When my husband started asking me if I had a Bass VI or had ever played a Bass VI, I knew exactly what I was going to get him for our sixth anniversary: a Squier Bass VI!

Squier Bass VI Demo and Review
Welcome to get off set. My name is Emily and I have yet another guitar shaped box. This guitar shaped box. I’m a little bit worried about though, because it’s a little, I’m mucked up on the bottom here. I’m pretty sure it’s the bottom. Um, I’m still gonna open it from the top. I really hope that, uh, everything is.
[00:00:29] Hey, okay. In it, this guitar, which I bought with my own money, uh, was inspired by my husband. We just had our 60th wedding anniversary and he’s been listened to some Glen Campbell or something, which I it’s just one of the many things I love about my husband is that he. knows, good music. So he was talking about, um, they VI guitars and I thought to myself, if my husband is expressing interest in a bass, VI guitar, I’m going to get that man a basic, Oh my goodness.
[00:01:23] Deals generally a little less, uh, 30 in terms of the packaging then, um, that I’m used to, I also apologize. It’s a little bright, it’s very bright in there, this room. And I have been actually having a lot troubled, trying to get the light. Right. And if you didn’t notice. My setup was a little bit different.
[00:01:45] I actually didn’t even look to like, get everything, like get things, pushed in, get things looking nice. I rearranged my office and yeah. See what this is. Oh yes. That’s a base VI Squire basics. Um, dang, that is a beefy looking guitar. Wow. It does have a whammy bar. Nice little little give there. The pick guard is very sick compared to the control plate, which is actually pretty funny.
[00:02:34] Um, nice roller bridge. Little. Oh, very scuffed up. I brought a system, honestly. That’s kind of a drag or is that just plaster? Oh, please just be on the plastic. That actually looks really roadie. Hmm. I don’t know. This looks, I’m going to have to get some pliers to take this plastic off. It is. Stuck down. I don’t want to break my nails again.
[00:03:08] I just broke them and they just got back to like where they ought to be the, Hm y’all I don’t know about this. This might be one. I have a conversation with somebody about the. I am definitely going to have to, uh, off camera, do some investigating on this. It looks like they’re singing really grody on this tailpiece and the car.
[00:03:39] This feels like it’s glued down. Not exactly what you want. Oh my gosh. Yeah. I don’t know if I should really be subjecting you all to watching me do this, but I do want to get up around.
[00:03:58] Oh, Christ it’s nasty.
[00:04:06] There’s some sort of white residue. It’s I think it’s just the sawdust from the guitar. Like they didn’t do. Yeah. That’s like that’s some sawdust. The this, this, um, this bridge, this plate here, this screw, especially, it’s not even down all the way. I bet that would be just a matter of me unscrewing it. Uh, I got screwdriver in here somewhere, unscrewing it and dusting it off.
[00:04:48] Ooh, sorry. Long worn days.
[00:04:54] But that okay. I’m just going to move on from that the pit garlic, a little oddly spaced around the pickups. There’s some gaps definitely going to need to raise these pickups. Right? I think, um, let’s look at the neck before I start unscrewing things. Look for any the laws and the finish. Actually, it looks pretty good from a quick glance.
[00:05:23] I really love the color on the headstock and the neck that kind of Amber finish color. See this guitar was inspected.
[00:05:37] Uh, all right.
[00:05:48] I really liked the blog in lays, generally speaking. That’s really pretty well gunk on them, but that’s okay. Not looks all right to my undereducated eyeballs. Yeah. It’s just really, this, this, this bridge looks really janky, so.
[00:06:18] Woo. I am going to go play this through my stream and Iridium in a moment. Yeah, man. Alive. That’s nasty.
[00:06:38] Yeah. It looks like they didn’t quite drill the hole straight instead of just redoing it or just like. Uh, no work. I would say this doesn’t really pass muster,
[00:06:55] but let’s see how it plays. My husband will never notice.
[00:07:07] It’ll just be like Carl basics. I love that, man.
