:37] Um, the fourth is a series versus parallel, um, electronics. So it means they run one after the other, instead of at the same time. And I added a big. This is a great Monde platform, especially this guitar, because there is a lot of stuff out there already for Telecasters. Um, just a lot of creative things that you can do.
[00:02:58] Let’s check out some of the full product details here. Um, Squire UPC, Olympic white Poplar, a poly finish. That’s pretty normal. Um, Flat top Kerr knurled curled. Let’s see anything interesting. Black dot and lays glossy neck finished just like last year, arnica single coils, synthetic bone for the string nut.
[00:03:31] Yeah, a 9.5 radius, modern kind of C shape. This, this all looks exactly the same to me. Let’s figure out how to close that. Get out of it. Oh, no. All right, thanks. Thanks. Oh my God, I can’t get out of this. Oh, no. I just hit the back button. All right. So neat. Let’s go back. Butterscotch. Cool. I highly recommend these.
[00:04:02] Uh, if, if these colors appeal to you, butterscotch is such a common, popular, beautiful color for a Telecaster. I’m not sure how I feel about it as an offset Telecaster. I do. I kind of like it, obviously. I kind of like this mustard, this mustard color. Um, I think it would go with the shirt really well. And I think would really pop on stage Olympic Wyatt.
[00:04:21] I really like white guitars or the tort pick guard is. I think it’s not, not, not a, not an offensive tort pick guard. Sometimes there are uglier than others. Uh, let’s talk about the Torah, uh, the tornado, uh, they has this mystic seafoam, which is really kind of cool. It’s it looks, um, Kind of like Cromey it’s I think, I think that it looked to me, it looks like the color that you see with the professional two series guitars.
[00:04:53] Uh, I think Ryan Berg 360 cycle Hom called it, see Chrome. So this looks exactly the same two volume, two tone, regular switching, uh, up there. It’s kind of like it’s a Les Paul and a Rosewood, so they both have Rosewood. Yep. They both have Rose Wood. It’s got a quick view. Um, this bridge system, it’s not, it doesn’t lend itself as well to mom.
[00:05:20] It’s like, I don’t know. I think you’d have to like reach rail. If you wanted to like change, you couldn’t just drop in a replacement bridge is kind of what it looks like. Um, I don’t remember loving these pickups clean. I think they sounded better dirty. Uh, I think. Cooler color than last year. Last year I got the darker blue with the torque guard and I didn’t really like it.
[00:05:44] I didn’t like the color. I thought it played fine. I thought it was actually, it felt like a really well made guitar. It didn’t light a fire in me. I sold it to someone. I hope it lit a fire in them. Really. So these are, oh, these are estimated to ship in September. So we’re a ways off. That’s probably why they’re not for sale on the fender website quite yet.
[00:06:05] A Tomich hum. Bucking pickups. So that’s their, some of their pickups. I think that’s what they had. Last time. Scale Lang that’s a Gibson scale length standard. Um, it’s it’s a lot like last year and then they have this burst. I don’t think they had that last year. I don’t remember what the second color was for the Toronados last year, to be honest.
[00:06:29] Um, it might’ve been a burst. I think that looks fine. I think I would do the mystic sea film personally. Uh, the jazz bass, 54. I didn’t play that one, so I don’t really have a lot to say about it. I think this looks hot. I think it looks really cool. I like the black and the gold. Let’s do a quick view. Ooh, that Anand gold Picard maple.
[00:06:49] I think this looks like a really hot base. Yeah. I like it. I don’t have a lot to say about it. I’m not, I’m not primarily a bassist and now let’s get into some interesting stuff. Last year, they only did one color for their baritone telecast cab Bernita. And this year they’re doing two, this surf green, which.
[00:07:11] I think what I would get in this, uh, this Telecaster burst like tobacco kind of burst. I think this is phenomenal looking. I do plan on buying one of these as soon as they get out, because I regret not asking for this one. I didn’t realize that it would be such, um, like so highly sought after. I didn’t know that they wouldn’t make more.
[00:07:35] So I really, really want one of these let’s look at the details. Okay, so poly finish on the body and neck, I assume, uh, Al soap bar single coil. So.
[00:07:54] I don’t know. I don’t think you would call that a PNID then it’s just as a single coil so far. I think they would. I don’t know. I forget. I forget if that’s proprietary, but I don’t think it is. I think they would say P 90, if it was an actual PNID fender is pretty well known for PNID is a single coils. I know don’t, don’t yell at me.
[00:08:12] They’re just, they’re a little different. I just feel like if, if. Uh, P 90, they would say P 90, but fender is pretty famous for, uh, like, uh, the original American professional series one, the jazz master pickups were so bar single coils, but they weren’t really jazz master pickups. They were like Strat pickups and a jazz master routing.
[00:08:35] Uh, so I don’t really, I think if nothing else you’d be able to drop in a PNID and I feel like that’s, what’s important. Um, especially with the Squire and the. 30 range. I think that’s what these are. Yeah. 430 bucks. Yeah. I think that as long as you can make those, those mods, the electronics or the, you can just expect to not adore them probably, but they are, they’re probably quite serviceable.
