[00:00:00] Emily: Welcome to my messy Ubud. You’re watching get off set. My name is Emily. I have a big, big box from fender, and I’m going to show you all. What’s in it. I’m really excited. This was sent to me to demo. Uh, so yes, paid all that is said I did not pay for this myself. Got my favorite night. To slice up in this half-assed hip job.

[00:00:33] One of the least impressive Tait jobs I’ve ever seen, but that’s not why you buy guitars. You don’t buy guitars for the paint job. Here’s a guitar case in this box. So we’re going to flip it upside down.

[00:00:58] I did it.

[00:01:03] Good thing. I’m very tall ceilings.

[00:01:08] Ceilings are

[00:01:13] I’m trapped. I’m trapped. Okay. All right.

[00:01:22] So it comes with a nice hard case, this guitar that if you have seen the title of the video, you already know what it is, what it, it’s not that, what is the Ryan Burke moment? And they sent me the wrong guitar. I’d be so excited. Oh, Ooh. This is a very feeling case, which I like it feels compact.

[00:01:49] Weird black plastic bag,

[00:02:00] which I will then give to read. Well, this is a very small case. Like I would expect a Tinder guitar to be in this case I would love and fender randomly sent me a tenor guitar. Like probably more so even than what I have assuming they sent me. But, uh, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

[00:02:25] He’s got the luck doula. I always kind of laugh at those because I feel like a hammer could really take those pretty quickly. But the idea is someone doesn’t steal your guitar and then walk out of the venue with it.

[00:02:41] Oh, Ooh. Ooh. It’s the Chrissy. Hi, it’s a Chrissy hung until the cows. Oh yes.

[00:02:57] Was it? I’m from Ohio. I’m going to look at this stuff here and anything good in there. Oh, there’s a strap. I use rocket straps, but. If Chrissy wants me to use this strap, damn it. I’m going to use this strap. Wasn’t it. 77 date 20 19, 10 31. That doesn’t sound right. Sounds right for the case. Oh, I got

[00:03:34] to show you all that in a minute. Uh, normal little bit. So look at packets.

[00:03:45] I’m so excited for this and this guitar. I’ve been begging for this one for a while. So I hope it lives up to my expectations. Telecaster, wait that mirrored at mirrored Picard was a little bit of weight. Oh, I know Chrissy picked these, uh, these pickups out herself. Oh man. This is like, this is a beautiful guitar.

[00:04:18] It’s a road worn, but the neck, the neck feels absolutely new. So the body feels worn. Uh, the neck has this high. I’m going to change this. It’s a glossy finish. Uh, it has locking tuners. Let me just get this off as well. So quick and easy string that changes to string trees. They actually look road worn, which is funny.

[00:04:47] Cause the rest of the guitar is like the neck is that’s a high gloss finish, not jumbo frets, but not super fun for it. Either 1, 2, 3 way switching, nice body mounted, uh, tele neck pick up always nice. Uh, maybe as a little more sustained, maybe he doesn’t see where Duncan has a good article about that.

[00:05:15] Really natural checking. None of those. So, um, on my Ventura road ward, there are weird little like dings underneath each of these barrels and. I’m like, what the hell is that supposed to naturally replicate? No, one’s really given me a good answer. So I assume nothing. Uh, maybe the idea is like they tried to bore the holes there and then realize the math.

[00:05:39] I don’t know. Uh, so this has really nice checking on the back. Human who checking and a little, oh, plenty on the front. Yeah, this, this, this is where it looks like an old friend. Oh, that’s not in tune maybe finally. Oh yeah. Once one, this thing,

[00:06:00] there’s a button that says C H that’d be the Marshall Appaloosa.

[00:06:10] That’s so funny. And then of course it has a C H. For Chrissy hand, my fellow behind one, we had a tuner await I plan. I don’t know why that was really dumb. All right. So I am going to get to know this guitar a little bit better. And then I’m going to tell you all about what I think about it. Now they’ve done the unboxing.

[00:06:44] Ooh. I was there nervous when they come in tune. So I’m glad this was tinted a little down. I feel like lately they’ve all been arriving in tune and I’m like, well, that does bode well for their tuning stability, but that’s not how you’re supposed to shift guitars.