[00:07:15] The series, it looks like a bridge. Like if I had put it on the guitar, like, Oh no, it goes in all the way. That’s just so weird. And this. This plastic that’s on this, this tail plate here is really especially sticky and nasty. I don’t really like Ash at all. Um, so yeah, I feel like this might’ve been kind of hobbled together a little bit.
[00:07:42] Um, honestly, that’s a surprising to me normally with these squares, I feel like the, the build quality has been so nice that I’m, I’m always surprised when it’s. Anything less than like really good for, for the money, but that trash in my pocket, um, take the plastic off the pickups, just cause that’s still kind of weird at the very least try to get the sticker off.
[00:08:10] Um, and then I’m gonna come back and I’m gonna. Play this, tune it up and play this thing. Um, as always with the unboxing videos, if the guitar goes out of tune, sometimes it’s going to go out soon, some time. So for the love of God, like just the lead me, like messages that say crap, like, Oh too, near the tour.
[00:08:34] I’m like, I promise you. I am. Hmm.
[00:08:40] I actually can’t raise that pickup. Whatever, not the best, not my, not the most stellar build quality thus far, but let’s see how it plays. It’s like all it’s seems like it’s mostly cosmetic stuff. That’s like annoying to me right now, but, uh, we will see how it sounds. Alright. I’ll be back in a Jiffy and back.
[00:09:10] And it’s mostly tuned. I haven’t quite figured out what all the controls are. Um,
[00:09:19] yeah, that’s nothing on,
[00:09:33] just one pickup again, I’m using the stream and Iridium round B. I know it’s not a bass amp, but I think it sounds. Pretty fine on the, uh, on the base. So I’m sticking with that. So I think that must’ve been the neck pickup.
[00:10:02] Let’s see if we can do the, uh, neck and the middle together.
[00:10:15] Do. This must be the middle end, the bridge.
[00:10:28] Let’s try just the bridge.
[00:10:43] I think this last one must be a phase switch, but I just,
[00:10:56] all of the pickups.
[00:11:42] I’ll be honest. I like the way it sounds
[00:11:51] possible. Scratchy down there.
[00:12:01] Volume works.
[00:12:13] Uh, for my recording that I do at home, I often use a baritone. It gets harder to get some of the lower parts, but, uh, this, this, this, this tune like a regular guitar, it’ll be a lot easier for me even to do that.
[00:12:38] see. I got to get used to planning. These thick, thick strings.
[00:13:06] Cause it’s just a normal guitar tune down and octave, but let’s add some fuzz from the Valpo blood buzz.
[00:13:18] Woo.
[00:13:57] sorry.
[00:16:56] that’s what, she’s the overdrive. Ooh that loud. Sorry.
[00:17:16] Why is it harder to play on the, on this with this extreme? Is this the difference between the string spacing? Maybe the string spacing as it just makes it weirder to play. The sec strings, make it not like a guitar and the string spacing makes it not like a bass which leads to fun food.
[00:17:42] It’s usually for my fingers.
[00:18:31] That’s kind of pretty, yeah.
[00:19:16] Okay.
[00:19:25] Yeah.
[00:19:54] Nice. Well, this is really fun to play. While, I don’t think it’s going to truly replace either my baritone or my base. This is a really fun tool that I’m very happy to have now have in my arsenal, despite a couple of weird, uh, holes like hole drilling and like these pickups seem a little, this, this next pickup especially seems a little low.
[00:20:20] Um, I think it sounds really neat even with the strive under video, we’ve been not through a bass amp. Um, and I think that that seems to be taking the Falco blood buzz fuzz really well, which is important. To me. So
[00:20:42] not the best craftsmanship I’ve seen from Squire. I’m not the worst craftsmanship I’ve seen in a guitar. I think it’s a very handsome guitar. Just look at it
[00:20:55] and, uh, it’s going to be a lot of fun to play. I can’t wait for my husband to get done with work. Cause he’s working a little bit late, cause I really want him to try it, see as a basis.