[00:09:01] That’s my guess. I would probably look to switch that out with something maybe from, from Seymour Duncan. Um, let’s see. Narrow, tall frame. Cool C shave 22 frets 27 inch scale length. Had a dry head adjust trust rod, uh, for easy configuration, uh, through body hard tail saddle vintage style tuning machine.
[00:09:29] I’m a fan. I like those. Alright, so let’s see what is next? Um, this is also the base 54 in a sunburst. I think these are, I think that’s really, this is very vintage-y looking and I like that a lot. I think it’s cool. Um, let’s get to the cat brand, Nita Telecaster, thin lions. Last year, I got the Olympic white with a black guard and I really, really, really loved that guitar.
[00:09:58] Loved it. Um, I wasn’t playing it as much. My friend was interested, so I sold to my friend, the V uh, you know, it was a hard one to sell this burst with this anodized gold. Hot really, really like that. I think that’s really cool. I don’t think it’s, I love the, the white and the black cause I just think it’s simple as classy and classic.
[00:10:20] Um, I like this, I’m not sure I love this finish, but uh, I think that this is a fricking homeless to the F word. This is a really cool guitar and I really. I am glad that they’re bringing this back. I just thought that this played well. I think I didn’t like it as much after I swapped the pickups. I just really liked the pickups that came with it.
[00:10:44] And what comes with it? Phil fender design Alico single coils. So not jazz master pickups, even though they kind of, kind of look like, I think that they’re routed for Jazzmaster size pickups, but I don’t think they’re actually Jazzmaster. So, uh, as formatting, this one was a little bit harder to swap out the, uh, pickups.
[00:11:04] Um, so let’s see. Is there a picture of the back? Yeah. So there’s that control panel. So if you do swap out the pickups, make sure you have some like fishing line, uh, as you an unscrew, the pickups tie some fishing line around, um, around the pickup, uh, probably where the wire connects. Uh, so that was. Pull it through, you can pretty easily like send it back, you know, uh, just like the wiring.
[00:11:28] So, um, we’re yeah, it’s a beast to get the wiring back. So when you pull out the pickups, make sure that there’s, um, you tie a wire around near where the pots are. I think that would be the easier thing to do. So then you can just, uh, tie the new ones. Feed them through, pull it through. Uh, I mean, I have, I have small Dell they’re long, but they’re delicate fingers and I had trouble.
[00:11:56] So if you were like a guy or someone who has like maybe a little more heft to your fingers, you’re going to have even more trouble than I did. So be nice to yourself if you swap these pickups, um yep. Through bridge fan standard, not with and scale length, um, Pauly, Paul. I thought, I thought for Paulie next, which I don’t like glossy Pauline next.
[00:12:19] I don’t usually, like, I thought those were great. Um, they also have this lake Placid blue, this looks, um, I think that would appeal to a lot of people. It doesn’t really appeal to me as a color. It looks like it might be a little sparkly, but it’s difficult to tell from these photographs. All right. Oh, Oh, they have a third color for the offset Telecaster last it’s pink.
[00:12:50] I think that’s really cool. I think the guitar nerds are really going to like that and a and guard on a pink body. Very nice touch. I like that. Let’s see. Oh, okay. So we have, uh, let’s talk about the site clones next, as you can see, I have one behind me. This is a candy apple red. I think that’s going to be very, very popular.
[00:13:13] Um, it had last year, it had kind of more strap S pickups visually. It looks that way. Yup. It looks that way again to me. So it’s not like the JAG pickups. Um, I swapped mine out for. Josefina and well pickups. And I did a really wild wiring mod with these. So this is the pickup selector that’s on and off master tone, master volume and end.
[00:13:39] I worked with Sean at Gunn street wiring to do something called a super series switcher that puts all three pickups on at the same time. And the series really. I like, I li I love playing this guitar. This is a fun one. So yeah, mine’s a little different. Let me grab it. Okay. I kind of, I put some damage on it, but that’s just adding character.
[00:14:01] Um, so let’s see if you can see that I have T I have a toggles now, those kinds instead of these switches. So it’s a, it’s, it’s a complex pushing system, but it’s fun. And that’s what matters. All right. Get you back up there. All right. So, uh, let’s see. This is a short scale. I believe it’s 20 0 24 7 5. So not really.
[00:14:31] It’s like a Gibson scale length, a standard nut with, um, anything else? Interesting. No, nothing else really pops out to me there. I want to look at something. Yeah. So that, so most of these seem to have the standard. Back plate, but I think the supersonic, which I want to look at next minus thing a little bit different.
[00:14:54] I think it had something different on here. Okay. I’m just going to vent for just five seconds. Um, so this is oh, a B that was a beast stock. So it looks like, is that the only new color for the supersonic? Yeah. So now the supersonic comes in this. Darker blue, which is really what I wanted. I read that’s like, that looks like the color of the Toronado that I had last year, but spark more sparkly.
