[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to get offset. My name is Emily and I’m here with the red star 5 0 2 T. It is a gorgeous double cut by Yamaha. I’m pretty partial to the look of a double cut guitar. If you follow the channel, you know, I don’t usually go for black, but oh man, this is a pretty, pretty hot black. Oh man. You know, I, I, okay.

[00:00:27] First things first, I was sent this guitar in exchange for a demo. So, um, that I will get out of the way. Um, this is a stunner and a half a statics wise. I really liked the look. The, the horns are a little bit offset, which I think is, is quite nice. I’m just going to go ahead. Before I get playing, I was talking about some of the features off the bat that.

[00:00:55] Uh, for the price point. Um, Matt, I think that the retail is around a thousand. I saw them on like Sweetwater four, um, and a couple other websites for, for less. So I know that there are the, this is a very affordable guitar for the features for the looks. It’s a great deal. It’s got, I’m not going to get too far into the specs, but obviously it’s got to P90X.

[00:01:20] Um, as for the looks like, oh my gosh, you’re getting a fully bound guitar, uh, that still has a bit of an arm. Contour here. It’s got a tummy cut. That’s really comfortable. It’s bout all the way up the neck and around the headstock. Uh, that’s, that’s really, really impressive as for some of the features I’m going to demo today.

[00:01:46] Obviously, uh, it’s got three positions, um, but the bonus tunnel feature that you’ll be hearing quite a bit. The toenail has this pool that is called a dry switch. It removes some of those lower frequencies. And I really like the added tonal characteristics you get from that. I almost like for me, it feels a little more, vintage-y a little, I like the vibe that you get from that.

[00:02:17] It just increases the tonal range you get from this guitar. I could talk about it. I think it’s more beneficial to hear it. So let’s get to it. Um, I’m going to be playing out of my H X stump X L. You’ll be seeing that signal chain as I play through it. And I’m going to be using, uh, the power cab, uh, one 12 plus today, uh, be monitoring that, but I’ll be ducking that monitoring.

[00:02:46] You’re going to be hearing it. Today, specifically. Um, so yeah, we’ll, we’ll get to the plane right about now I am using, uh, this let’s make you straighter. It’s H X stub Xcel today. Uh, you can see, I have pretty much everything turned off. I’m using a UX deluxe on the vibrato channel through. Two by 12 double S C 12 N cab, the one twenty one ribbon microphone on it.

[00:03:22] Then I got 63 spring reverb.

[00:04:29] now let’s go through those again, with this pulled up.

[00:04:36] I would push it down so you can hear the difference again,

[00:04:49] up all the way to the bridge.

[00:06:06] so really a lot of character, a lot of tonal range, just for three pickup positions. And I owe that and no smell. I credit that in no small part to, to this, this push pull knob right there. I think that was a really, really smart touch for them too. And for Yamaha to include that push pull functionality.

[00:06:28] And this guitar. All right, I’m going to add some distortion. Let’s go back over to the stall up here. All right. So I have. Uh, a three band comp. I’m actually gonna S I want to start with that.

[00:06:56] warm up a little bit.

[00:07:13] pull that up this time.

[00:07:26] middle position, middle position down.

[00:07:34] You have a moment of panic where you’re like, did I, am I recording?

[00:08:04] Neck, neck down.

[00:08:15] Alyssa mistakes are consistent, you know,

[00:08:58] all right now let’s add some Dyna dry.

[00:09:06] drive with compression. How about, uh, starting on the bridge, uh, with it down.

[00:10:42] No,

[00:11:07] I played that at a show recently. And I, my husband said, where are you most looking forward to at the gig? And I said, just getting through that, lick that song, because I knew if I messed up that little. It w I just wasn’t sure if I would ever hit anything else in that song, let’s go to the neck.

[00:13:19] this is a brand new guitar for me. So like the strings are still pretty new, but let’s say the tunings holding up.

[00:13:29] And he’s actually was pretty good. I, I think I turned it the wrong direction a little bit

[00:13:37] top on the B

[00:13:43] I was bending that G pretty hard. So I’m gonna give that a pass.

[00:13:57] Um,

[00:14:04] Not so bad. I’d say

[00:14:20] all right. Got my mic back. I pushed that aside for the demo made, probably made editing really fun for me. But that’s that? Uh, so as for the guitar, like, um, it’s a lot of fun to play. I’m really, I’ve really been vibing with it since I’ve had it. I’m again, really partial to double cuts. Um, like if I, if I I’m, I’m not so interested in like a standard.

[00:14:48] Les Paul shape. But if you throw a Les Paul devil cat at me, I’m more interested in it. Uh, so like when I, when I was approached about the shape, I was like, absolutely, I want this, uh, one thing I didn’t touch on, uh, in the actual video is this tailpiece here. And if you’ve ever played like a big SPE staff, I brought a system and they do make a version of this.

[00:15:10] It has a big speed on it. I didn’t opt for, um, that’s kind of. Based off of this sort of tailpiece and this as it is, I have it locked in, but you can take Allen wrenches and you can loosen this up so you can actually get a bit of a Palm by Brado on this. It’s really a subtle, very shimmery. And that’s really how I like by Bronto.

[00:15:34] I like it a little bit more subtle. Uh, not much of a deep dive is kind of a UVA. Type though I really respect it. It’s not my style of playing. So kudos to players who can really rock that. Um, yeah. So you just like you just attention there, you can get some really nice, subtle shimmer. There, and I really, it’s not ever in the way, you don’t have to worry about like adjusting it while you’re playing.

[00:16:04] I think it’s a really neat option for people who just want a little bit of warble vibrato while they’re playing. So that’s something that’s really cool. I’m really glad that that’s something that they thought about when they were making, making this guitar. Um, other than that, like, again, this push pull here.

[00:16:23] I think it adds a lot of character to this guitar. Um, I love the rolled fret edges. Anytime you can get that on a guitar that you can get for around a thousand dollars, it’s like holy moly, that makes it feel immediately like a much nicer, more expensive industry. So huge, huge props to Yamaha for being able to do that.

[00:16:49] Uh, the frets are just really nice, like nice fretwork makes all the difference in a guitar, especially, especially when you can easily just like swap the neck around. Cause this is a set neck. So if it’s not a set neck, if it’s a set neck and the front work is bad, it’s kind of a deal breaker. So it’s, it’s always a relief to see.

[00:17:10] Excellent fret work on a guitar. Um, also the, the control cavity easily accessible right there. So if you ever need to do any work or you want to do any upgrades, but basically like, I don’t like, like you already have a, uh, a tonal upgrade there. You already have a wiring upgrade there, but if you want to do more easy enough to do.

[00:17:37] You want to stop the pickups easy enough to do because it’s a little bit more easily accessible. Um, yeah, not going to get too into the specs again, this guitar has been out for a few years. You have access to the internet, obviously. And, um, yeah, you can check out the specs on the website. There you go.

[00:18:26] I’ve heard of it. Oh, well, thanks for watching things for, instead of saying things again to Yamaha. And so next time, my name is Emily goodbye. I don’t know why I did that, but I did. We’re in the city.