[00:07:03] All right. Let’s look at the intonation. Yep. Yep.

[00:07:17] Ooh, boy,

[00:07:22] that sharp and that one’s sharp. Quite sharp. Not really sure. There’s not a whole lot. I can do that, but, uh, yeah, there it’s the way these are all, these are six separate cells. Oh yeah. There’s a lot I can do about that.

[00:07:41] Pretty sure.

[00:07:47] So the is little sharp

[00:07:56] and the dear sheriff

[00:08:01] ships was really nice. Low action.

[00:08:20] Yeah.

[00:08:38] Ooh, I don’t like these strings. Shane’s really dry.

[00:08:53] You’re gonna need to break these strings. And it’s not that these are not very fun to play.

[00:09:05] Break them in break them in. Um, cool. So first impressions are, this is a very handsome guitar that is going to have lots of fingerprints. So man, I feel empowered holding this guitar. I think I’m going to enjoy it. It looks really nice. Let me check the.

[00:09:30] Huh?

[00:09:34] no a paint chip chipper checking around the neck hill, which is where I normally see them on the fender guitars. But like, even if I didn’t see it, this, this road worn. So I would be like intentional, very classic tele neck, man. It’s been a while since I’ve played, uh, a tele like a real tele, because I have the, I had the Ventura.

[00:09:55] Road worn, but that has like a Strat neck with the fat head stock. Uh, so yeah, I have the, um, the offset tele from square paranormal series, but that’s, that’s all my other as a gig back right now, actually. And I’m going to swap that neck anyway. So I’m really, I’m really excited to have like a true blue, true blue tele have this white.

[00:10:20] Strap that I’m sure we’ll look, I usually play rocket straps. I’m a rocket strap artist. Uh, they sent me this fender strap. I actually really hate how hard it is, like get these fresh vendor straps on these guitars. So I went to break this in a little bit. I hate that. Um, so I might not use the strap at all.

[00:10:45] What, uh, I just realized that I forgot. Oh no, there it is. Cool. Oh, oh, gross. I’m not using the strap at, uh, it left, uh, it’s shedding it’s shedding the fake leather. So. That’s pretty nasty, honestly. Uh, oh God, that’s such a bummer. So yeah, I’m gonna put that in the garbage. Sorry. And I’m just going to use a different guitar strap for this, but, uh, yes.

[00:11:30] Please keep watching this video to see what I think. Hopefully I’ll cut some stuff in the middle. Bye.

[00:11:38] This is fine. You can kind of see the hat welcome to get off set. My name is Emily and I’m here today with the Chrissy Hyde signature Telecaster. Uh, I can’t believe it took Chrissy so long to get a signature tele, but Hey, now she has one and that’s what really matters, right? I mean, she was the first woman to be on the cover of guitar, world magazine, um, or guitar, one of the guitar magazine.

[00:12:04] And, uh, she’s a fellow Ohioan and I’ve always had a big affinity for Chrissy. So when this came out, I asked fender to send me once a demo and they so kindly obliged. Um, I’m gonna tell you what I think about this guitar first. Let’s, let’s start with the build quality. Let’s start with some of the, the interesting things that make it unique.

[00:12:30] Other Telecasters, this is a road Warren finish. It’s very tasteful checking a spot right here. That is very, feels very natural for like how you’d be playing. Go ahead and turn the volume down on that. Um, a lot more checking on the back. It’s pretty, pretty nice. Um, most of the wear is on the body of the guitar.

[00:12:50] The neck is something else it’s it’s. I would call it more of a modern profile. Um, It feels comfortable to me, it feels really nice. Um, it’s, um, uh, a glossy finish, which isn’t my first choice, but, uh, that doesn’t really impede my playing at all. A few non vintage elements that does have locking tuners for faster string changes has a very low profile switch here.

[00:13:17] Uh, which means you’re not going to be banging into it all the time. It’s actually kind of nice. Um, and then the bridge page. Is a staggered pole pieces. So some unique, unique things going on here. Um, and, uh, instead of the standard three saddle bridge, it’s going to be a lot easier to intimidate this thing as you need to because it’s a six saddle bridge.