[00:15:22] This is what I wanted. This is what I crave that color. That color is really what I wanted, um, has the different, I don’t know if you can tell the difference, um, neck plate, let me grab it. So, and that’s where. That’s where the strap button is as well. So there’s a little bit different looking, uh, as far as the controls, you, you don’t have tone.
[00:15:49] I don’t think you just have volume for each. Uh, and then this is wired backwards. Uh, so what I did is I put, as you can see, I put the, I put the bridge in backwards, but I really liked the way it sounds. I know I’m not the only guitarist who does that says shut the hell up about it. Um, I put in Lawler Imperials, I worked with Sean at Gunn street to do.
[00:16:10] Uh, master tone, master volume and then coil tapping. Uh, so I play this guitar a lot more with, with those mods, especially the coil tapping, um, master volume master tone. And, uh, it has two string trees. I like that. Uh, when we got this, when I got this Ryan, Brooke and I both got one about the same time and we had the same issues with tuning stability, that was kind of fixed by changing the string gauge and adding some graphics.
[00:16:40] To the nut, this shooting civility is actually gotten a lot better. Yeah. I put some dings in this one today as well. You can’t really tell there, but boy, can you tell there, but you know what? Their Squires don’t be so precious about guitars. What moments moments before the guitars fell? I moved, I’ll do another video about this, but I moved my Hirsch straps.
[00:17:09] And I moved my tele. So neither of them got down just the, just the Squire’s including the one that this one, this one fenders sent me to dental last year. And this one I bought with a coupon. So neat. Uh, I’m I’m super bummed. I would have bought that. I really would have bought that. I like the color better.
[00:17:36] Um, but. I don’t think it’s different enough. I don’t think it would justify me getting it in just a slightly different shade of blue. This isn’t I’ll do that with pants, but not now a guitar. I can’t the storage, the storage situation is just so different. Uh, so yeah, let’s see the, uh, going back to the cycle and it comes in that, uh, candy.
[00:18:03] Oh no. Oh God. I’m looking right there. I’m sorry. Who w like this video, if you were yelling at me, bitch, it comes in pink as I just did not even notice. That’s cool. Let’s look at that pink. Yeah. That is a good shell pink let’s look at the product details. I think it’s a slightly shorter scale. Uh, yeah, 24 inches actually a shorter scale than the site clown.
[00:18:28] Uh, the nut with is also little more near narrow. So if you do have smaller hands, the supersonic could potentially be a more comfortable guitar. Um, as a woman, I like the reverse offset body because it leaves more room for your anatomy. This is true. Uh, there’s a little bit of neck diamond. It does take a little bit of getting used to, to adjust the tuners on the bottom of the headstock versus the top.
[00:18:54] And I think that’s why it has two strain trees to kind of help balance that, uh, get the break angle right on the strings behind the nuts to help with the tuning stability, which I think otherwise might stuffer. I don’t notice a ton of neck dive on it. Um, there probably is a little bit, I find it to be a comfortable guitar.
[00:19:13] Yeah. The more I play it, the more I enjoy playing it. Um, actually the other day I took it to one of my first band practices in a while. And, um, I was really surprised at how much I enjoy playing it. I was like, oh yeah, I’m very glad I didn’t sell this. So that is a look at those, uh, new guitars. I wonder, do I have time to look at the JAG Stang?
[00:19:37] I want to do it. Dang. So fender released. Uh, or announced at least these new Kurt Cobain, JAG, Stang models, um, in the Sonic blue and the Fiesta red. I don’t love this shape. Sorry. Um, I don’t love the shape. I don’t like the price of it very much personally. I hope it’s a very nice guitar. Oh, gosh, it just looks like, it looks like you left it out in the sun, but that it’s cool in its own.
[00:20:13] Right. And it’s a very, you know, let’s look at it. Uh, jazz bass knobs, like this is, this is very much like the parts cast they’re kind of vibe gloss, Paulie, synthetic bone bridge is the JAG staying hum. Bucking. Let’s see, where’s the neck pickup JAG, Stang single coil. So you got a humbucker and you got a single coil tremolo Mustang style, tremolo, a really, really round fretboard radius, a 24 inch scale length and a narrow nut width.
[00:20:52] So, um, if, if you’re looking for the narrow network, And the shorter scale, uh, the JAG staying in the supersonic have identical pretty much identical stats there. Um, it just depends on which one you like. They made it in lefty, which I’m very glad to see because obviously Kurt, I think Kurt was actually ambidextrous or multi dexterous, and he really could have chosen which direction he wanted, which way he wanted to play guitar.
[00:21:19] And he picked lefty for some reason, which I think exacerbated a nerve issue here. Okay. All right. So that’s my, my look through the new Squire paranormal series. I hope you enjoyed it. Um, well, all I can say is please like comment, subscribe below. Uh, thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding until next time.
[00:21:43] My name is Emily goodbye.
