The Surfybear Compact is a two-channel real-deal analog spring reverb unit. Yep, there are real springs in there. Specifically, it boasts an original Accutronics® type-8 spring reverb pan.
You have two separate mix controls, so you can have a super wet reverb and a drier reverb based on the song in your setlist. You also have an overall volume control, a tone control, a dwell control (amount of the effect) and a decay (length of the effect).
I’m not Ryan Burke, but daaaang, this thing DRIPS. It’s an incredible-sounding reverb pedal, and unlike anything I’ve had the pleasure of playing. I’m not a spring reverb person by my nature, but this might change things for me. It seems solid enough, and though they’re officially based in Europe, they have a crew in Memphis, TN. This gives me added comfort in case it ever needs repairs or a little love.