[00:13:43] So those are some of the more interesting things to talk about. I’d love to just get into, into how it plays. Um, the one thing that was kind of weird about this guitar is when I got it, I would, there was some buzzing on the G string. Every time the string was played open, um, it was it’s the nut. I noticed the nut, uh, as the weather has changed a little bit, it fixed itself.

[00:14:12] So, you know, whether weathering guitar. It’s probably a good time to do setups on all the guitars. Um, I took the tutor off, but I did tune before this and at the end of the demo, I will tune again to see, uh, what we can say about the tuning stability of this thing. All right. Let’s roll up the volume and, um, let’s start.

[00:14:36] On the neck pickup I’m was you pan over to my assortment of pedals, which I will be playing. Uh, but for now, I’m just going to play it to clean through the Strymon or medium on the round B I will then go to the, um, chime would be into the punch B. So I will go through fender box and Marshall sounds in that order, um, low gain, and then I’ll go to high gain and then I’ll plug in some of these, some of these really nice pedals that I have.

[00:15:04] All right here is the neck pickup.

[00:15:42] All right, let’s go to the middle pickup.

[00:16:17] we retune again, just really quickly.

[00:16:32] It’s not quite perfect, but pretty close. Pretty serviceable. Alright, let’s go to the bridge pickup.

[00:17:08] that next pickup sounds very quiet to me for being a single coil. Uh, let’s go to the box sound for this.

[00:17:45] from next to.

[00:18:13] Bridge

[00:18:37] All right. I didn’t really mess with the tone knob. So I’m just going to roll that off on the bridge for you.

[00:18:51] All right. Now let’s go to those marshals. Those clean marshal sounds. Everyone’s favorite.

[00:19:20] all right, I’m just going to go. I’m going to start at the, um, well obviously I need to play the rest of this pickup. Oh my gosh. I had to play the middle and bridge positions.

[00:19:51] I guess I was just so excited to get into Ganey sounds so, but, uh, we will see

[00:20:20] all right. Um, and now I’m going to turn down the volume, just get the gain to nine o’clock.

[00:21:24] I lost

[00:22:17] Fox

[00:23:53] Now it’s a fender sounds.

[00:25:43] Yeah,

[00:25:50] I’m in love with this bridge pickup. The next pickup. I like how quiet it feels. Um, I feel like I need to make some adjustments to the queue.

[00:26:08] Sounds better.

[00:26:16] nice. Cool. So let’s start, um, with the alpha waffle by alchemy audio.

[00:26:40] oops.

[00:27:23] So this has a 7.25 inch radius, which makes it a lot more conducive to rhythm playing than lead playing. Just to put that out there before you judge me really, really hard.

[00:28:46] cool. Uh, now let’s try the Benson germanium.

[00:31:12] whew, fun stuff. And now, oops. Lb.

[00:34:04] Um,

[00:36:00] Don’t worry.

[00:37:44] all right. Well, thank you for letting me just have some fun for a while with this guitar. I really am enjoying it. I think it’s sad. Really, really good. I think it just sounds phenomenal, especially this bridge pickup, uh, this, this in the middle positions. I really like, uh, some, like I feel that the neck pickup requires a little bit more, more tone shaping.

[00:38:08] Um, but it’s so quiet. It’s really nice. Um, I feel like the neck profile is pretty comfortable. I prefer. Uh, a little bit more modern, uh, when it comes to playing up higher on the fret board. Um, but I think there’s a lot of fun that can be had had with this guitar. I think it’s really, really visually stunning, uh, very, very tasteful checking, mostly a couple of things here and there.

[00:38:33] Oh, the other thing is it has an electro socket, so you won’t probably be able to use right. Angled cables with it. That’s just something to consider. But the electrical socket is, it’s just, it’s a better, it’s a better input Jack for Telecasters. I have one tele that doesn’t have anything similar to, it just has a standard Jack, frankly.

[00:38:55] It’s kind of a pain in the ass sometimes. Um, I have to tighten it up a lot, but yeah, no, this I’ve been having a ton of fun with it’s a really comfortable player. Um, check it out. I think fender does have them. Cause, uh, they sent me, uh, yeah. So thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding, please like comment, subscribe below.
